Colour catchers. No need to be as picky with separating colours when doing the laundry.

not a small purchase, but a robot hoover. Oh my god. Its amazing. Our house needs a decent hoover every day- dog, cats, open fireplace, toddler (and us) in and out of the garden all day. Without it the house looks filthy very quickly.

Have been struggling to manage as now heavily pregnant & have some PGP, DH still working long hours. He bought this hoover and the house feels constantly clean! I am in love.

@psychomath make sure you switch the toaster off at the plug socket if you are going to stick a metal knife into it!! Otherwise you risk an electric shock x

Spray face tan (light) for my face - no make up needed and I don't look like a ghost anymore

White high gloss furniture and minimal look - dust in seconds and saves time on housework.

Organising the home to be minimal and clutter free so lots of free time and tidy looking home without much effort

A Bodum aluminium recycling coffee pod device. I used to scrape out the coffee with a teaspoon before recycling. It used to take me ages. Now, you just put it in this little plastic device, push down and it turns the pod inside out and collects the used coffee grouts in a little container. Amazing!

Wow I never thought of dehumidifier to dry clothes! Will give it a go when tumble dryer also full and working

EyeDrops · 04/08/2020 08:40

Not a purchase, but I put some old shoeboxes into my undies drawer - one for pants, socks, tights, etc. No more rummaging, and (this is so sad) it makes me genuinely happy when I open the drawer to see it all neat!

Little net hanging bags for soap bars - feel great to use, keep soap dry between uses - cleaner than shower gel and saves plastic

Pepperwand · 04/08/2020 08:59

A set of 12 black flannels, ridiculously cheap. I've spent years not properly cleaning my face at night just using wipes or micellar water. Now just whack on some cleanser, wet the flannel with warm water and wring out then wash my face. Takes about 30 seconds max and my skin looks so much better! Because I've got a lot of flannels I can just chuck one in the wash when I've used it and I've always got another to hand.

It’s a complete game changer. Clothes dry fast and the room doesn’t feel damp - when you empty the tank on the dehumidifier, you realise how much water you’re chucking at the walls!

I bough a pack of 20 ‘diy cotton cloths’ a few years ago. Looking at them I thought ‘these are fantastic, thin, small, face cloths surely ?’ They are ! I too use them to apply moisturiser, wash face etc. They cost maybe 15p each, dry quickly etc.

MobLife · 04/08/2020 10:48

@Bridecilla medium egg straight from the fridge in to a pan of properly boiling water for 5mins exactly. Add 20 seconds for a large egg
Leave to stand for a minute or so and you should have your runny egg!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/08/2020 11:18

I get those veg/yarn holder bags free with every order of yarn from Lovecrafts. Which is quite a lot lately since I’ve been doing masses of lockdown knitting.

Does that egg timer work with all sizes of egg? Would it produce my own perfect boiled egg (runny yolk but absolutely no remotely uncooked white) whatever the size?

EasilyDelighted · 04/08/2020 11:21

I get the bags with my yarn from Wool Warehouse but they snag and start fraying fairly quickly and the part which holds the ribbon isn't very robust, the Sainsburys ones are much better. Never tried Lovecrafts though.

EasilyDelighted · 04/08/2020 11:23

I couldn't get one of those egg timers to work. My method is eggs at room temperature, into the pan, add boiling water from the kettle switch gas on full, timer for 6 mins, remove and cut open within 30s. Gives a pretty reliable runny yolk / solid white.

Lakeland oven liners
Freezing food sideways in the freezer so you can see exactly what's in the drawer when you pull it out and not have to rake through the drawer to see
Frozen chopped garlic, ginger and herbs (I dont like the frozen onion)
A tumble dryer

PuppyMonkey · 04/08/2020 11:32

Giving up ironing.

bert3400 · 04/08/2020 11:36

All my sheets and duvet covers are boxed into size , single, double, king. We live abroad and have a lot of guest rooms - so when we have visitors I can quickly make the beds , without having to open up the sheets to see what size they are .

Meditation. Just 10 minutes, or even 1 minute. Really helps with. y sleep, mental health and generally makes me a nicer person to be around.

mdh2020 · 04/08/2020 18:50

A four tier cooling rack as seen on Bake Off. I used to have cooling cakes and loaves all over the dining room table.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 04/08/2020 18:54

An egg cooker. It does up to 7 boiled eggs using very little water. It has a noisy alarm on it when it's done, so you don't have to watch your egg pan and can do other stuff.

Ace1185 · 04/08/2020 18:59

Frozen pre chopped herbs and onions

portocristo · 04/08/2020 19:46
