@Jourdain11 invite him over immediately

Ibake · 17/07/2020 10:42

@allflightscancelled Christ no! I don't look at the comments, they make me feel all stabby!

Allflightscancelled · 17/07/2020 10:44

Don't blame you, Ibake. But 'Mark's picture is a doozy. Go, on, take a peek, you know you want to

ButterMeCrumpets · 17/07/2020 10:44

It's always bothered me about the death reporting.

Death certificates should be about what actually caused the death and I know my DMs was a failure in X but the underlying cause was because of the cancer which was acknowledged on the certificate.

I wonder how many said COVID but wasn't actually a contributing factor. If it contributed then that is a valid factor but if it was incidental then surely every death certificate should state everything that a person tested 'positive' for.

Jourdain11 · 17/07/2020 10:47

Thank you ADs. He's coming at 2 Smile

Just don't tell the "shielders should be shut up in isolation for ever" brigade. I'm already an irresponsible for allowing my children back to school in their eyes...

BakewellTarts · 17/07/2020 10:49

Just seen this and makes sense following on from last nights discussion on our previous thread. And makes the point about counting and stats and comparing nations even within the UK. No doubt the Ds will say that it doesn't matter how long it takes to die after you have had Covid as clearly it damaged you so much that you still died from it. Head I win, tails you lose!

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 17/07/2020 10:49

SS Great Britain in 'survival mode' faces £2m loss

I hope they keep going - my older two have climbed the rigging. Does make you wonder how many other tourist/historical/charity places are going to go under.

Ibake · 17/07/2020 10:50

@Jourdain what I keep saying to my friends is that we now have all the data, at quite a local level, to do our own risk assessment. Bollox to the rules, I consider them to be merely guidelines and no more. If you know what your local infection levels are, you do all the hand washing etc then go for it. We need more in our lives than just the people we live with.

I think there is also an element of making the most of it now whilst levels are low just in case we do need to hunker down a bit come the autumn. Hope he comes over, wish I had a gay DH as well as my real DH!

BakewellTarts · 17/07/2020 10:51

Or as someone else said if you were killed by being hit by a bus 3 months after recovering from Covid then it will be counted as dying of Covid.

Worldgonecrazy · 17/07/2020 10:52

I’m not sure why the foibles of the death figures is only just making the news? Anyone who has been following the figures will know this if they read further than the headlines. It’s why German death rates are so low and one of the reasons international comparison is a waste of brain power. It’s also one of the factors behind the belief that this is about population control rather than virus control otherwise it seems ridiculous that our government have actively been seeking reasons to make the death rate as high as possible .

Re being an anti backer, I’m more of an informed vaxxer. DD has a non standard vaccine schedule with slightly better non nhs options for some vaccines. She hasn’t had polio as it’s unlikely she is going to travel to Afghanistan or Pakistan any time soon and there have been no cases in Europe for decades. In addition there should be no surprises that a breastfed child born midwinter would have different vaccine requirements to a bottle fed baby born midsummer but for financial reasons the nhs only has one schedule.

They can’t argue that it makes a difference when comparing international figures if other countries have only been counting clearly attributable deaths though.

Ah, but the Covid-19 had obviously affected your balance and spatial awareness, hence getting hit by the bus!
Ibake · 17/07/2020 10:56

@allflightscancelled I'm sorry, I'm going to have to defend Mark. He's a skier - I don't always look entirely dissimilar myself Jan-April!

Whereas this cunt. Great, thanks, you made me look and now I feel all stabby!! Grin

Could it be that the enhanced numbers enhanced the fear narrative, but now they are trying to lure people out, lower numbers might help?

Not that I'm cynical or anything Wink

didyoueverdancewiththedevil · 17/07/2020 11:02

I have been lurking on these AD threads as a way of maintaining some sanity but I was really pissed off with Patrick Vallance yesterday.

It is not up to him to dictate policy about when and how people can go back to to work. He is not in Government.

Allflightscancelled · 17/07/2020 11:07

But is Mark actually skiing Ibake that's the question! Or is he just too tight to buy a shitty fabric mask for Covid reasons, so he's going to wear what he already owns in Aldi?

Peter - well I don't know what offends me more. His self righteousness or the fact that he thinks we'd care if he was contemptuous and put our picture on social media. I'd be 100% unruffled by that. And I think my contempt might be more than a match for his.

I think this might all have made me stabby too. I take your point about the comments on Twitter though....

ButterMeCrumpets · 17/07/2020 11:12

Just listening to PMs speech. Yes I voted for his party but right now I would like an hour with him to vent on my frustration with his stupid messages.

Pleasedontdothat · 17/07/2020 11:15

@thenightsky snap .. ds2 has been in his own self-imposed lockdown for the last 3 years - he’s not seen anyone outside our immediate family since last November. He has ASD and depression which makes him think everything is pointless. The whole coronavirus crisis has basically confirmed his world view that everything is shit and will never get better.

I too am deeply worried about what will happen to him in the future. We’ve had virtually no help from the NHS (or none that has actually been helpful) and I suspect we will have to withdraw all support before he gets any meaningful help from anyone outside the family.

I really don’t want my dd to have to step up and take responsibility for him as she has her own issues and ds1 is far too self-centred to look after anyone else (also diagnosed with various things - and empathy has never been his strong point)

Ibake · 17/07/2020 11:16

@allflightscancelled in that picture he's on a piste! I can spot a fellow skier from miles off. But yes, wearing a ski buff was my DH's mask strategy until I pointed out all our gear is still in France!

Yes, I too can happily outbrazen people like the delightful Peter but what some of the vile mask threads have shown to me is that apparently not everyone is quite as belligerent as me. I'm getting upset reading that people (some of whom I've grown very fond of on here) now feel like they can't go out because they're worried about arseholes like him.

I want to find the direct link to that video and post it everywhere I see someone being a bullying wanker about masks.

ButterMeCrumpets · 17/07/2020 11:19

I've just turned off the tv to do something more exciting instead Grin(the oldies will recognise the words).

Is it too early to hit the wine? I am on holiday 😁

Allflightscancelled · 17/07/2020 11:25

On holiday (and on lockdown here Blush) any time is wine time.

He's on a piste? Then I defer . Sorry, Mark.

I agree, people are vile and scary about masks, and I am a little apprehensive myself about meeting such a one in real life. And I'm appalled at the prospect that someone more vulnerable will be scared out of going out by them.

I'll be on the south coast all next week, and I do wonder what we'll find. I'm hoping it won't be all-out aggression.

mylittleyumyum · 17/07/2020 11:26

Hello all. I have had two pub lunches in the space of one week, complete with cocktails. Wonderfully normal.

Re masks, I was asked by a staff member to remove mine when purchasing alcohol. So now I am paranoid that the lower half of my face is more haggard than the top.

DominaShantotto · 17/07/2020 11:29

Spoken to uni after they randomly announced they were making mandatory masks in 1m areas on campus - as is usual, they didn't bother telling departments like FUCKING DISABILITY SERVICES this - and left them to deal with the fallout.

It's getting clarified, awareness of exemptions raised, I've suggested they obtain some sunflower lanyards and exemption cards to hold in-house and they're going to make sure campus security are aware.

We need to gently and politely at least round the edges off the lunacy wherever we can. I've got the Cubs to re-phrase and shift their emphasis on distancing being enforced to encouraged in their paperwork and some of the more outlandish school behaviour agreement clauses reduced. Tiny tiny victories.

I want to do something more interesting but I don’t knows what. I can’t walk the dog because the poor thing is getting over a burst anal gland abscess (as nasty as it sounds), I can’t be arsed to go shopping, don’t really need anything and shouldn’t spend money anyway. We’re having take away for dinner so can’t take DD out for lunch. I really want to do something but there’s nothing spontaneous to do. I was catching up with the thread I mentioned earlier, so many people happy not leaving their house for weeks on end. I know I’ve said it before but that’s literally my idea of hell.
Ibake · 17/07/2020 11:33

@buttermecrumpets Why don't you (!) pour yourself a nice chilled something. It's never too early when you're on holiday. Make it a spritzer and that's practically a soft drink. It's hot today, you need to keep your fluids up.
