I'm divorcing DH soon and hoping to just change my name to something I like. I've been saddled with his since the age of 18 Smile

What's your favourite surname? I think I might go with 'Knight'

If I could choose mine it would Apostolides.

I am not Greek but it's the coolest surname

TinkersRucksack · 23/08/2020 13:45

I'm also drawn to Henderson and Anderson. Good strong surnames.

thedaywewillremeber · 23/08/2020 13:46

Jones or Taylor I like simple surnames that everyone can spell. I’m lucky mine is a common surname.

CoffeeRunner · 23/08/2020 13:47

I like Knight! My favourite has always been Vaughan. No idea why! I just like the sound Grin.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 23/08/2020 13:51

I have a real pig of a surname that nobody can spell or pronounce, and I've always dreamed of changing it to something more glamorous. Maybe after my parents have passed...
My favourites are Lombard, Holland, Lannister (very GoT but it is a real name), Frost, Meadows, and my wildcard is Plantagenet.
I'm surprised that the Fitz names are so popular, given that it means "illegitimate son of..."

ClumsyAnnabel · 23/08/2020 13:54

I've always thought of levelling up by changing my surname to Windsor or Faberge or Rothschild, something that makes me sound posh and rich Grin I also knew a lad whose surname was Mitten and I thought that was so charming and wanted the same for myself so I could sound like a character from Beatrice potter.

I'd love to be Ms Faulkner.

I grew up with a foreign surname that I had to constantly spell out and it would always be pronounced incorrectly wherever I went.

I now have a very common Surname, I think it's within the top 10 most popular UK surnames and I love it. I never have to spell it out!

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 23/08/2020 14:01

I once served a guy with surname Longcake. I want to be a Longcake Grin

I quite like Donovan.

WindFlower92 · 23/08/2020 14:02

I've always wanted to be a Westenra. Will be changing to that if I ever get a divorce!

Theforest · 23/08/2020 14:07

Maybe do a little work on your family tree and chose a family name from generations ago.

I had this dilemma after ridding myself of my married name, but decided to go back to my maiden name in the end. I like it now, though I was bullied about it at school.

‘Clutterbuck’ means poo-collector, by the way...

Years ago I was in a wool shop when mrs England was having some wool put by when the lady behind her in the queue introduced herself as mrs Britton.
I can't remember what I had for tea yesterday but this small encounter has stayed with me for donkeys years. Grin

Bowbanks...The first name that popped into my head.
My parents had friends with this surname in the 70s and they both had fantastic first names too. I won’t say or it’s a bit outing. Also, he looked like David Niven and she like Ava Gardener.
They had no clue that as a very small child I thought they were wonderful!!
