Colour catchers. No need to be as picky with separating colours when doing the laundry.

A standing desk. I have a desk job and was always getting back/hip/knee pains, not helped by being overweight and not getting any exercise during the day. Even getting up from the desk was a struggle/painful so I'd get up and move as little as possible.

Saw standing desks on a TV documentary and thought I'd give it a try.

It has tranformed my life! (No not joking). I thought I'd start by standing just an hour or so, but from day 1 I was standing several hours. Because I was already stood up, I moved around more - to the copier, to the filing room, etc whereas in the past I'd store things up and do it all at once. Yes, a few aches and pains at first, but weeks turned into months which have turned into years and now I literally never sit at my desk and I'm on the go all the time, moving around the office, etc Lost a couple of stones in weight and the back/hip/knee pains have disappeared.

Camomile tea

@user1497207191 which desk did you get? I've seen some foldable ones which I like the look of because I dont have the space to have it out permanently. But they're all made out of cardboard and I dont want to spend that much on what looks like an amazon box!

Booking.com I book hotels in advance and a lot of them you can pay on the day you arrive and cancel for free up until the night before your trip.

Not having to change duvet covers for the majority of the year. I’ve machined double 1 tog and 4 tog quilts into the covers and put the whole thing in the machine. Dries really quickly. So only the coldest few months when I’m using a 9 tog do I have to struggle with putting on clean covers.

King size duvet on a double sized bed. Game changer.

Robot hoover......... especially as I have a dog.

planningaheadtoday · 04/08/2020 21:59

Heated blanket.

I bought three extra long phone chargers for around the house. Love this so much.

I put an easy chair in the garden room and I can sit and drink my tea in peace listening to classic FM and enjoying my garden.

MrsGrindah · 04/08/2020 21:59

@Nicknamegoeshere oh I want a baby daughter! Where do you get those from then?!

SkiingIsHeaven · 04/08/2020 22:01

The Trello app.

Organise work, home stuff to be done, recipe ideas, weekends, kids chores etc on different pages.

Really useful lists on steroids.

I love a list.

Perspirex. One tiny bottle lasts at least 6 months. No white marks on clothes or environmental waste from aerosols etc. Completely effective.

I admit it can be a challenge at first as it can be quite irritating/itchy when you first start using it, but after that you only need to apply it once or twice a week, even when (as I do) you shower daily.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/08/2020 22:29

My dyson cordless.
Nesspresso machine and Aerocino

Musmerian · 04/08/2020 22:35

Love this thread. Good quality bedding. I bought a White Company Duvet colour in the sales and I love it so much. Washes beautifully and feels lovely. Huge cashmere scarf - £50 in TK Maxx and I really hesitated before buying it but I have a train and bus commute every morning and it’s like wearing a duvet.

SusieSusieSoo · 04/08/2020 22:39

I bought a Bosch fridge freezer it is utterly brilliant

OhioOhioOhio · 04/08/2020 22:46

New towels. Not getting dried on old scraggy towels has improved my confidence a lot.

Davros · 05/08/2020 00:03

Sage tea maker
Socktopus (thanks to MN)
Wooden toaster tings, especially good for croissants
Heated airer but not Lakeland tower one, wrong shape for my room, long flat one with heated wings £30 from amazon
Apple TV
BBC sounds app
Bedspread which is only on during daytime except when it's very cold but it makes the bed look very tidy and smart while there's all kinds of shit duvets and covers underneath

lifeafter50 · 05/08/2020 08:03

Magnetic Bluetooth earbuds. Now listen to podcasts constantly which have saved my sanity as can do long walks etc and learn at the same time.

remainin · 05/08/2020 08:13

Standing bedroom fan (Rowenta). It's so quiet, even on the fastest setting. I'm lying on my bed as I type this, glorying in the cool breeze!

Nicknamegoeshere · 05/08/2020 09:01

@MrsGrindah I didn't think I'd get one either! Left an awful ex-husband six years ago when I was in my thirties and already had two boys. Vowed I'd stay single again forever but ended up meeting a great man who had no children and after much consideration we had one together! It's...err...interesting having a 13 and 10 year-old plus a new baby girl but all good fun!

42andcounting · 05/08/2020 12:51

Some adult improvers swimming lessons and a nose clip. I spent years lolloping and coughing in the water like a beached whale, but after 4 lessons (£5 each) and a £1 plastic nose clip I was already seeing a huge difference. Swimming changed from something I felt I had to do occasionally as a life skill to a peaceful and satisfying hour every week. I'm missing it so much in lockdown, can't wait for the pool to open again!

On a similar note, a cycling lesson from a professional teacher. Never managed to learn how to ride a bike until I did this in my late 40s, £20 well spent. I'll never be amazing at it, but at least I can go for a family bike ride with my daughter and husband now Grin

AlCalavicci · 05/08/2020 13:21

Ooh where do I start ,
EUFY robot vac
Silicone egg poach cups

Long phone charge cables and one upstairs, one down stairs and one in my bag.
Lakeland oven cleaner
Lakeland veg bags ( like PP)
Coat and shoe stand
Dish cloths ( instead of sponges )
Shampoo bars

KITTEN !

AlCalavicci · 05/08/2020 13:30

Ooh i forgot, if you have both kingsize and double quilts write a D or K inside the cover and on the quilt .
I also write End / side on the quilt so I don't get half way through putting a cover on before realising it's the wrong size / way round

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 05/08/2020 14:51

Two things that I can't live without are my spider catcher and my back scratcher.
