Wow! I had no idea sepsis killed so many! 😲

Jaxhog · 08/08/2020 21:23

anti dementors (will try to find happiness where we can!)

Being happy doesn't mean ignoring the rules and condemning people to death by COVID, surely? Can you really not find some joy in life any other way?

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 08/08/2020 21:23

i fall somewhere in between. Well i did until i saw the disgusting ableism from the group referred to as dementors.

It was school "discussions" that drove me here - and in end I'm very glad.

Expressing concerns about DD1 Y10 should have been sitting actual GCSE exams these past months her school and work or lack that she was given - dismissed as teacher bashing or not important.

Since then DDad ended up in hopsital due to lack of GP treatment due to covid procedures.

Though I agree the lack of awareness about people who can't wear masks and the complete lack of concern for their well being is pretty fucking awful.

Drivingdownthe101 · 08/08/2020 21:25

When I was in intensive care recovering from sepsis I was told I had been approx an hour away from death. I got it as a result of mastitis, and was told it was fairly common as your milk supply is so closely connected to your blood supply. We don’t ban breastfeeding, do we?

I, like nearly everyone on here, am following the rules where I am - - so not sure what this actually means.

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane

Just for you then *@helenadove*
That is fucking shocking is it in the UK?

I put this on an earlier thread I think but will repeat. There was a lady in a report on BBC news who was too afraid to go to hospital which possible sespis incase she got covid. She was youngish (below 40). Her chances of dying of covid were low but it still scared her so much she endangered her health. A good example of how this has caused some to lose any perspective

TheOrchidKiller · 08/08/2020 21:30

On a similar theme to people forgetting that covid isn't the only illness, a friend was genuinely upset about the more severe side-effects of covid, such as stroke. She said of very unwell covid patients, "Their families' lives will never be the same again."

I agreed, but pointed out that many families have to deal with devastating & life-changing conditions every day, & had always done so long before covid.

I also worry a bit that covid, although feared, will also become a "worthy" disease that gets better funded & has people raising money for it. There's nothing wrong with that of course, & clearly there needs to be funding for research into treatments etc. But I can see people ranking it as more worthy of support than something like dementia, or other "Cinderella" diseases.

Maybe that's a bit controversial for a Saturday night...

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 08/08/2020 21:31

@Littlebelina it was posted by a giant Scottish nurse filling in forms to revoke your ventilator access.

I’ve read it several times and I think it reads “American”. But the sentiment works in the uk just fine too.

Reedwarbler · 08/08/2020 21:32

Only just catching up on the recent pages. Sloe gin is lovely (pricked sloes, sugar, gin) but what is also lovely is blackberry brandy (blackberries, sugar, brandy). The blackberries are very early this year and a very good crop. I've never seen so many. Do it now and it will be perfect in time for Christmas.

In fact, thinking back to the ‘roolz’ I have broken...

I walked for 1.5 hours when everyone on here was claiming that you could only exercise for an hour (which was bollocks).
I went in someone’s garden with 7 other people so our (socially distanced) gathering was slightly too large.
I probably don’t stay exactly 2 meters from my dad when he comes in my house.

If you think that’s ‘condemning people to death’ then you’re insane.
Why bother coming on to these threads when you haven’t got a fucking clue what they’re actually about, spouting hyperbole and accusing people of stuff that patently isn’t true?
Just fuck off.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 08/08/2020 21:34

@Jaxhog someone’s drawn a dog’s donut bum hole on your clipboard. whistles innocently Let me get that for you. spits on hanky and rubs

MaxNormal · 08/08/2020 21:34

I hadn't realised I was finding joy by ignoring rules, given that I've been sticking to them.
Mind you I've been rather battling to find joy recently, maybe not condeming myriads of grannies to death is where I've been going wrong?

I had mastitis with second couple of times - no-one mentioned septis as a risk or what to look out for.

It was really hard to get help as well having just moved there we weren't in system and it's the only place I've lived in UK were people just wouldn't give you local information. We were luckly to wonder past a newly opened children center and a staff member there helped us find a GP as NHS insisted nearest was 5 miles away - which wasn't at all true.

Though on a recent places you lived you hated I found many posters felt similar about the area.

Yeah maybe we should try playing on random threads we very clearly haven't read know fuck all about and try telling people what to do...

Oh wait no... See that wouldn't bring me joy.

Drivingdownthe101 · 08/08/2020 21:41

Yes I had no idea it was a risk either. I had symptoms of mastitis in the evening, was too exhausted to go to the out of hours so thought I’d leave it until the morning, by the morning I was on death’s door!
Whenever anyone mentions mastitis symptoms now I urge them to get seen straight away.

DrearyWallAntler · 08/08/2020 21:41

Aubergines are the devil's work.

If y'all kick me out out I'm taking my sewers with me.

So ner.

TheOrchidKiller · 08/08/2020 21:41

@Littlebelina

You are right. People are not getting medical attention when they need it. Reasons told to me have been (a) "I might catch covid in hospital" (from people with symptoms which were medical emergencies) & (b) "because the NHS might get overwhelmed"(from PILs when one of them was clearly quite unwell).

The fear of catching one illness has lead to people neglecting themselves, & in some cases with awful consequences. Covid could lead to severe illness. So can numerous other diseases.

I don't like aubergines either. Horrible soggy things.

I think this thread is very confusing from the outside.

I’ve not read all of @jaxhog’s posts but the one here seemed polite and made a point.I don’t think it is OK to tell them to F off. I think it is personal and against MN guidelines.

I am all for joy in these days of frustration and hardship. I am fully on board with attempts to find joy with the rules.

But is this thread about making fun of the rules and saying it is OK to break them? Genuine question.

And what about the peaceful protests. What are they for?

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 08/08/2020 21:46

Things that have brought us joy - Disney +and Morrsisons boxes.

We've now had family time working through all the avenger movies in order and watched all the Mandalorian as a family which was really nice.

Saw amazon prime, which we have has, Knives out - so might try that after our BBQ box tommorow and thinking of stumping up for Netflix.

I'm going to get a another morrison 5 recipies for 4 people meal box so they can practise cooking next week.

I've also started getting sparklers and smaller quieter home fireworks for November -so we can sit out and do something in back garden.

TheOrchidKiller · 08/08/2020 21:47

@DrearyWallAntler I forgot about your sewers! Off to look at some maps, or at some photos of decaying buildings.

Am intrigued by the roasted, mashed aubergine. Might give that a try.

All this talk of gin has got me eyeing up the side-board. I've had a gin already but there's some Aperol on there with my name on...

Hope you all sleep well.

Haven't seen Domina today. Hope you are ok.

No, that’s not what this thread is about. It’s a long running support thread (I think we’re on around number 17 now). I think ‘fuck off’ was justified, if MN don't agree then they’re welcome to delete, I won’t be offended.
