Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.
Otherwise great!
Anyone else?
@DobbyTheHouseElk please let me know if it is. I don't kno if this is a 'thing' or whether I need to send it back. It's definitely worse when full sun is hitting the light carpet. When the sun comes out again I'll video it.
I will. Our living room is very sunny so it will struggle if it has vampire tendencies.

@JustHereWithMyPopcorn

I bought one recently but not because of any threas on here. The only thing I have found an issue is that it hates bright light. I have big doors in the living room and kitchen which are south facing. The living room has a cream carpet and when the sun is shining bright on it the hoover backs off and gets all angsty. This also happens on the kitchen floor which is dark wood but only when the doors are open (sun is brighter on it with the doors open). Anyone else have this issue?

Yes. It's because the drop sensors think the light is because of a step or drop, so it won't go over it. I just set close our curtains in the months its an issue.

@mumsiedarlingrevolta

Well now I want one.

Will it go under/round stools at breakfast bar?

Yes, it will try to mount them occasionally but it will work out it isn't a threshold and reverse itself.

Grin haha I'm sure I'd get a rebel as well knowing my luck...

@Trashtara aha! So not a vampire then. Problem is we don't have any curtains as we have a very private garden. Any other way to 'shield' it other than walk along side it casting a shadow which is what I currently do. Grin

Can any parent help me with my query…

Can you run him upstairs, and have him not fall down the stairs?

Can he move from a carpeted area onto bare floorboards without trouble?

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 14/08/2020 15:05

@skyliner I think the problem I'm having means that it senses edges and backs away from them. I've had no problem with mine going between hard and carpeted surfaces.

@Thesaltandthesea- I have a spaniel and a eufy - no more balls of fur in the kitchen and along the edges in the hallway.

I love love my eufy - it hates wires so they have to be tucked up away.

We have a thick pile rug it’s not a fan of it but tries to hoover it regularly. Has lost a brush once or twice but easier enough to put back on.

It has made life so easy - I carry it upstairs and leave it to get on with it. The edging function works well around the bottom of the bed.

Ancientgran, if you buy one for yourself and your DD and son in law spot it, they will be begging you to get them one.

My teens love hoovering with Eufy. It's worth it for that alone. Hoovering is now their job.

Morfin I assume we are all real, I am certainly, nevertheless I think it is about time Eufy sent us all Cake or Flowers or even Gin for such valuable advertising.

Ha I was another one who saw the threads! Bought one last week. Wonderful little fella I'm in love Grin

We've got a big open plan room and with lockdown and everyone being here all the time, all meals here etc plus no cleaner plus both working full time things had gone to pot rather.

Now we have no more stuff dumped on the floor and it's immaculate!

Got a g10 with mop.

The mop won't deal with really old/ dried in stains but I reckon if you deal with them (now there's more time!) And run him every day he'll keep on top of it.

He's just amazing Grin

@Parkandride thanks, I might be safe then. I don't want to come on mumsnet and see a thread about a rude mother/mil insinuating they have a dirty house.

@Trashtara thank you, I think I might be brave enough to do it. I'd hate to spend the money and cause offence.

@Trashtara snap Grin I bet there's a lot of Euphegenia Doubtfitres out there!

@Morfin I'm definitely real. A sheep yes, but definitely real. This is the first MN purchase I've made though that actually lives up to the hype.

Oh that fucking babyliss big hair.

Just bought some skincare stuff though off a rec on another thread and excited to try that as it's way way cheaper than what I normally get and has way more sciencey sounding bollocksy waffle about the ingredients Grin

The window Vac is OK. Not as good as Eufy and maybe doesn't quite do what it says it does because you still have to "rub up" windows but it does make the job much easier and quicker.

I didn't realise how often I fall for this....

Oh that fucking babyliss big hair. I've had two of these and love it (except for the occasional tangle when I'm not paying attention). Do other people not like them?

I'm real by the way as is my vampire robocop.
