I'm divorcing DH soon and hoping to just change my name to something I like. I've been saddled with his since the age of 18 Smile

What's your favourite surname? I think I might go with 'Knight'

I met a Karen Power once.

Franticbutterfly · 23/08/2020 17:34

Belafonte. I would to change my name to Franticbutterfly Belafonte.

Afwan · 23/08/2020 17:42

If really like Davenport, so fancy!

I have an alliterative name and consequently like a cartoon character...

DuckonaBike · 23/08/2020 17:47

I quite fancy Pallister.

Used to know someone with the surname Sparrowhawk; that was pretty good.

Qwenzo · 23/08/2020 17:48

I’ve known people called Rainbow and Snowball. I’d love those as surnames!

Georgieporgie29 · 23/08/2020 17:49

Dalziel - pronounced Dee ell

Ooh I want a new surname now Grin

ifiwasascent · 23/08/2020 17:55

Summers, winter, breeze. Love all those sorts of names as surnames!

52andblue · 23/08/2020 18:03

Gladhart or Freewoman or Newfields ?

I hate my married name and, rather than go back to my maiden name, would like to choose afresh as I am long separated & about to Divorce

Carouselfish · 23/08/2020 18:08

DeWinter or Esterhazy. Less aristocratic: Conway, Harmon and O'Hara.

Carouselfish · 23/08/2020 18:10

Out of.my friends Trevelyan and Livingstone.

reallifegetsintheway2 · 23/08/2020 18:12

Calhoun- very America sounding

Gancanny · 23/08/2020 18:13

Deoends on where you live too. Darling sounds lovely when pronounced Dar-ling but not so lovely as Dah-l'n.

Reynolds is nice and out of the names already suggested I like Cavendish.

52andblue · 23/08/2020 18:19

Funny how names have such resonance though -
I wouldn't be Tremain as I know an unpleasant one.
Ditto Treadwell. I have liked 'Westminster' since I saw an interview with the (old) Duke when I was about 6 on TV and decided I wished he was MY Father (ishooos.. :)

KooKooKachu · 23/08/2020 18:21

I like O' names:

O'Neill
O'Leary
O'Malley

I also like Donnelly for some reason. My surname is pretty weird and the only people I know with it are relations of mine. I'm never getting married so I'm keeping it.

KnightmareDog · 23/08/2020 18:24

@OrangeLavenders I'm a Knight!
I hated my maiden name and was made up to change it.
I love my surname.

TheWashingMachine · 23/08/2020 18:27

Summerfield

Cheerybigbottom · 23/08/2020 18:28

Makepeace

ifigoup · 23/08/2020 18:30

Kynaston
Pentecost
Parody (there’s a TV producer called Clare Parody and we always like spotting it in the credits!)
Quartermain
Boxx
Escreet
Barton
Nixon

Julmust · 23/08/2020 18:30

I've always liked the names Jones

Chewbecca · 23/08/2020 18:31

Definitely choose something from your family tree.

I like some of the ones mentioned already, especially Cavendish and Hamilton & will add Baxter to that pool.

Rae36 · 23/08/2020 18:35

Colquhoun
Pronounced cahoon

My friend had this surname and we did a summer working in Canada where everyone was fascinated by her name. I was quite jeous because mine back then was along the lines of Smith or Jones. So if ever I get to choose I'm going for Colquhoun

grandmasterstitch · 23/08/2020 18:43

I knew a girl who married a Lilystone which I thought was lovely. I like Swan

Twickerhun · 23/08/2020 18:51

I spoils go for Hewardine - I just like the way it sounds.

How about Windsor?

gerbo · 23/08/2020 18:53

Allbright.

ChunkyKnit · 23/08/2020 18:55

I know a Lydia L’strange. Great name.
