Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.

Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

Gosh if you want to spend £200ish each on a gift I think you can do better than a vacuum. I'd certainly speak to them first. It's the sort of useful gift me and my mum like but MIL and SIL would be very offended and also why for the women , not the men in their lives?! I do admit I love my Eufy far more than DH does though Grin

I was thinking of buying it for daughter and her husband, he is a man so not sure why you think it is just for women? Oh just thought did you think I meant sister in law? No it was daughter and son in law, busy young couple who like a clean house, I was only thinking of buying one but if it was a success I'd probably get one for son and his partner as well but thought I'd get one first to see if it was a success. Son also likes to give some ideas for presents whereas daughter likes surprises hence I would try it with her first.

ancientgran · 14/08/2020 14:15

I think son in law does more vacuuming than daughter, she has a long commute so he tends to do stuff before she gets home, so he would probably think it was his present not hers.

Sorry, I thought you meant 2 vacuums one for DD and one for SisterIL, it was me who jumped to the female stereotype Blush

ancientgran · 14/08/2020 14:19

@FinnyStory no worries, it is confusing. After my last post I realised son's partner does more vacuuming than him, again he is the one with the commute, but it's starting to look like my kids pick partners on their ability with a vacuum. Perhaps buying a eufy would end their relationships! I might have to think again.

Watching with interest. Been wanting one for a while.

TimeTruthandHearts · 14/08/2020 14:19

I feel a bit disloyal to the sisterhood by making ours female, but I just knew I had to name her Euphegenia Doubtfire Grin

I bought one recently but not because of any threas on here. The only thing I have found an issue is that it hates bright light. I have big doors in the living room and kitchen which are south facing. The living room has a cream carpet and when the sun is shining bright on it the hoover backs off and gets all angsty. This also happens on the kitchen floor which is dark wood but only when the doors are open (sun is brighter on it with the doors open). Anyone else have this issue?

Lurkingforawhile · 14/08/2020 14:38

This is my favourite thread! Love the eufy stories, esp the coathanger tussle! Grin

Are you sure it’s not a vampire?
Parkandride · 14/08/2020 14:42

I'd bloody love my mum to buy me one Grin
I really want one now...

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 14/08/2020 14:43

Mine is just called robocop.

How do we connect it to Alexa?

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 14/08/2020 14:45

Are you sure it’s not a vampire?

Funnily enough we make the same comment here - and while we laugh, I'm still suspicious.... Grin

EatsShootsAndRuns · 14/08/2020 14:47

I'm trying to justify it to myself so I can plant the idea in DH’s head then he can suggest getting one in a week or so. Then he can counter my very weak ”objections” and sell it to himself with his positivity. Wink

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 14/08/2020 14:48

And does the c30 have an edge function? Mine seems to bounce away from the dges when it gets close.

And yes, you are correct, I haven't read the instructions. Grin

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/08/2020 14:48

I hope mine isn’t a vampire. I have a south facing sunny house.

I’ve ordered one now! Very excited.

Trashtara · 14/08/2020 14:53

@Atadaddicted

I have lots of little rooms, often with one step between them. How would it cope with a single stair?
It wouldn't. You'd have to manually move it.
ouch321 · 14/08/2020 14:53

I got one after it featured over and over on a What's the best thing you've ever bought? thread about a month back.
I got it for £130 from Amazon. It's ok but I'm a bit underwhelmed from all the hyping up.

Trashtara · 14/08/2020 14:55

*Thank you.
But If get the 30c I could set parameters I wouldn’t go down the steps?

Ok going through doorways?*

You don't need to set parameters. They have drop sensors that stop it falling down steps. It goes through doorways fine, sometimes takes a few tries as it can't "see" it just keeps going until it's whiskers hit something sold.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 14/08/2020 14:56

Well now I want one.

Will it go under/round stools at breakfast bar?

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 14/08/2020 14:56

@DobbyTheHouseElk please let me know if it is. I don't kno if this is a 'thing' or whether I need to send it back. It's definitely worse when full sun is hitting the light carpet. When the sun comes out again I'll video it.

I think it would make a great present. DH bought one for us - he knows I hate hoovering almost as much as he does so it was win win!

That's what ours is called!!!!
JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 14/08/2020 14:58

@mumsiedarlingrevolta mine tries to mount the island stools. I'm starting to worry I have a deviant Eufy Hmm

TrickyD · 14/08/2020 14:58

Atad it won’t go down steps other than very low thresholds as it has a sensor which prevents it. No need to barricade stairs etc.
Nor can It climb up steps, except low threshold types.

Wouldn’t it be nice if someone invented a version for doing the stairs?
Maybe on the principal of a Slinky, flipping down from step to step.
