Crying Laughing at Frasier

LucilleBluth · 19/08/2020 22:55

I watching the episode where Frasier ends up on a date with the new guy at the station who he thought he was setting up with Daphne. I’m watching it with 16 yo DS2. We always stick an episode on when there’s nothIng else on.

It may be 25 years old but it still holds up. It’s all 90s, autumnal and cosy (I know..shoot me)

Tell me your favourite episodes.

Ham Radio.

Valentine's Day (Niles ironing his trousers).

The flour baby

Niles & Daphne dancing.

Radio Jingle.

There's one, which might be a Valentine's Day one, where Niles is ironing something and sets it on fire which makes me cry laughing every time I see it. Oh and the one where the Dad is in the Nativity and has to sing something. To be fair, you'd be hard pushed to find an episode of Frasier that doesn't make you laugh, it's so well done and so bloody funny. Oh and the one where the Dad has to work on Christmas Day so Frasier and Niles swap all the Christmas presents for the fake ones at the building where he works so they can go down and surprise him on Christmas Day. The swapping out the presents under the tree is sublime. I might have a binge on Frasier this weekend!

The Niles and Daphne dancing one is my favourite. I agree that Frasier is not showing its age.

The one with Patrick Stewart

The Nikes ironing episode was on 4 yesterday- beautifully done!

TheySeeHerRowling · 19/08/2020 23:10

I couldn't possibly select a favourite (it would be heavily Niles-centric) but if anyone suggests something I'm unenthusiastic about my stock response is 'I would sooner attend a hoe down'

You've inspired me to start watching with the dc - I think they'd enjoy it

LucilleBluth · 19/08/2020 23:10

We are watching flower baby now.

Another episode I love is when the parrot is stuck on Niles head. Niles ironing is a classic.

It’s absolutely glorious! I adore it

High Holidays is my absolute favourite but they’ve taken it out of the series run! (Presumably because getting high isn’t deemed funny!)

Barton10 · 19/08/2020 23:12

Door Jam
Flour Child
The one where they buy a restaurant and the one where they write a book.

I love it could watch it over and over and still find it funny

frasersmummy · 19/08/2020 23:12

it is completely brilliant .. i think my favourite is frasiers day off

hello you're on the crane with frasier air

well done Frasier for so brilliantly portraying why they call it dope

GetRid · 19/08/2020 23:14

Ah, haven't watched for years and now I want to. Is it on Netflix?

Figmentofimagination · 19/08/2020 23:15

Ham Radio every time.

I remember when I was about 12/13 and my mum was watching Ham Radio whilst I was in bed trying to sleep. She couldn't stop laughing at it and I was so rude as I kept banging on the floor and shouting at her to be quiet. I felt terrible the next day as I made her cry. I don't know why I did it as I'm not usually like that.

So to make it up to her I bought the season on video and I sat with her to watch Ham Radio. We watched it a few weekends in a row. I just wanted to give her a good memory of the "mubible murderor". It's now her favourite episode as well.

LucilleBluth · 19/08/2020 23:15

DS2 loves it, Dd is 9 and a bit young and DS1 doesn’t appreciate it really.
DS2 is the forgotten middle child so watching Frasier (and 30 Rock) is our bonding time without the others.

It’s the perfect program for when the nights are drawing in imo.

Oh, also the one where they're all on a cruise, as Frasier has been hired as a speaker, but they find out that Maris is on board with a new lover and Frasier is furious to discover that everyone else has a bigger and better cabin than he does.

Which reminds me of the Health Spa (where they are entirely raving about the level of service, until they find out there's a higher grade, and then a higher one still). DH and I still ask if we've got the "platinum" level if we go to a spa.

motorcyclenumptiness · 19/08/2020 23:19

Where Niles undergoes a series of aesthetic procedures because he wants to ask out Mel (the plastic surgeon) but it's never the right moment. Frasier says to him: 'I'd like to see you do this while I can still pick you out of a crowd.' Grin

CallmeAngelina · 19/08/2020 23:19

"Mulpbible murberer" is what dh and I make each other say when we've either been to the dentist, or have a mouthful of crisps.

Bereft2020 · 19/08/2020 23:20

Too many amazing episodes to choose from. Ham Radio is up there though.

When he shoots Mr Wing and Noel rings the bell 😭😭😭

It’s just so m incredibly clever.

Bereft2020 · 19/08/2020 23:21

DH and I are always quoting Frasier. I think when we met we bonded over it.

“Food...in the bathroom?”

Emmmie · 19/08/2020 23:22

I love the one where Maris and her German fencing instructor Gunnar were having an affair or about to have one - Season 2, episode 21.
Frasier seems to be a timeless sitcom unlike Seinfeld for example which just makes me cringe now.

CallmeAngelina · 19/08/2020 23:23

"I'm not gay, Guy."

Geekster1963 · 19/08/2020 23:24

Roz and the snoz absolute genius.

So many others too.

WindsorBlues · 19/08/2020 23:25

Since we've been WFH me and DH have gotton into a routine of watching a few episodes in bed in the morning while having our cup of tea. First time seeing it for me, he's been trying to get me to watch it for years but I always resisted.

I love it, we watched the ski lodge episode today where everyone fancies everyone else 😂... It certainly beats the normal morning commute.

Bereft2020 · 19/08/2020 23:25

Oh my god Roz and the Snoz 😭😭

I absolutely love Kirby. I haven’t met many other Frasier fans who liked Kirby but I thought he was bloody hilarious.

HopeClearwater · 19/08/2020 23:26

Seinfeld still makes me laugh. You can’t fault the one where the parrot eats the key. Or Kramer at the airport on the baggage reclaim. It’s not dated any worse than Friends.

WindsorBlues · 19/08/2020 23:27

@GetRid

Ah, haven't watched for years and now I want to. Is it on Netflix?
It's on channel 4 in the mornings at about 8.00
