Just checking in. At work so no time to catch up. I had fiegotten whst selfish impatient arseholes some customers can be. We just opened, having to jump through hoops, have to physically provide all cutlery and milk, condiments etc while doing till yet nobody cuts you a bit of slack. Had a minor disaster so we had to bin all the hot food and start again some people nearly got it thrown at them for thier attitude. Cafe really busy but treat the staff like idiots why dont ya?

Hope everyone having a better day. I knew I should have turned down this extra shift🤣🤣🤣😃

Dowser · 17/07/2020 11:36

@Pleasedontdothat
Houghall college, Durham has a very nice equine centre next door to a very nice Indian restaurant

How you get into it I don’t know
Maybe it’s attached to the uni

ButterMeCrumpets · 17/07/2020 11:43

Wine has been poured and I am having a snack lunch pretending the tomatoes and salad is as tasty as in the Mediterranean. It's bliss Wine

Dowser · 17/07/2020 11:43

@BarkandCheese
When I read your post about your son working full time at Maccy ds , saving for a car and learning to drive
I thought I’d written it 😂
Except my grandson is doing the same except he’s in between a levels.

We applied for his driving licence the beginning of June and it still hasn’t turned up
We sent the photo off over a month ago

BarkandCheese · 17/07/2020 11:46

Dowser my nephew not my son, but he’s a great kid and I’d be proud to call him my son.

Dowser · 17/07/2020 11:49

Glastonbury

Anyone live near or visited recently

I’m thinking about going there end of August
It’s a long drive for me ..about 7 hours

Is it as it was or has everything changed

Anyone know anyone who lives there even..I don’t want to go and find it’s not as hippy and dippy as I remember....from last year

MinesaPinot · 17/07/2020 12:06

Checking in.

DrearyWallAntler · 17/07/2020 12:07

Checking in here.

Apprenticeships are great, especially in Stem where there are plenty of options.

MinesaPinot · 17/07/2020 12:12

I should be travelling to Southampton today to go on a short cruise with friends to celebrate significant birthdays.

Instead I've just cleaned the oven, put some washing out and am now sitting in the garden reading the frothing on the CV thread about masks and BJ's announcements this morning.

Yay Me......

DominaShantotto · 17/07/2020 12:12

Oh dear god the frothing over the Boris statement in, shall we use the term, "another place" about how it's all about a conspiracy to get Pret's profits up, it's not safe, sending our kids to doom...

I suppose at least masks might cushion the blow of me banging my head off a brick wall repeatedly.

Drivingdownthe101 · 17/07/2020 12:16

Thought I’d lost you!
Haven’t watched the Boris weekly shit show, anything interesting?
Saw some people moaning about not being able to hug anyone until November? JUST FUCKING HUG WHOEVER YOU WANT TO HUG (as long as they consent, obv Wink).

ImOnTheWrongPlanet · 17/07/2020 12:16

Checking in. Also avoiding all the other 'places' on here.

Drivingdownthe101 · 17/07/2020 12:18

I should be in Spain today (we were due to fly yesterday).
Older DC’s are on a play date, just dropped them off and it looks like they’ve got the whole street round, there were kids everywhere (to be fair the friends they’ve gone to have 4 kids anyway so I imagine it always looks like that Grin). Toddler napping. Trying to decide whether to mow the ken or just sit on my arse winding myself up reading crap on here!

Drivingdownthe101 · 17/07/2020 12:19

The ken? I don’t know a ken. I meant the lawn.

DominaShantotto · 17/07/2020 12:21

Oh yeah and uni guy is still locked down in Leicester where they're apparently being told fuck all and no clue what's going to happen and are all really getting rather fed up watching the rest of England get their hair cut and a beer!

Sadly I've had to block my Leicester based friend from uni as they've fallen prey to the MLMs circling like vultures in the pandemic with people trying desperately to make a bit of cash.

Allflightscancelled · 17/07/2020 12:21

@Dowser I'd chase that driving licence. DD's came through within days, just a couple of weeks ago

MinesaPinot · 17/07/2020 12:22

I've hugged our friends when they've come round, and I hugged my mum when I saw her last week, so ya boo sucks to the D's.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 17/07/2020 12:23

I'm a bit surpised by mass gathering in sports stadiums in Autumn from Boris - though pleased public transport announcements for England.

No idea where we are with public transport in Wales.

ButterMeCrumpets · 17/07/2020 12:25

I used to call the daily briefing the daily doom and gloom show.

It's frustrating as they did the whole fear thing and now they are in the shit as they need people to return to normal.

I really wished they had tackled this in a mature fashion in the beginning, shared facts rather than scaring everyone and gave options to reduce contact rather than blanket closures.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 17/07/2020 12:29

I really wished they had tackled this in a mature fashion in the beginning, shared facts rather than scaring everyone and gave options to reduce contact rather than blanket closures.

I think that would have been better - populations for pretty much any kind of disater do better when given accurate clear information.

I wonder what the nudge people -behavioral scientist- were actually saying and if they thought beyond the immediate threat.

ButterMeCrumpets · 17/07/2020 12:35

I wonder what the nudge people -behavioral scientist- were actually saying and if they thought beyond the immediate threat.

It will be interesting to see in a few years time the analysis on this event.

DominaShantotto · 17/07/2020 12:36

Oh yeah and the "Hancock is trying to fiddle the figures" shouting has started.

wanderings · 17/07/2020 12:38

Was anything said about recreational sport? I couldn't work it out from the BBC website. I want to know when we're allowed to play netball (and proper netball, not some watered down social distanced version of it). I saw "most remaining leisure settings" from 1st August, but that with the usual garbled rubbish, that means nothing. Also, was anything said about singing?

I really wished they had tackled this in a mature fashion in the beginning, shared facts rather than scaring everyone and gave options to reduce contact rather than blanket closures. This, a million times over. It's why I've distrusted and disbelieved everything they've said, because it's so blatantly obvious they're being economical with the truth. It's also why many of us will take any future "pandemics" (delete the letters "dem") much less seriously; indeed, I was hard pressed to take this one seriously at all, since the mythical weapons of mass destruction.

Mascotte · 17/07/2020 12:39

What Boots needs to keep going is to find and sell mask proof makeup. My nose was shiny after just a ten minute supermarket trip yesterday. It's outrageous.

@BakewellTarts

Phew! Thought I'd lost you as the previous thread filled up before anyone could add a link.

Anyway packing for a trip back to my Mums. Very excited to see her and she hasn't seen her grandchildren this year I think she and the girls are even more excited than I am.

We're on our way to see my parents for the first time this year, too :)
