Crying Laughing at Frasier

I watching the episode where Frasier ends up on a date with the new guy at the station who he thought he was setting up with Daphne. I’m watching it with 16 yo DS2. We always stick an episode on when there’s nothIng else on.

It may be 25 years old but it still holds up. It’s all 90s, autumnal and cosy (I know..shoot me)

Tell me your favourite episodes.

Oh thank you so much for this thread - I definitely need a good dose of Fraiser in my life! Wine

I can't remember what episode this is from but I had stomach cramps from laughing so hard at this one. If there were to be poster boys for keeping you nose out of other people business it's these two Grin

@WindsorBlues I love the ski lodge episode! When I was 12/13/14 the classic Friday night lineup was Friends, then Frasier or Smack the Pony, followed by the Graham Norton show when he was first on channel 4 and allowed to be really naughty. Absolute quality viewing and I had the biggest crush on Niles 🤭

DMCWelshcakes · 19/08/2020 23:32

Ham Radio, without a doubt.

Dial M for Martin

'Father, come join me on the balcony ... ' 🤣🤣🤣

RaininSummer · 19/08/2020 23:35

Our favourite. We watch the entire box set through about once every two years. Flour baby and Niles ironing are some of the best scenes.

eyesbiggerthanstomach · 19/08/2020 23:36

The one where he is in a car park and won't pay to leave

thefourgp · 19/08/2020 23:39

I love Frasier. The Frasier Grinch episode where Martin gives Frasier an Outlaw Laser Robo-geek (after Frasier finds out its all Frederick wants for his Christmas) is so touching.

Geekster1963 · 19/08/2020 23:40

I like the one when they are at the beach house too with the dead seal that they end up wrapping in Maris bathrobe with the light that comes on when they clap.

MaosChaos · 19/08/2020 23:42

It's delightful genius. I love every episode. That refers to Martin's chair, so the balcony one is class.
And Eddie is the best TV dog ever.

Deadringer · 19/08/2020 23:43

It's fabulous. The cast just work so well together, sometimes you can see they are trying not to laugh, especially Martin. They were all good friends irl and it shows.

Namechange2020onceagain · 19/08/2020 23:43

I love Frasier. It is so well written. One bit that always makes me laugh is when Frasier and Niles are having a row.

Frasier: Well I never

Niles: No, you always.

Don't know why, but I just find it very funny.

ComtesseDeSpair · 19/08/2020 23:45

I think Frasier ages well because it (purposely) avoided making social or political commentary; the style in terms of decor and fashion is timeless; the characters actually change over time and the audience can follow their journey; and the butt of many of the jokes is the pomposity and snobbishness of Frasier and Niles themselves and their attitudes towards something, rather than that something itself - for example, when the brothers make reference to Roz’ many sexual escapades, the audience isn’t being encouraged to laugh at Roz, but at them and their attitudes towards her.

SanFrancisco49er · 19/08/2020 23:46

Martin singing Holy Night is one of my favourite things everGrin
Also love Flour Baby, the ironing scene and Ham Radio...
'Look out! He's got a Nug!' Gets me everytime.
And any scene with Frasier indignation is comedy gold but the nuances of Niles are sublime.
Lilith is also one of the best characters of any show and they use her brilliantly.

Best show ever.

Bereft2020 · 19/08/2020 23:46

“Not now Eddie! I’m a humane man, but right now I could kick a kitten through an electric fence!”

Bereft2020 · 19/08/2020 23:47

My cat is called Lilith 🤗 it really suits her

BentBastard · 19/08/2020 23:50

What a coincidence, just watched that episode this evening, and flout baby.

Frasier or my absolute favourite.

Good reminder about ham radio.

Other goodies are the couples therapy "are you insane?" "If I were Dr, you'd never know it!"

Also, heard someone say M'lady the other day and it made me think of Frasiers private practice patient 🤣🤣🤣

LaurieFairyCake · 19/08/2020 23:55

My favourite line we use all the time going anywhere 'early' is

"We leave at nine-ish" (declared stroppily)

thefourgp · 19/08/2020 23:57

Martin - With one swift move the good doctor hoisted the miscreant out on his ear, declaring, 'What you need is an etiquette lesson. '" I love that! You got your own tough-guy catchphrase!

Niles: It's perfect for you, Frasier.

thefourgp · 19/08/2020 23:59

Niles:
You think I'm pretentious?

Daphne:
You'd eat a worm if I gave it a French name.

magicstar1 · 20/08/2020 00:01

I adore Frasier! Most of the episodes I love have already been mentioned, but the one where they think their mother’s assistant is their real father sticks in my mind. The part where Martin tries to join in the singing and sings “many cheerful facts about the scary hippopotamus” cracks me up Grin

TheYellowOfTheEgg · 20/08/2020 00:06

Ham Radio
Ski Lodge with Guy - Frasier says at the end when it's all explained something like "so with all the lust pinging off the walls tonight no one was lusting after me?"
The one with the German fencing instructor

Alwaysinpain · 20/08/2020 00:11

A few favourite scenes:

Niles has his hand down the waste disposal, trying to do....something, and Frasier switches on the coffee grinder 🤣

There's an accidental gunshot in the apartment (🤷🏼‍♀️) and Frasier, who was trying to sleep, comes frantically running out "WHAT THE HELL WAS THATTTTTTT?!"

Frasier says, as he's storming out of the apartment: "...That's ridiculous, how can we (men) use sex to get what we want? Sex IS what we want!!!" Slams door behind him.

Niles says to Daphne, upon finding out they're expecting a baby "I thought I had slow sperm?!"
Daphne replies "I must have fast eggs!!"

Gutted John Mahoney (Dad) has died. He was brilliant

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I know exactly what tone you mean!!
boltzmannbrains · 20/08/2020 00:12

I re-watch both Cheers and Frasier quite a bit, and while both are very good, Cheers feels noticeably dated and like a period piece now, while for the most part Frasier feels like it could have been filmed last week (okay maybe last February).

BlackSwan · 20/08/2020 00:13

I remember watching a show about frasier and how it was conceived & cast... it explained that this was an example of “write gay cast straight” though some of the cast are of course gay...

It’s a winning formula.
