@MonsteraDeliciosa

Splott beach!
Please don't tell too many people about it. My secret at the moment :)

It's not as bad as this blog makes out: dicmortimer.com/2011/09/01/all-wales-coast-path/

Penmaenmawr. It has toilets, cafe play ground and paddling pool. We get jelly fish, and octupus'. Loads of rock pools for the kids and its huge. But mainly I like it cause it's a 10 min walk away.

Newgale.

Enormous. Almost impossible to find a crowd there, even in midsummer, especially if you are prepared to walk for a couple of minutes from the car park. Great body boarding.

I love all of that string of beaches - Nolton Haven, Broad Haven, Little Haven - but Newgale is 'our' beach.

Don’t fancy splott much ! 🤣

Broadhaven South is my favourite. Much bigger than Barafundle so never gets as crowded. and you have the bonus of a much easier walk, a loo at the top and an ice cream van!

I also love Manorbier. My dad used to call that his perfect beach. It's more interesting for young children than Broadhaven because there are rock pools and a stream to dam. And of course you have the castle too.

Best for an evening walk and sunsets is Freshwater West, but don't try and swim there.

You might do if you're only allowed to travel under 5 miles! Seriously, we're allowed to travel now, but public transport not recommended so Splott is still my only accessible 'beach'.

Caswell Bay or Langland Bay. Spent the afternoon on Langland yesterday and it was fab. Heading back down this afternoon.

Arriving at Newbough beach in Anglesey makes me feel like I've travelled through a space/time portal, so beautiful.

borntobequiet · 12/07/2020 10:21

West Dale, best at the end of the walk round from Dale via St Anne’s Head IMO, though there’s a shorter half mile walk to it straight from the village.

Can anyone help me? Several years ago we were staying near Harlech and went out for the day. We drove to the coast, round the Lleyn Peninsula I think, had lunch in a golf club beside the sea and went for a walk from a car park near there. Walked down a steep incline to a beautiful beach which had a white pub right at the water's edge (there may have been a couple of cottages) as well). It was November so pub was shut but I always thought I'd love to,return sometime in summer. A long shot but anyone know where I'm talking about?

110APiccadilly · 12/07/2020 12:46

@Blueberrycreampie It wasn't Porthdinllaen, was it?

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 12/07/2020 12:50

Must be Porthdinllean?
Morfa Nefyn

thisstooshallpass · 12/07/2020 12:56

If not already suggested - Barafundle Bay, Pembrokeshire.

SallyCinnamon3009 · 12/07/2020 13:02

Harlech

Blueberrycreampie · 12/07/2020 15:43

Thank you both, yes I think it was that one! I'd love to go back there. Didn't know it was NT!

Blueberrycreampie · 12/07/2020 15:46

Also, on reading the blurb I recognise the Ty Koch as MIL who's Welsh mentioned it a lot at the time!Smile

JaJaDingDong · 12/07/2020 15:46

@PercyKirke

Moont should be close enough.

JaJaDingDong · 12/07/2020 15:48

Not munt as previous poster has said.

It's a kind of cross between moont and mun really

spiderlight · 12/07/2020 16:13

Rhosilli, Cefn Sidan, Three Cliffs or Barafundle Bay.

okiedokieme · 12/07/2020 16:26

There's a lovely one near st David's, can't remember name but it's about 10 mins drive west

okiedokieme · 12/07/2020 16:27

But st David's isn't cheap, can recommend Celtic camping though

drigon · 13/07/2020 15:08

@okiedokieme, that's Whitesands, which is gorgeous.

verybritishproblems · 13/07/2020 15:14

Grew up in South Wales, my faves are Llangennith, Oxwich, Barafundle and Whitesands Smile
