Oxwich Bay or Rhossili, rest bay great too.

Scion286 · 09/07/2020 20:55

SpeedofaSloth thanks for the info-it’s a huge beach, we walked for about an hour along the lily ponds and it spat us out there, never knew what beach we were actually on!

Thneedville · 09/07/2020 21:00

Poppit Sands
Newport Sands (not the big Newport, one in Pembs or Ceredigion) because you can drive onto the beach and I find that stupidly exciting!

sakura06 · 09/07/2020 21:05

Newborough is beautiful but not much in the way of facilities. More at Rhosneigr and Benllech.

In the south, Cefn Sidan at Pembrey Country Park is great but the sea can be a long way out. Tenby is wonderful as are all the Gower beaches.

SpeedofaSloth · 09/07/2020 21:06

@Scion286 my kids love to dam that bit Smile. DH too Grin

Chimchar · 09/07/2020 21:12

Barafundle. It's just stunning.
To be fair, anywhere around west wales you won't go far wrong!

HPLikecraft · 09/07/2020 21:16

@Scion286

Actually, I can’t believe I’m saying this but cancel that suggestion of Barafundle. We did the most beautiful walk along Bosherton Lily ponds-you follow the ponds and eventually come out onto an amazing beach, really lovely.
Ah, that's a lovely walk, isn't it?

Also love Barafundle, Manorbier, Oxwich, Rhossilli and Whiteford sands (you can't swim there and it's huge and empty. Bliss)

HPLikecraft · 09/07/2020 21:17

Oh and some beaches I visited near St Davids. Nog sure what they were called!

MeanMrMustardSeed · 09/07/2020 21:17

I’m also voting for Mwnt. Absolutely perfect!

Lolimax · 09/07/2020 21:18

Poppit and Newport sands. But llangranog a very close contender!

BikeRunSki · 09/07/2020 21:18

Newborough
Three Cliffs
Rhossili

Zisforstripyoss · 09/07/2020 22:33

I'm not a beach fan in general, but I loved Harlech.

Honeyroar · 09/07/2020 22:41

Most on The Gower are lovely, especially Three Cliffs and Rhosilli (aw I should’ve been doing a 26 mile sponsored walk there this weekend). But there are a thousand other beaches all the way up Wales that look nice. I like the look of the Barmouth area south of Snowdonia.

sherlocked79 · 09/07/2020 22:55

Aberavon beach is gorgeous!

What do you think the nicest sandy beach is in Wales ?
MWestie · 09/07/2020 23:16

Marloes is beautiful but I wouldn't swim there and it's easy to get caught out by the fast incoming tide.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 09/07/2020 23:19

The Gower, but I also love Aberavon. Just, face west if you don't like to see industry. But it's a huge, flat, sandy beach with plenty to do. And a Best Western, I believe, if it survived Covid.

Lardlizard · 09/07/2020 23:30

Oh thanks for the heads up about not swimming there, that is one of my fears about going to a new beach we don’t really know

Broadhaven south every time.

Noti23 · 09/07/2020 23:36

@PercyKirke

Sorry, it’s definitely not pronounced ‘munt’. Think ‘munt’ but with more of an ‘oo’ sound in the middle, like if you were to say ‘moo’ (as in the cow moos). 😂 Say Mooont and you’ll probably get somewhere close.

Sorry, I’m a fluent Welsh speaker and the whole Mwnt pronunciation grinds my gears 😂

SilkandSandwiches · 09/07/2020 23:37

Lligwy

mrssmiling · 09/07/2020 23:56

Porth Ceiriad - love Abersoch, but this beach is a hidden gem.

drigon · 10/07/2020 00:44

Whitesands near St. David's, Caswell in Gower, Port Eynon in Gower.

Nowifi · 10/07/2020 00:52

Harlech was beautiful!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 10/07/2020 00:54

Abersoch, but the main beach, not the Warren. Or Nefyn (at least, we were staying at Nefyn when we went there, the bit with the coloured buildings and the Ty Coch Inn).

There are lots of lovely beaches around Wales, but my heart belongs to the Llyn peninsula!

BogRollBOGOF · 10/07/2020 01:26

Fairbourne
Barmouth
Harlech
