@justasking111 I feel for her - our teams have been working non stop getting everything ready. We have all taken pay cuts when coming off furlough as we believe in our company so much and want things to work out so we can keep on doing what we do best. I am just so fucked off about this situation on all levels.

Ibake · 04/08/2020 22:30

@Sherlockscurlylocks don't worry I will! Don't normally need much encouragement at the best of times but now I consider it my moral duty.

justasking111 · 04/08/2020 22:30
@ibake I love you! You are the sort of guest that we love to see come back in. Please make the most of your discount this month!
lol @Sherlockscurlylocks the pub we went to was not doing the discount thing. OH was a bit put out for a minute but the food was so good he chilled out Grin

Sherlockscurlylocks · 04/08/2020 22:37

@ibake go for it (and then comply with the goverment's exercise regime!)

@justasking111 pm me and I will see if we have somewhere close enough to make it worth your while visiting us Grin. I can see why some places aren't doing it as it hasn't been made entirely clear how it benefits the sites but once you work out all the red tape it is worthwhile for the sites that do register. The scheme has been good for me as I have looked at trying new places to eat so I may find a new favourite restaurant moving forward.

justasking111 · 04/08/2020 22:50

@Sherlockscurlylocks. We headed for the hills today, and will until the tourists have gone N Wales is pretty grid locked at the moment in a lot of areas. Come September when the schools go back it will be much quieter.

I am cross that some hotels holiday lets have been naughty cancelling stays, then re-advertising them at a higher cost. I know they have suffered a very short season but it does seem unfair.

Willow2017 · 04/08/2020 22:52

Welcome Sherlockscurlylocks.

I am in a bit of downer tonight too for various reasons due to my crappy life and the whole "we are keeping you safe" shit.. well I have been working since last year in busy supermarket right through the madness when it was packed at xmas and the mad panic shopping when covid was already here. Nobody kept me safe. There wasn't even hand sanitizer for us until late March. So sod off. I kept my family in food and a roof over their heads like thousands of others with no choice in many industries did and took responsibility for myself so fuck off.
And the amount of crap we are putting up with in cafes to keep customers 'safe' is crazy yet the staff are working within inches of each other as usual. Nobody gives two as long as the place is busy and sales are rocketing and it certainly is busy now.
Its crap isn't it? The whole dangling a carrot then taking it away if we dont behave by the gov is pathetic. They think they are supernanny and the whole population are toddlers p's me off no end. People have real life shit going on yet the gov, 'scientists' et all in thier ivory bloody towers are holding sway over our lives like it's a game. Oh what bullshit will they fall for this week? I know let's make sex illegal. Its ok if your oh works away and you only see them 2 weeks a month as long as you live together sometimes but if you have been together 10 years and live apart due to circumstances its illegal! Just get a freaking grip you tossers. Its all bullshit.

PickAChew · 04/08/2020 22:52

Is it me or has the dementoring on mn reached a new high again? Fine. If you don't feel safe going to a restaurant, don't bloody go. And have a gold star for cheerfully wearing your unicorn skin mask for eleventy hours straight. Now where would you like me to stick it?

Polkadotties · 04/08/2020 22:56

If you’re on Facebook please look up this lady and watch this video. I’m in bits over it. It’s regarding whistleblowing in carehomes and people being left to die. Most likely being reported as Covid deaths.
It’s a hard watch, be warned.

PickAChew · 04/08/2020 22:59

You rant far better than I do, @willow2017

I'm just tired. Ds2 has outgrown his pads (rather they changed them, so now they're too small) and doesn't like the adult ones so has chosen to wear pants. Dh ran out to tesco, last night, for a plastic laundry bin for all the accidents and 2 of the biggest boxes of daz available. I'm just glad I replaced our useless tumble dryer.

Sherlockscurlylocks · 04/08/2020 23:00

I think I love you all already! And yes the dementoring has been awful - I think it was the Eat Out to Help Out thread which finally triggered me.

First for the ignorance of thinking it applied for takeaways and then second for the dementors who said they would never darken the doors of somewhere to eat in because we are all germ infested places. I am sorry to say it but whilst we have always maintained high levels of hygiene throughout we have probably never been cleaner in our whole life and the other measures we have taken mean you are probably safer with us than anywhere else you could imagine. Plus we have still managed to do it will with a smile on our face and no angry glares at guests who actually dare to darken our doors. We know we can do this and do it well - we just want to let everyone else know we are keeping them safe but also giving them a healthy dose of a fun and normal life.

Willow2017 · 04/08/2020 23:03

Yes its crazy again. I gave up.

Staff have worked like Trojans to get things ok for reopening and we are working like maniacs all day to keep up the normality as much as poss. We have more to do for the same pay and it's extremely busy. We did have extra staff on to cope but now they are cutting back on staff due to overspending! Yet they are raking in the £££ and happily tell us how much each week.. So less staff but more work and they will expect the same results and to push for more sales with endless adverts and special offers alongside the half price deal. Its relentless the race to have the most sales each bloody week.

Yet none of it is good enough for the terminally stupid who won't go out till 2029 in case they come within 10 feet of some plague carrier.

Sherlockscurlylocks · 04/08/2020 23:04

@Willow2017 I really do feel for you. I was on furlough for three months and I hated every minute of it. I just wanted to be back in the workplace and doing my bit to help our lovely business survive this shitfest. It didn't help that all I read about was those on furlough were taking the piss. Um no!

justasking111 · 04/08/2020 23:08

Our local brewery pub opened up outdoors 140 covers, the full time staff coped DS and all the other students casuals got p45s at the beginning of lockdown. He was upset after three years working for them. Well now they have opened indoors to, it is chaos, the brewery will not allow them to rehire so meals are taking an age to arrive. It is a fine line between clawing back losses and pissing off customers. At another place yesterday two of my sons waited 55 minutes one salad and one burger. I would have walked out.

It is going to be a long while before businesses get their confidence back staffing wise.

Thanks ...I think😉

Hope you can sort out the pads/pants situation soon. Its one more stress you don't need.

Maybe I should shut up and stick to killing Natzis on xbox😀

HeIenaDove · 04/08/2020 23:12

Ive just come off of a thread where they seem to want masks outdoors.

justasking111 · 04/08/2020 23:13

Oh I forgot to tell you all. Remember I wrote to hospital early June asking when OH urgent op would take place, well I wrote again early July, then mid July, I did not get one acknowledgement. Well a week ago I wrote that unless I heard from them I would be contacting my MP and my Welsh assembly member. Still radio silence. So today I e-mailed both my MP and assembly member copying in the hospital with all the e-mails I had sent dated for proof.

24 minutes, yep 24 minutes later I received a response from the hospital apologising saying they had forwarded the others but would chase it up.

So nearly two months later I have had an acknowledgement of my enquiries.

Willow2017 · 04/08/2020 23:17

Sherlock yep it's all that hard work getting thrown in your face that is so annoying isn't it? Hope your place continues to thrive.
Justasking well it will go similar if they cut staff at mine. We cannot be serving customers and taking meals out at the same time. We arent allowed to clear tables as we return as we would normally do we have to take the big trolley and do many at once and sterilize tables. Cue backlog of unusable tables and dishes piling up if there aren't enough staff. Greed is the back of it in my place though. They want the place to be full on 11 hrs a day but not to pay the staff they need to manage it. Probably not the same in small independant places.

Absolute joke, that it took that to get an answer for something urgent.

Evening all. Pubs that don't serve food have had their opening date pushed back again here, 5 countries taken off our very short green list and I found an article saying aerosol May go through PPE.

Stop the world I want to get off.

Willow2017 · 04/08/2020 23:19

Justasking Did you ask them why it took them bloody months and now they can do it in 24 minutes? That's taking the p big time it's scandalous.

There are some very angry, understandably so, people on Twitter tonight
WouldBeGood · 04/08/2020 23:57

That’s cheered me up

MaxNormal · 05/08/2020 00:03

HeIenaDove the pass thing chilled me. The majority of South Africans were forced to carry passes under apartheid.

HeIenaDove · 05/08/2020 00:03

They marked the kids DOWN? Thats despicable

HeIenaDove · 05/08/2020 00:04

Oh Maxnormal wtf are people sleepwalking into.
