@DominaShantotto I can imagine the intensity of US crochet world!

DON'T PET THE ALDI CAT!!
(1) it starts with a head-rub & before you know it, you're its slave
(2) It will be riddled with covid!
(3) There's a pandemic on - stopping to be kind to animals is not essential, you should be at home knitting a ventilator!

Shodan · 21/07/2020 21:30

So I saw these on FB www.masksuk.com/product/be-unique-masks/ and my first thought was...

BRAS!!

Seriously. They're half a bra, aren't they? Repurposed and £12.49 each!

I could dig around in my bra drawer and make some similar for nothing Grin

dingit · 21/07/2020 21:31

I'd love an Aldi cat in ours. 😻

ISaySteadyOn · 21/07/2020 21:38

@Shodan, DH told me a terrible joke about that.

It's perfectly feasible to use bra cups as masks but be sure to use the left one only otherwise...you'll look a right tit. Wink

I'm homeless politically in that I"m fairly left wing but I also have a libertarian streak, which is an unusual combination in the UK. Basically I think the state should have a strong safety net but leave everyone the fuck alone otherwise

I don't think your views are particularly unusual on this thread

TheOrchidKiller · 21/07/2020 21:42

Definitely a bra, Shodan. I find the shape of some masks make me think of Y-fronts or similar mens' pants, but not in a good way.

DD has been given some beautiful masks to wear at work, with fabric to match the decor. There's a clean one sitting on the landing with the clean laundry right now, & every time I walk past I think, "Jock-strap".

RubberDinghyRapids · 21/07/2020 21:45

I thought the whole point about masks in shops was to get around the track&trace? So places where you get lots of strangers in one place you either get asked for your details (eg. restaurants, workplaces etc) or you wear a mask. It's the same rationale that our manager gave us for wearing them in the office - that if someone was positive we wouldn't all have to be sent home.

Shodan · 21/07/2020 21:47

@ISaySteadyOn Grin Grin

@TheOrchidKiller Yes! The men I train with wear those- I knew they reminded me of something!

Shodan · 21/07/2020 21:49

Was this www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/493707177885596550/ the inspiration for that delightful blue crocheted ... thing, do you think?

TheOrchidKiller · 21/07/2020 22:03

Pintrest keeps telling me I'm not connected to the internet. I've obviously been wasting my life away on Rightmove doing serious internet research by telepathy all evening, then.

So I can't connect to that link, Shodan. Do I want to see it?

I feel the need to point out that standard surgical masks don't make me think of mens' pants, which is just as well in my NHS workplace, or at the dentist's.

justasking111 · 21/07/2020 22:13

I hope we get to the stage where if necessary we can pick up a testing kit at the supermarket rather like a pregnancy kit, test our spit and a few minutes later know the good or bad news. That might shut up dementors when we can wave the results at them.

I think that would get us back to normal quicker than any vaccine.

I don't see any reason that anyone would not want to use that (although there may be reasons why some couldn't)

@TheOrchidKiller

This one is something else!

(I need to step away from the crochet hooks now)

It's like an Ood from Dr Who Grin
PinkFondantFancy · 21/07/2020 23:04

@TheOrchidKiller I need the pattern for that mask! It will be perfect for winter!

Mrsfrumble · 21/07/2020 23:27

I rather want to post a link on FB to the article HelenaDove shared about how people who are exempt from mask wearing being harassed, with a reminder that posting pithy “amusing” memes about the shortcomings of non-mask wearers encourages this sort of behaviour. But then again I’m tired and I don’t want the drama.

Having followed a horrible thread in AIBU about whether ADHD is a real condition throughout today I’ve fucking well had enough of the wilful ignorance around invisible disabilities.

Shodan · 21/07/2020 23:39

@TheOrchidKiller Yes you definitely need to see it Grin

@DominaShantotto

I think entrance to the local Aldi is now enforced by the Aldi Cat who sits in the middle of the plants at the entrance collecting ear scratches and fusses. He lives in the housing estate next to the store and when it was built it became his daytime attention gathering haunt... to the point he now has his own facebook account!
I love a resident moggie. Durham Cathedral has one, now. A saggy old ginger Tom called Badger. He even has his own twitter account!

I didn't even dare open the adhd thread.

@BogRollBOGOF I'm 32H and no, I'm not a duck, so shan't be trying that one :o

@PickAChew Please don’t! It’s just as grim as you would expect Sad

TheOrchidKiller · 22/07/2020 08:22

Good morning.
@Shodan in a desperate attempt to see the thing you were referring to, (before you posted the picture of the creature) I hand-typed the pinterest link into Chrome. Must've mistyped it the first time because it took me to the website for...
...Wiltshire Farm Foods! Grin
