Songs that make you sob

Sorry, I know this topic has been done before but...
Recently watched The Falling, and Florence Pugh sings Voyage To The Moon- it's only a brief moment, but I had never heard the song before and I cannot stop thinking about it. I've listened to Donovan and the Mary Hopkin version and I'm sobbing! Absolutely bawling my eyes out! It is such a sad sweet melancholy song. It's making me think of the DCs as babies and how little DD (4) is growing so big now...

Are there any songs that have given you the same reaction? I can't stop listening and crying!

Disclaimer- this may be a result of lockdown hysteriaGrin

Barbara Streisand "The way we were"....the first few notes my chest tightens and I'm gone.

This is the only song that does this for me.

Me too

@thesunwillout Ghosteen is incredible. It’s beautiful but every bit as heartbreaking as you’d expect and it’s very much about the loss of a child. I’m still in painful awe every time I listen to it.

I saw him on his “In Conversation with Nick Cave” tour last year, just him and his piano and the crowd asking questions, it was amazing. Some idiot man asked him if he’d seen the unintended benefits to his creativity in the fact he’d lost his son and I think a lot of people were just aghast at the question, Nick shut him down immediately.

Going to see him again on his arena tour next year.

Can I add 'Playboy Mommy' by Tori Amos

And recently 'Time To Say Goodbye' - it was played at a friend's funeral a couple of weeks ago over a montage of her photos. Destroys me just thinking about it.

The Drugs Don't Work, by The Verve. It played on the radio after we were told that my mums cancer treatment wasn't working. Always reminds me of those dark times.

Ne me quitte pas. The Dusty Springfield version in 'Toast' where a young Nigel Slater dances with his dying mother. Gets me every time.

@Inmyownlittlecorner

Somewhere by Runrig & Julie Fowlis. My Mum died unexpectedly 2 days after her Birthday 18 months ago & it came on on in the car while we were on the way to say goodbye to her. It’s a beautiful song & very emotive.

One Day more from Les Mis always has me in tears & White Wine in The Sun by Tim Minchin. Have it All by Jason Mraz has made me emotional recently because I’ve got a DD going to Secondary School & it really sums up all of the things I want her to know.

@Inmyownlittlecorner are you me?! I adore Julie Fowlis, howl at One Day More and recently made a video of photos of DD for her 13th birthday with Mraz as the backing track. I can't watch it without crying. We always sob together at White Wine in the Sun too! I can't hear the line about passing round an infant daughter without crying.
Abraid2 · 28/08/2020 21:05

I had to stop listening to that for about a year when my younger child, my daughter went off to university!
