I'm surprised at just how many of you hate fabric conditioner. Do you all live in soft water areas or have family members with eczema?

As I said upthread, when I stopped using it my clothes and bedding felt horrible. I use just a little Fairy conditioner in each wash, and it makes all the difference.

Oliversmumsarmy · 19/08/2020 11:59

I live in a hard water area. I tumble dry everything and it all comes out perfectly ok.

Unfortunately I have a nose like a blood hound and I have tried fabric conditioner and the smell is so overpowering and I think I smell the chemicals more than what I am supposed to smell.

Used it once and had to do the load again as it smelled awful. Years later I tried again. Different brand, new improved formula and the same thing happened.

I can sometimes get a whiff of people who have used fabric conditioner on their clothes and it does have a certain smell.

MillicentMartha · 19/08/2020 12:29

Every now and again I forget to put in fabric conditioner. The clothes feel horrible, rough and stiff, even if I tumble dry them, which I normally don’t, TBF.

Ginfordinner · 19/08/2020 17:08

I only tumble dry if it is raining. I tumble dry towels otherwise they are like sandpaper.

Once we had nothing in the house except foie gras so my children had to have it on toast.

I will never have Branston Pickle in my house or offal or sweeteners.

@frumpety

Have the posters who never buy anything from Iceland actually been recently ? Their frozen seafood is brilliant.

Stuff I never buy - air fresheners of any variety and tissues.

I have never bought fabric softener either. But I admit that Pam from Gavin and Stacey would be bringing her own towels.
