Have been offline all day - took the kids to a big playground lunchtime which they loved and then we've all been mooching around on the Switch - good times, and so glorious seeing kids playing, who've obviously been allowed outside and have a little bit of a sunkissed look of them - compared to the screenbound pale grey of many around here whose parents still have them confined to the indoors.

IAintentDead · 19/07/2020 20:17

@LivinLaVidaLoki

Browsing nail colours for when I go away was torn between neon pink and a nice yellow....but then I saw this....

Opinions? Least I know you'll all be honest with me 😀

Love them for a holiday - not for every day ... but then I'm old
TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 19/07/2020 20:18

Livin the nails are AMAZING!!

Hmm, good point Helena Sad I really hope it doesn't come to that. I could do 2-3 weeks but not more.

AgentCooper · 19/07/2020 20:29

We went to see DH’s parents today. It was the first time I’d seen them since March as they’re a good bit older than my parents and both have health conditions. I wasn’t sure if I should hug them but bless them, both gave me a big hug and DS hugged them too. He was on brilliant form, which I think really cheered them up. He’s 2.5 and can be an utter wee shite but he was great.

Am feeling angry at the fact that I live in Glasgow due to the constant fucking threat of rain. Because no museums or indoor things are open I always need a massive bag with wellies and waterproofs and to make sure he’s wearing trousers that can tuck into his wellies. He is not getting the hoped for wear out of his absolutely amazing wee flares. Fucking stupid Scotland Angry

MinesaPinot · 19/07/2020 20:31

@LivinLaVidaLoki those nails are glorious!

TheOrchidKiller · 19/07/2020 20:32

This is what people need, interaction with friends and family, keeping everyone apart long term is not healthy for anyone. I get really annoyed with the posts judging people not social distancing, of course we aren't, we are human and need human company.

YES! ^

Just had DM crying on the phone. She can't cope with the anxiety around catching covid anymore, her OCD is back (I knew it was back at the start of lockdown). She knows her thoughts are wonky but they are still coming & messing with her head, convincing her they're (her & DF) going to catch it. She never had the stereotypical handwashing OCD but she does now, on top of the other ritual checking. She knows she's "over the top" (her words). She's said the government and media messages about covid have put the fear of God into people like her.

She's so far away from allowing me to visit. (Big sigh).

She's also livid about covid being recorded as the cause of death even if someone's recovered.

Loki those nails are awesome, like a tequila sunrise. Go for it!

I might join a motivational thread- I hate exercise but the motivational support might just do it.

countrygirl99 · 19/07/2020 20:36

Mummy tequila sunrise. Haven't had one for years, now I want one.

Willow2017 · 19/07/2020 20:41

@PinkFondantFancy

Anyone want to join a bit of a 'lose the lockdown lard/get healthier again' thread or group? I really really need to get an urgent grip of myself, I'm really disappointed how much I've trashed my body since March and it wasn't exactly a temple then to start with :(
Me too. I don't eat at work because i don't like to eat in a hurry so later in pm even after tea I get picky. Have decided to cut down on choc and wine and am rationing the choc. I can really only eat dark choc now so can't eat much of it at once. Have decided to give up on milk as it just doesn't taste right no matter how I try! (Ruined taste buds thanks to tablets) Have tried other sweets but not much success so why bother? So that's my mantra now😄

Wow those nails are amazing! My nails have grown quite long recently for a change but it won't last😄 Annoyed I can't wear varnish at work though😕

I liked the original IT too. Havent seen the new films (Ds2 has though!)

PickAChew · 19/07/2020 20:44

I've just been out in the garden deadhead ing and it's quite chilly. Tequila sunrise nails against my current blue fingers would have me rushed to hospital.

MaudesMum · 19/07/2020 20:52

@PinkFondantFancy Definitely! I've put on a shedload of weight over lockdown, due to being lonely and anxious - so have been self-medicating through wine and chocolate.

I have to say I've had a very normal day, and it was lovely. A family member lives about 40 minutes away, and there was a (socially distanced, well-spread out) market in their town, so I went to see them. As well as the loveliness of seeing people hanging out and shopping and talking and eating, we ran into friends we'd only seen on zoom chats over the last few months, and actually talked to them in real life on the street. Earlier in the week I was invited to a drinks party in a garden, and got talking to someone, and we both agreed (after several glasses of prosecco, that in the end human nature is going to prevail - we can't stay away from each other for too long.

Those nails are fantastic, go for it!

Ok so lockdown lardarse club, we going to do it here or start somewhere separate for that? I'm going to brave the scales tomorrow but mostly I've got a giant belly and back sausage rolls that Gregg's would be proud of that I need to shift. Plan is kick the booze, cake, bread and magnums for starters Confused

@PinkFondantFancy new thread I reckon. 'The ADs' Lockdown Lardarse Club' for the title?

wanderings · 19/07/2020 21:08

Travelling to the events at Speaker's Corner today, I rebelliously wore a visor while travelling today, instead of a fabric muzzle. So I shall await the Dementor's Kiss!

I also saw people wearing a few T-shirts that I liked. For example, one which said:
Fear is the virus
The people's reaction is the pandemic
Common sense is the solution

PinkFondantFancy · 19/07/2020 21:12

How was it @wanderings?

PinkFondantFancy · 19/07/2020 21:21

Ok lardarse arse kicking/gentle encouragement discussions over here here but totally don't want to derail this chat thread, so will keep normal chat on here, and lard arse kicking over there

Good thread!Grin

@allflightscancelled hope you will be reassured that lyme is now fairly busy! Most shops open! Mask wearing minimal! Just make sure you don't need to go into boots as they are really dementory! Plus tesco and Co op are on a shouty traffic light bollocks! Hope you enjoy your stay! Would love to bump into you for a none sd none mask drink on the beach!! Xx

wanderings · 19/07/2020 21:29

@PinkFondantFancy I heard a lot of things which I've been thinking for months being said to the listeners; such as fiddled figures, "once a covid, always a covid", lots of lies have been told, even though BoJo has said "by Christmas", they may well invent some reason to delay normality; we're being brainwashed into accepting the new normal. Lots of "it's a strain of the flu". To be honest, though, some of the speakers weren't much better than Boris himself, there was a lot of waffle and repetition. There were conspiracy theories abound, such as the government is in league with Bill Gates over health passports; I'm keeping an open mind about a lot of what I heard. It was all a bit thrown together (I think they wanted to get it in before mask day), and there were a few comedy moments: a statistician mumbled boringly about figures, and nobody could hear him. Someone passed him a megaphone, and then the police intervened (and the copper was actually a far better speaker than some of the official speakers; I wonder if he was a stooge?), saying that "amplification" was not allowed at Speaker's Corner. So the event moved to just outside the park, and speakers started competing with each other. There was also a BLM gathering on the Marble Arch roundabout. I didn't stay until the end, so I don't know if anything juicy happened after about 3pm.

Wishfulthinking1977 · 19/07/2020 21:31

@helenadove I have seen you on some really dementory threads being very positive and polite! Can I just ask how you hold your tongue?! Your so balanced and rational! They seem to hate that!! 😂😂 Xx

RubberDinghyRapids · 19/07/2020 21:40

Checking in from my pit. DD has been a terrible sleeper the last few nights and I'm a broken woman.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 19/07/2020 21:54

I am still buzzing from our cheeky flockery to the beach.

People were swimming, ice-creams (with flake! 😁) were just £1.80 on the prom which was a total bargain.

People were beaming from ear to ear and talking to strangers such is the desire for normal.

Lots of signs denying entry to dogs. More dogs than kids on beach. 😉

Just a few refusing to walk on the prom because you couldn’t pass at 2m.

Then on to a play park with dozens of squealing kids and a dad spinning the roundabout at 70mph.

Fab!

Sounds good.

I put my wetsuit on to have a splash... First time since March... Wet suits do not lie... At least it zipped up, but it was definitely snug!

The DCs were so happy to have their togs on and were trying valiently to swim in a foot of sea water in a little pool Grin Bless them, they've been swimming most weeks since babyhood, they've never been months without before.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 19/07/2020 21:56

Btw, there’s no need to run 50km. Petrol is very Cheap right now and there are various bike recycling schemes should you prefer.
