Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news THE SEQUEL

This is the one where the news remains dull, and all the irons you bought in the last thread have developed limescale.

I had a slice of toast and now I feel a bit sick. It must be because I am low carbing. The toast was worth it though,it was slightly cold and hard so the butter went on the way it used to in a 1990s B&B.

I ordered a wheelbarrow. It came today.

If it weren't for Covid, I would make the DC do the very long walk to the nice playground in the next town over then get the bus home. But we won't be getting the bus, so that plan is out the window.

To the poster who suggested putting DS's antibiotics in squash, I tried it. Epic fail. DH said we just had to force him. He tried. Epic fail. DS is stubborn and strong.

BluebellsareBlue · 01/09/2020 09:25

Tesco are doing avozillas. About ten times the size of a normal avocado, I'm debating travelling the 6 miles at some point this week to get a couple. My dad is in boots the chemist just now getting me a support for my sore knee. I haven't fed the dog yet and he is looking at me as if he is pained by this 24 minute late abomination.
I am going to get showered and dressed and get ready to start work at half 11 WFH in my kitchen. (Maybe that is a bit much excitement)

WouldBeGood · 01/09/2020 09:29

Is that the Godzilla of avocados?

Halfpastafreckle · 01/09/2020 09:38

I am drinking my coffee and researching handblenders after I melted my last one making Passata - I am torn between the barginatious Russell and Hobbs plastic one or going for the full Monty kitchenaid, all singing, all dancing one - it’s a terrible dilemma

lucysmam · 01/09/2020 10:31

I'm trying to find out what day I'm back in work (school kitchen), so far no answer from three people 🙄 bet they'll be pleased when I don't turn in because I don't know!

sueelleker · 01/09/2020 10:36

@Halfpastafreckle If you can afford it, go for a Bamix. I've had mine over 20 years and it's still going strong. And they offer a lifetime guarantee.

Spudlet · 01/09/2020 11:06

I’ve been having horrendous period pains all morning and am still in my dressing gown. DS is still in his pyjamas, and we have CBeebies on, like a proper pair of slobs. I am entertaining mildly lustful thoughts about Nigel off of The Babyclub. Making Nigel sexy again... Blush

I am starting to feel better now, so unfortunately we are going to have to get dressed and go out at some point. Not sure if this is a good thing or not.

Halfpastafreckle · 01/09/2020 11:06

@sueelleker ooh Thankyou - I will have a look

Champagneforeveryone · 01/09/2020 11:51

I had a haircut this morning. It's shorter again and I like it better, even though I am painfully aware I look more grown up and responsible when it was longer.

And on a scandalously exciting (and not in the spirit of this thread) turn of events, DS has picked up a last minute shift at work. DS is already at work and I finally have the house to myself

Deathraystare · 01/09/2020 13:41

Again, this may be far too exciting for you. I apologise in advance if so.

I went to a friend's house with the rest of the Book Club Crew. We did not sit outside as a bit chilly but played with her cousin's new kitten Django! He is so sweet! We had prawn saganiki and crumble. Yum!

Avozillas sound a bit too exciting for this thread. OP If Bluebells can procure one, are we allowed a photo of it on the thread, or would that be ‘not in the spirit’?

NO no! Far too exciting (and probably too expensive to buy!).

powkin · 01/09/2020 14:04

Mopped the upstairs floors properly for first time in..... a while. DD is on the verge of potting training so trying to teach her about wee, she crouched down this morning after refusing to have her nappy put on and did a wee all over floor and Sally, —my— her beloved Jellycat Octopus toy. Decided it probably needed to be properly cleaned.

boatyardblues · 01/09/2020 14:06

I went into town with my sons to return some clothes. We had planned to eat lunch out as a treat before they go back to school. Several of the restaurants we tried had tables but wanted us to download the crappy NHS Track & Trace app first, which I’m not going to do because its poorly designed and hazy about data use/GDPR. Then DS1 said he needed the loo and could we just go home please. So we came home, stopping off to buy some heat at home curry from a local place. Afterwards, we decided we’d enjoyed our lunch at home much more without the stress of social distancing and being coughed on by strangers.

Town was depressing and shopping is a test of endurance now, not fun. Even the trendy, prosperous bit now has empty units.

FawnDrench · 01/09/2020 15:16

I bought far too much from Iceland so have had to rearrange my freezer to accommodate everything- but it's actually been a blessing in disguise as I found some Magnums hidden at the back of one of the drawers.

It's rather warm here today, and very pleasant outside.

I might rearrange my phone icon thingies later, but then again I might not.

BaldAndWild · 01/09/2020 15:21

I have descaled the kettle.
I don't like the smell of the descale.

I feel as though I need a complete life overhaul. I can start on that tomorrow as the kids will be back at school.

FloydWasACat · 01/09/2020 15:28

I have a really snotty cold and sneezed and it went all over my top. Luckily, I am in the garden on my own.

One of our trees has become a wasp magnet. I don't want to go near it to cut down branches to see what is happening.

I missed a period last month but got one today, relief is taking over from the pain

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/09/2020 16:10

Back from work - I am still on ABs, wanted to go home at 12 but suddenly there were deadlines to keep. I'll go to bed and on with my book, now.

DH's work is restarting. He's been catapulted into the 21st century and discovered how much work can be done if you rope in people (who are all bored senseless bc. of C.) from around the world via zoom.

BurtonHouse · 01/09/2020 17:13

I've managed to book TWO appointments, one for a haircut and one for an eye test.

An electrician came round this morning to fix our outside lights.

Have taken off my horrible red trousers (as mentioned in post yesterday) and am sitting in a sunny spot in the kitchen in just my pants.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/09/2020 17:17

You have sunny spots? How ex .... interesting.
19°C max here

Deathraystare · 01/09/2020 17:23

Jammy person!!

Thecobwebsarewinning · 01/09/2020 17:32

After a year of not being able to have a manicure because of a fungal infection I’m finally healed and I now I can’t find my box of gel nail polish and chrome powders. ☹️

drspouse · 01/09/2020 17:36

I have given blood and the DCs have watched Trolls 1.

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 01/09/2020 17:38

I’ve just eaten an ice cold apple from the fridge...

CMOTDibbler · 01/09/2020 17:47

I put makeup on properly and a nice top as I had a really big presentation this afternoon. Only to realise that the platform it was on didn't have presenter video. So I've looked over dressed for the rest of my meetings
