To feel like Princess Beatrice has played a blinder!!!

She has managed to make be feel all emotional seeing her in the Queen’s dress and tiara. Didn’t think any Royal bride could top Kate but think Beatrice might have managed it by going ultra low-key.

Is she part of his alibi and will she need to speak to prosecutors or the police in the US?

Beatrice looks wonderful on her wedding day, the dress and tiara were an inspired and brilliant choice. Plus I LOVE the flower arch. Well played!

Personally the amount of money saved on security etc -is a blessing at the moment.

We don't know the cost of the flower, reception etc -but if it is all met by family -no issues.

I might be wrong but I think it was PA pushing for them to have their birth "right" and flash wedding etc not theirs.

How anyone can say she was pregnant from thos pictures -no idea. She's 31. Plenty of time.
I do think that she is doing what she could - no one needs a huge televised wedding especially in this day and age. Far better to have a big party in 12 months time.

What we know about Edo is that he left the mother of his children for Beatrice. He's an old family friend and is a millionaire sourcing and developing properties for rich people.

I really like the dress, the beading is very beautiful. But I'm not sure about the sleeves - how and where they are attached. At first glance I thought the tiara and veil a bit OTT for the dress. It might have looked more modern if it was a bit more understated. But hey why not - its totally blinging.

I'm just wondering how on earth the idea came up of her wearing her grandmother's dress. It seems very symbolic.

@OhTheRoses

Let's not forget that Eugenie and Beatrice are actually Princesses and The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are their grandparents. Kate and Meghan were not Princesses.

Oh lets not forget....ffs they don't actually have blue blood.

I'm also not sure of the hemming on the dress. Is it a bit bunched? There's seems to be a huge wad of hem turn up.

(Apart from the fact that the photo with the Queen and Prince Phillip looks photoshopped with that vertical line running down it).

Beatrice looks so beautiful in this unusual dress. (Does anyone know the designer? Is it Hartnell?)

Yes, it is Hartnell.

Agree it's a gorgeous dress, and very tastefully altered.

Love it.

It looks like a very special family wedding. How IMO weddings should be. I had a small wedding at my family home.

Love the dress and tiara. Shows the love that Granny has for her granddaughter. The Queen herself was married in difficult times. Her cake was made from rations and they made it look bigger by making cardboard tiers to bulk it out.

I bet theQueen was so relieved to have it private. She looked lovely.

Yes think a lot were glad its private, me for one that we didn't have to suffer the whole charade of her sisters parade around Windsor and the security bill.

Prince Andrew and his ex have just never accepted that his children were extremely minor royals and the buffoon (his favourite word for a lot of people) expected they would become fully supported royals with all the trimmings. So seeing that I detest the "York's" I am for one glad and think it was far more appropriate irrespective of the allegations about Andrew

I think she looks beautiful and love the way the Queen and PP are looking at her with big smiles on their faces.
It does look like it has a big hem but I’m wondering if some material was added as Beatrice is a lot taller that the Queen.

I too think she has been very clever. The York girls have had huge (and often justified) criticism for their weird outfits in the past, but who in their right mind would carp at a Covid 19 restricted bride wearing her grannies vintage Hartnell.

Smart move . Beatrice 1 . Snippy commentators 0.

I thought that was a detail of the dress rather than just a hem. The original dress had no sleeves so it’s been modified. Beautiful though.

Not sure why people are indicating this may not have been the “original” dress - the wedding was originally planned for only a couple of months ago so I’m sure this was her choice from the beginning. I’d love to see if Eugenie was a bridesmaid!

She’s probably shown an interest in vintage and had that conversation with granny. Must’ve been exciting looking through the Queen’s collection.

She looks stunning and a very smart move to try and win round the media and the country. Smart PR to have the officially released picture be the Queen and Philip. She's a savvy lady.

She's always had a wacky and more vintage style so the dress is perfect and the alterations have been done beautifully, very sympathetic to the original style.

Loved the dress. I wonder if asa child growing up, they use to dress up in a granny’s gowns, and Beatrice always fancied 5hat one for her wedding.

I always fancied wearing my mums dress, but it didn’t fit.

She looks beautiful. What a great idea to wear one of Granny’s dresses. Love the tiara with it.

Congratualtions to them both, she looks lovely. Those flowers around the door are gorgeous. Reusing and recycling is a good move.

This is very interesting to read. I think the dress is perfectly okay and she looks lovely, as brides do. I also think it's a classy gesture to wear her grandmother's dress, I'm sure it made her grandmother really happy.

But. I don't think the dress is that amazing or even that flattering for her. It's hard to describe, it's not unflattering but it doesn't flatter her particularly either. I'm clearly the only women in the UK who isn't gushing over it so I'm clearly lacking in taste Grin

But again she looks very pretty. Perhaps I need to see more pictures of the dress from different angles, I do think it's probably more lovely in person than in pictures.

I didn’t gush. It wouldn’t be my choice but I think she looks lovely.

Report
Alloverthegrapevine · 19/07/2020 08:14

Granny's old party dress is a Norman Hartnell original from 1962, worn by the Queen, probably not far off £100k Grin

But, yes it all looks lovely, much nicer, I'd imagine, for the couple than the usual royal performance.
