First bit of goid news in ages😀😀😀
NannyPhlegm · 05/08/2020 05:23

Wait a minute, they marked the results DOWN????
What...? Why...? Wtf.......???

chocolatesweets · 05/08/2020 05:33

They're snobby with huge egos. Cheered me up too. Despicable.

NannyPhlegm · 05/08/2020 06:10

@HeIenaDove

Ive just come off of a thread where they seem to want masks outdoors.
Oh I bet they do. I wouldn't be surprised if they were into masked sex as well. Let's go all out and permanently weld it to our faces like fucking Cybermen
InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 05/08/2020 06:52

Forgot to dry my cossie from the other day so have just had to put a wet one on. Ugh. I hope today improves!

countrygirl99 · 05/08/2020 07:03

We daren't take advantage of Rishi's dishes. Not because we are worried about catching anything but because DH is self employed and we are just coming up to his busy period. A call from track and trace would be a disaster so we need to minimise the chances. We are doing 1 outing next Friday, weather permitting. The rugby club are setting up tables on the training pitch with stands selling drinks and food. Mobile catering has been hard hit with little chance to recoup late summer so we are meeting friends there and keeping our fingers crossed. That will be it until after Christmas as things stand, can't risk it workwise. DS1 and his girlfriend are the same, neither can work from home. There must be a lot of households like ours and we all love to eat out.

ButterMeCrumpets · 05/08/2020 07:08

That is the worry with track and trace for eating out. I am ok as I WFH now (until when who knows) but it would be a pain for my DH although he could do it.

But we are taking the risk and booking meals inside at the local independent restaurant who we want to support. We normally eat in the week to avoid the masses as we like it quiet but in August that now means eating at the weekend to avoid the eat out deal rush 😆

OK which of you broke into the bbc and let this bloke out of his box? A fairly balanced article for once

I did see that and thought it might be pulled later for being too balanced Wink

Ibake · 05/08/2020 07:27

@Littlebelina was just coming on to post same article. Says a lot doesn't it that we've picked up on this for being unusual.

I saw that article too and nearly got whiplash from the shock of the balanced writing 😂
I wonder if it's because the writer is an actual Health Correspondent, with a background of understanding the statistics. Rather than the mainstream journos who are tasked with making the headlines as doom laden as possible

ButterMeCrumpets · 05/08/2020 07:43

Sssshh we don't want to alert the BBC. They may pull it for being too sensible Wink

Littlebelina · 05/08/2020 07:43

@ButterMeCrumpets do you think there is a desperate scramble at the BBC to work out how it got through the doom filters Grin

I was thinking someone snuck it through past the night watchman whilst they were sleeping Grin

MaudesMum · 05/08/2020 08:01

That's a great article - I've just posted it on facebook.

Today I'm meeting a group of friends for lunch in a pub which has extended its outdoor capacity by putting up a tent/marquee/awning. It is, of course, drizzling here, so I'm hoping its a substantial tent/marquee/awning or its not going to be much fun.

SomewhereEast · 05/08/2020 08:03

Nick Triggle has been pretty good for a while, but the BBC don't seem to use him much despite him actually having some relevant expertise

SomewhereEast · 05/08/2020 08:06

@Polkadotties

If you’re on Facebook please look up this lady and watch this video. I’m in bits over it. It’s regarding whistleblowing in carehomes and people being left to die. Most likely being reported as Covid deaths. It’s a hard watch, be warned.
I've been wondering about this for a while, especially given the ever growing discrepancy between hospital & non-hospital 'Covid' deaths.
Dowser · 05/08/2020 08:13

Love this
Honest answer..no , we wouldn’t.
Whatever I had in Nov that knocked me off my perch for 3-5 days, my dd in December and her dh in February which may or may not have been the corona con would e just been put down to a winter ailment.
One of us saw a doctor and we all did self healing.

It’s certainly made me think and not in a good way either.

Grr..none of us saw a doctor

Allflightscancelled · 05/08/2020 08:17

My honest answer to that @Dowser is 'no'. My aunt's death was recorded as Covid. She was 93, very ill and frail in a care home and said she longed to die, so Covid was at most the straw the broke the camels back. Other than that I know no one at all who has even suspected they might have it

Allflightscancelled · 05/08/2020 08:19

And I live in a city in a supposedly badly affected region

torydeathdrug · 05/08/2020 08:19

@IAintentDead re rich family members in big houses sitting in comfortable safety while the rest of the world falls apart ... that’s my situation too.

My lot don’t even watch the news though, they’d never heard about the eat out help out thing for example. SIL didn’t know who David Cameron was & my niece was lecturing dd about the selfishness of ‘working in a pandemic’ last night. Food, electricity, sewerage, policing, transport, water etc all nonessential in ‘a pandemic’ but make sure you clap for the NHS.

We’ve had two meals on Rishi - it was absolutely lovely. Booked two for next week too. One restaurant asked why we were doing it, had to suppress smutty responses but I want people to have jobs & a community, life that isn’t just covid.

Horrified by the suffering in Beirut. We have Lebanese friends, it’s just a disaster. They are in no position to withstand this Sad

NannyPhlegm · 05/08/2020 08:24

Rishi's Dishies are great. We've used it once already, and I'm going to use it as many independents as possible. The big chains don't need it IMO.

The video I've seen on Twitter is just horrific. My heart goes out to the city and its residents.
