Or any fast food really😳

My food intake is really good usually. It's just the pesky wine. And worse, the pesky beer.

WouldBeGood · 11/08/2020 17:46

I want fish and chips now. With salad of course- life on the edge.

BogRollBOGOF · 11/08/2020 18:26

Had a Rishi Dishi at the new cafe in the next village. On the back of this thread, I had a super food salad with added smoked salmon. Grin Interesting combinations, but it worked really well. Full price would be a bit much for a casual lunch with cake, so the Rishi Dishi paid off well, especially as it's too hot to do our favourite McWalk (4 mile round trip) and it's not opened other than the drive thru anyway (a bit small for social distancing inside). I suspect the Rishi Dishi is good for them trying to establish a new business and new clientelle.

DS2 was full of the joys of life with his brand new pokemon go account, plus the cafe is within range of a pokestop Grin

On the basis of this thread, I made a variety of salads for supper. DH was his usual appreciative self. As for the children, they had brief tries before deciding no way. Still, that's an improvement. They tried!

I had a funny experience today. Our libraries are doing that click and collect thing so I clicked and arranged to collect. When I got there, they all seemed utterly astonished that a library user would come to, of all places, a library and ask for, of all things, books! .

It makes me think I had better do this more so that they know there is demand. I might even take advantage of their offer to make up a selection of books in a genre I like.

And lastly, remind me not to leave this thread for the rest of MN. Yet another hidden disabilities thread which didn't even get one page before someone told us to try harder. Sigh.

I reported it (as I suspect many others did) and it has been deleted, thankfully.

Thanks, Driving.

BakewellTarts · 11/08/2020 19:42

We are timing eating out this week badly so maybe next week for a Rishi.

Did our bit and had salad for lunch though. Yummy Greek Salad with lots of Olives and Feta.

😄😄😄

I had salad for tea only it turned out like steak pie, pots and salad veg!

Drivingdownthe101 · 11/08/2020 20:10

Salad here too... doing my bit for virus transmission.
Well... steak, chips and salad anyway.

TheOrchidKiller · 11/08/2020 20:32

Too hot & tired for anything.
I had salad for lunch.
Have also mistimed eating out this week, but don't really fancy sitting in a hot restaurant.

Finished work late as it was my turn to be in the office & man the phones. It is the law that someone must phone in with a big problem about 20 minutes before home time. There was no one else in the office to help because they were all practising social distancing by "WFH" by reclining on a sunlounger with a cold drink & wearing shorts & a vest, the lucky sods Not jealous at all.

I did hear a lovely radio interview with an enthusiastic head teacher in Scotland, saying how great it was to have the kids back in school. He said there were a tiny number who were absent for non-covid reasons, which was no different to usual. Sounded positive.

Pennypie · 11/08/2020 20:34

According to the DM, flu has been a bigger killer than covid19 for the past 7 weeks in England and Wales:
"A total of 6,626 people died of flu between June 19 and July 31, compared to 2,992 victims of coronavirus"

justasking111 · 11/08/2020 20:36

Soo muggy today we did not have the will to eat out meal wise, but I did have two scoops of mango and passionfruit ice cream in a tub from our local italian ice cream seller. It was bloody lovely sat and ate it on the quay in the sunshine.

So mad with myself went out to freezer in garage it was in such a muddle as is the freezer in the house, emptied it out, had a clear out and brought some stuff indoors. Defrosted freezer with lots of hot water and a hair dryer. Filled freezer job done. Tonight OH said why is there food on the garage floor. Sh1t, a bag of sea bass 8 fillets, a bag of haddock fillets, a bag of potato croquettes and a bag of ice cubes. I could have cried. Fish cooked off for dogs rations now, pots. in the bin. No bluddy ice for cold drinks Sad

TheOrchidKiller · 11/08/2020 20:50

@justasking111 oh no!
Your dog must be happy though.

My dread during "proper" lockdown when the supermarkets had been ransacked, was the freezer door being left open & it defrosting.

I still give the door a firm push shut on my way to bed each night.

And New Zealand has locked down Auckland, including closing schools, because they've had 4 cases. All in one family. Complete and utter madness.

DominaShantotto · 11/08/2020 21:51

We had a lovely Rishi at our local Italians (drove past our local Weatherspoons which was absolutely rammed to hell on the seating area outside - there's been a lot of problems with anti social behaviour since it reopened anyway) which always runs quite a condensed menu anyway - they do stuff simply and do it well and at a really decent price and have done that for years - and yes, there were salad-type things available (if you count mozzarella, rocket and tomatoes as a starter as salad)

Poor lads in the kitchen in masks were visibly melting!

bakingcupcakes · 11/08/2020 21:54

I also had salad for tea...

I'm astounded by the madness in New Zealand too. It makes me wonder if this will ever end.

Brilliant article, you murderers will love it. Am debating sharing it on my FB... Not sure if I dare be so openly anti lockdown.

justasking111 · 11/08/2020 21:57

They really are odd in new zealand, one family locks down a city. Dementor heaven perhaps.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 11/08/2020 21:58

It's not a rant, btw, realised the headline is a bit of an attention grabber. Huge number of references to studies from multiple disciplines.

BogRollBOGOF · 11/08/2020 22:05

Our freezer has had the fuse switch taped down for the last 5 years...
DS2 (2) flicked it and we didn't realise until I was getting ready for work and discovered that the contentsvwere room temperature and very soggy. The whole lot had to be frantically pulled out and dumped while still trying to get to work/ nursery on time.

How I do not have more grey hair after keeping that child alive for 7 years, I do not know Grin

I saw that one. So so true. Worthy of a thread, but I'm not that masochistic Wink

Amazing article, thank you.

@TuckMyWin - I was astonished at NZ too.

I wonder how future generations will view this all. It feels like mass hysteria on a global scale.

God only knows how future generations will judge us.
