Doesn’t he know there is no good news allowed?[/quote]
From last few months observations knowledge and Mr Gething do not come across as natural bedfellows.

I'm not really going to refuse to wear a mask in places where I actually have to, because I can, there's no health reason why I shouldn't, I just don't want to and it's pointless. So I will, for shops, but I won't be doing any 'just browsing' type of shopping because I object in principle to the whole ridiculous business.

Also, because I'm petty, I won't wear one until the day it's mandated. I haven't yet worn one even for a second during the whole of this pandemic, and when I am finally forced into one, I'll take grim satisfaction from knowing it looks as fucking stupid as it really is (my mask is bright turquoise, with gurning emojis printed on it.

thenightsky · 15/07/2020 15:47

I just had to C&P a bit of a comment from one of my FB contacts who is full-on dementor. I knew you lot would laugh...

The English are bored of it , they think 4,000 excess deaths a month are acceptable enough to whinge about wearing a mask , pity they haven't looked at 1918-19 America things were so dire you got shot dead for not wearing a mask during the second peak

Grin
Allflightscancelled · 15/07/2020 15:49

I'd really like a mask that's sort of 3D and looks like Donald Duck's beak

Allflightscancelled · 15/07/2020 15:50

And the point of that ridiculous comment, @thenightsky? Did they tell you why that was in any way relevant?

countrygirl99 · 15/07/2020 15:54

Allflightscancelled put me down for a duck beak mask

Allflightscancelled · 15/07/2020 15:57

Oh countrygirl if only I had the skills......

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 15/07/2020 15:58

Well I for one am totally bored of it. Plus I saw somewhere on sky news (can't find it now, typically) that the deaths for my region this month are 2% below the average for this month. So, no excess deaths round here.

Cattermole · 15/07/2020 15:59

My DH (bearded and hairy so looks like he's wearing a Chewbacca mask at best) also refuses to wear one, so has taken to walking round with a rather elegant blue French silk scarf in his pocket.
He modelled it for me the other day. He looks like a bloody terrorist.

I think I may get one of those belly-dancing veils with the coins on, and start wearing quantities of eyeliner and patchouli oil.

Allflightscancelled · 15/07/2020 16:03

And big earrings. You'll need big earrings but you'll have to order them online obviously

thenightsky · 15/07/2020 16:04

Allflightscancelled It appears to have been in response to someone posting how well Scotland is doing as they've had no deaths for a whole week thanks to Nicola Sturgeon's policies.

torydeathdrug · 15/07/2020 16:04

this is what we have to look forward to - obnoxious men feeling free to abuse women & children in public (no bloody way would he have tried this on a couple of men) www.telegraph.co.uk/art/what-to-see/mask-rage-ruined-trip-national-gallery/

I looked those up, but Amazon were estimating at least a month for delivery for the £5 ones.
torydeathdrug · 15/07/2020 16:09

should rephrase that - "feeling free(er) or maybe enjoying having a socially acceptable reason to abuse women & children"

justasking111 · 15/07/2020 16:15

Fishing hats for ladies could be the way forward. Glam, room for big earrings.

@justasking111 I totally want one of those hats! Got to be way better than a mask. If you've got to look like a tosser anyway, may as well go the whole hog.

PinkFondantFancy · 15/07/2020 16:23

Very tempted by this: www.redbubble.com/i/mask/Offred-The-Handmaid-s-Tale-by-yowisy/32174480.9G0D8

PinkFondantFancy · 15/07/2020 16:24

Gah the hunting hat's already sold out! Gutted!

torydeathdrug · 15/07/2020 16:28

@Worldgonecrazy that one I like! :D

I'm going for 'proper' mask if in a situation when I would choose to use one for my benefit, scarf hijab style pulled up if I'm being forced to do it. Lots of women around here seem to use that option.

Survived the hospital - funny triage. They made me wait in the car park & call to say I was there. Then they sent a nurse out & I had to take my mask off so she could check my temp with a oral thermometer while I filled out a covid symptom checklist with her grubby pen. Then mask back on. I did lots of hand gelling - she didn't, including after I handed back the grubby pen, then she opened lots of doors & the cupboards in the treatment room. But she was in gloves & a mask so magically immune from contaminating anything Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 15/07/2020 16:34

Just been in town and about a third wearing masks, most of them are wearing those disposable pale blue medical masks. Some shops have them there for you to pick up (e.g. White stuff).

I picked up a pack in Gap which don't seem too bad. Not great though. Hardly any toilets open still. Have to pop into a cafe if you need them

Orangeblossom78 · 15/07/2020 16:35

Also got a couple of thin scarves for £5 for two from Claire's and they seem not too bad wrapped around, it is the feeling I find more tricky than the look.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/07/2020 16:36

At the pub last night, the barman was doing the Covid spiel... sneezed into his hands then squirted the hand gel...

Fotunately there were two bottle and we went for the other one Grin

justasking111 · 15/07/2020 16:56

Seeing them on more men than women in supermarkets, masks, buffs. they are barging past now though, which grinds my gears somewhat. The non mask wearers like me this morning at the co-op were sticking to social distancing and waiting behind me, I had to wave them past because I had forgotten something further back, still one way in our shop
