Crying Laughing at Frasier

I watching the episode where Frasier ends up on a date with the new guy at the station who he thought he was setting up with Daphne. I’m watching it with 16 yo DS2. We always stick an episode on when there’s nothIng else on.

It may be 25 years old but it still holds up. It’s all 90s, autumnal and cosy (I know..shoot me)

Tell me your favourite episodes.

The one where Martin moves in with Niles and thinks he's trying to kill him as he keeps getting hurt. Hilarious in his apartment.

And the one where Frasier and Martin realise them living together is Frasiers longest relationship, and at some point Martins chair ends up out of the window and he gets it remade after forcing the company to admit they made the fabric. 🤣

Or the one where the young Billionaire buys the station and then the apartment underneath Frasier and makes it identical to his!

And of course the one where they become suppliers/dealers of Caviar to their friends. So many good episodes.

My favourite show, I have the whole lot recorded, it really is my go to, to fill a spare 30minutes.

Alwaysinpain · 20/08/2020 00:15

Dad has accidentally eaten a brownie laced with Cannabis and is stoned out of his mind. What he doesn't know, is that Eddie has been used for a commercial on TV! (Using Frasier's voice!)

Whilst stoned, Dad sits down to watch TV and Eddie appears! Saying "Anyone wanna go for a walk?!" Dad FREAKS OUT! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

OutOntheTilez · 20/08/2020 00:19

Like you, OP, the one with the new station manager has me in fits laughing every time. Also "The Innkeepers," the opening night of their new restaurant. The last five minutes of that episode are pure comedy gold.

A Christmas episode where Frasier meets a Jewish love interest and her mother comes to visit but Niles is cast as Jesus in a nativity or something similar and he turns up at Frasier's unannounced and Frasier shouts "JESUS!!" And has to style it out 🤣🤣🤣 I can picture it in my head right now but I've had a couple of wines tonight so not doing the episode justice!

BlackberryCitron · 20/08/2020 00:31

My friend and I are both Frasier fans and whenever we swap dessert recipes they always finish with "...and a HINT of Tahitian vanilla"

Doingtheboxerbeat · 20/08/2020 00:39

Frasers old school crush, played by Jean Smart, who always has a cigarette on the go, screaming
"put your brother on the phone"
makes me laugh for some reason.

Ah, I love the friendship they develop.

@CallmeAngelina

Ham Radio.

Valentine's Day (Niles ironing his trousers).

The flour baby

Niles & Daphne dancing.

Radio Jingle.

@CallmeAngelina nailed it with these ones, these are all my favourites too. I watched Ham Radio that I downloaded onto an iPad when I was in hospital in labour with DD 😁 The radio jingle one is fantastic too.

I sometimes like to shout ‘MY BACON IS FARMER FRANK’S BACON’ for no real reason. And also ‘I had a reason. Fridge pants.’

PyongyangKipperbang · 20/08/2020 01:11

Like PP, for me the Niles trouser ironing thing is absolute gold. Nothing will ever top that!

Anyone a MAS*H fan?

The guy that Frasier and Niles thought might be their real father played Charles Emerson Winchester III in MAS*H and voice Cogsworth in the animated Beauty and the Beast!

Ozgirl75 · 20/08/2020 02:14

Loved it too. Even now when we have a night out DH and I say “what’s better than a good night out? A night out where you can find one tiny fault and pick at it for the rest of the evening”.

I just re watch, it was so clever and the characters all so likeable.

Toilenstripes · 20/08/2020 02:23

Roz and the schnoz

“What’s that I smell?”

Marty: “Probably Japan”

😂😂

SilverLetters · 20/08/2020 02:34

Great thread! I've recently started rewatching it having dusted off some box sets. I love the bit in 'Look Before You Leap' when Frasier chickens out of singing an operatic aria live on PBS in favour of an unrehearsed 'Buttons and Bows'...Grin

OytheBumbler · 20/08/2020 03:08

I'd love to rewatch Frasier. What channel is it on?

eaglejulesk · 20/08/2020 03:22

I'm watching every episode, for the second time this year!

Love them all, but Ham Radio is particularly funny Smile

KnitFastDieWarm · 20/08/2020 03:32

the butt of many of the jokes is the pomposity and snobbishness of Frasier and Niles themselves and their attitudes towards something, rather than that something itself - for example, when the brothers make reference to Roz’ many sexual escapades, the audience isn’t being encouraged to laugh at Roz, but at them and their attitudes towards her.

i think this is why Frasier and Seinfeld have aged well (in a way that, say, Friends hasn’t) - they don’t punch down. The joke is always, ultimately, on the characters themselves. You like them immensely, but they are flawed and human and are hardly held up as aspirational figures Grin

KnitFastDieWarm · 20/08/2020 03:33

(And now i’m going to spend all of tomorrow rewatching Frasier and reliving the comforting friday evenings of my early teens)

KnitFastDieWarm · 20/08/2020 03:36

I love the scene where Frazier catches a bus and thinks it’s like a taxi - ‘Good day, busman. The northwest corner of Highland and 1st, please.’ Grin

SenecaFallsRedux · 20/08/2020 04:29

So many. The opening night of their restaurant where Daphne deals with the eels. The one where they think they might be descendants of the Romanovs. The Christmas one where Niles is dressed as Jesus. The classic farce in the ski cabin. It's the best sitcom of all time in my opinion.

CallmeAngelina · 20/08/2020 07:32

They are very good at farce.

jenniuol · 20/08/2020 07:55

I absolutely adore frasier! Watch it every morning I’m off Blush must have seen every episode dozens of times. Some of my favourites are -

The ski lodge

The seal who came to dinner (‘oh yes niles, it smells so lovely now it’s almost a shame to bury it!’ 🤣)

The doctor is out

The one where Frasier and Niles are trying to organise a dinner party. I was crying at the Argentinian foster child ‘so he’s not the conductor of the Buenos Aires philharmonic?’

The one where daphne dates a carbon copy of Niles just as he was about to ask her out. They all meet in frasers apartment and Niles drops one of Frasier’s Henry VII’s wives mugs. Now anytime we break something we shout to each other
‘Anne Boleyn?
‘Catherine of Aragon!’

Love the Niles as Jesus episode too and the coffee grinder one. And the one where Frasier keeps getting caught in daphne’s room. So many really 🙈

missyB1 · 20/08/2020 08:05

I’m my goodness this thread brings back memories! Loved Frasier!
Also;
Cheers- where Frasier first appears.
Taxi - Danny de Vito
Third Rock from the Sun

boltzmannbrains · 20/08/2020 08:12

Frasier is repeated on C4 every weekday morning.

My friend and I are both Frasier fans and whenever we swap dessert recipes they always finish with "...and a HINT of Tahitian vanilla"

This thread inspired me to watch an episode picked at random last night and it was that episode!

Dugheed · 20/08/2020 08:16

There's just a line in it that cracks me up when Martin is basically Frazier's job can be done better by just taking someone out for a pint. Frazier gets all despondent so Martin suggests some people might genuinely need physiatrists i.e. Hitler...Sybil....🤣🤣🤣🤣

Quackersandcheese3 · 20/08/2020 08:39

Last Christmas we watched all the Xmas specials in the week before Christmas . Was so good , a new tradition I hope .
When Fredrick says “ Bon soir uncle niles , I hope aunt Maris recovers from her coma”
And when Martin has the hash brownie .
Love love love Fraiser!

TSSDNCOP · 20/08/2020 08:50

I loved Kirby too. Also his mother "PUT YOUR BROTHER ON"

I love the episode where they stage the farce.

And anything at all with Gil Chesterton; the cobra with the chatty mongoose line is comedy gold.
