Colour catchers. No need to be as picky with separating colours when doing the laundry.

OP posts:

Insinkerator- couldn’t live without it anymore!

Nitpickpicnic · 03/08/2020 22:55

Colour Catchers for sure!

But I just can’t fathom why no one else I know buys them, even after I rave? I get that people get stuck in laundry habits, but why wouldn’t you leap on a solution that cuts back on water, detergent and halves your time in the laundry? I’m stumped!

BitOfFun · 03/08/2020 22:55

This in-the-pan egg timer. Now I have perfect dippy eggs, whereas they were so hit and miss before, I never bothered.

Agree with frozen chopped onions and PayPal.

Frozen crushed garlic too.

Buying far too many socks and pants for DC, therefore never having to search for the one clean pair.

Denture tablets to clean thermos and water bottles.

I really shouldn't post on this thread or I will end up on a shopping spree.

Yes to many of the above (toaster tongs, decent underbed storage, chilly bottle)

Another Lakeland nomination from me - silicone baking tray liners. No more stuck or burnt on food on baking trays.

Chrispackhamspoodle · 03/08/2020 22:57

This IKEA fabric draining mat.Never enough room.on my draining tray and tupperware/glasses dry really quickly on it.I just bored myself saying that.

@Malteserdiet

Magnetic wooden toaster tongs - revelation
Yes these exactly!
LittleHootie · 03/08/2020 22:57

Ooh I want a charger that fits everything!

coronaornona · 03/08/2020 22:57

@Sittingonthefence83

A long cable to charge my phone so I can comfortably use it in bed without having to lean over to one side Grin
Yes these too
Enko · 03/08/2020 22:58

Keeping odd socks in the veg bags from Sainsbury in some order So I have black socks, coloured, stripes, patterns. sports, ankle socks then I just sort what came out of the washing get the bags out and pairing socks for 6 people is no longer an hour-long job.

Nitpickpicnic · 03/08/2020 22:59

Oh, and speaking of laundry hacks, I LOVE my washing line ‘octopus’. He hangs by a single hook, and has loads on little pegs on him. Perfect for kids teeny socks and underwear (and adult sockettes).

Allows kids to help with the washing (pegging stuff on and off, down at their level) and so quick to bring indoors (and back out) when the weather changes.

Lulooo · 03/08/2020 23:00

Spray floor mop.
No need for mop buckets and reusing dirty water. No more wringing with all my strength and then still needing to keep off the floor for 10 mins til it dries. Much more hygienic way of mopping.

EasilyDelighted · 03/08/2020 23:02

Oh yes, the veg bags from Sainsburys make brilliant yarn holders, stop the balls of wool in my project bag getting tangled up.

Don't get the colour catcher love though, we just separate laundry into whites and colours, we have no need for them and they aren't all that cheap.

BlessYourCottonSocks · 03/08/2020 23:04

Magnetic backed notepad stuck to fridge door. You can write your shopping list as you run out of things. Top leaf tears off.. Marvellous!

Notebook on bedside table means I can write stuff down that I think of in the wee small hours and then go back to sleep instead of stressing about it.

Small handbag instead of massive one. Means I've only got the stuff I actually need and I can find it instead of rummaging for hours.

HeronLanyon · 03/08/2020 23:04

Audiobooks and podcasts.
Booking things ‘now not later’ (pre Covid)
My £3 coffee drip filter cone
My lime squeezer.

Notlostjustexploring · 03/08/2020 23:04

Really obvious, but key hooks. Lose everything else, but never my keys.

Shoe basket. Put at the same place we normally dump shoes, but now we dump them in a basket and it looks neater.

Charging wires (long) in bedroom, living room and kitchen. Also in the car.

Ecovibe wood fibre/pulp kitchen sponge. Nicer to use than plastic, and I'm slowly trying to reduce plastic.

Dunelm folding ottomans. Hides loads of toys.

terracottapot · 03/08/2020 23:05

The potato peeler.

KurriKawari · 03/08/2020 23:05

@Lulooo which mop do you have?

BitOfFun · 03/08/2020 23:09

Can anybody link to or post a picture of the Sainsbury's veg bags, please? Google hasn't helped.

YorkshireParentalPerson · 03/08/2020 23:10

@namechangedforthecraic

I don't understand the point of the toaster tongs? We were bought some but I don't know why I would need them?
It's for idiots like me who shoves a knife down the toaster when the toast gets stuck. The wood means you don't blow the house fuses every time, you can safely pull out the stuck toast. My dh bought me some after the 2nd time I had blown the fuses!😀
labyrinthloafer · 03/08/2020 23:12

Expensive scissors (Fiskars) so now I get a nice straight crisp edge every time. Kids know I will combust if they cut sellotape with them.

EasilyDelighted · 03/08/2020 23:12

@BitOfFun they are with the fruit and veg in store. I use one as a portable yarn bowl and another with the other balls for the same project all in my project bag, just swap them in and out when I change colour

Enko · 03/08/2020 23:14
