Amber Heard & Johnny Depp....Your thoughts?

Whatdoyouthinkaboutthisone · 08/07/2020 18:53

I have seen this in the news over the past couple of days and wasn't really sure what to think. It sounds to me like a very volatile relationship and it may be that they are both abusers. Or at the least they are completely incompatible with each other.

Today I noticed that Amber Heard was walking into court and she had a scarf around her face. Then she removed the scarf and smiled for everyone and waved and seemed to enjoy the cameras being there. It's just an observation but maybe the accusations of her being a narcissist could be accurate? Or is she maybe trying to put a brave face on it all under what must be a very stressful situation for all concerned?

Johnny Depp kept his mask on but was also waving for the cameras I should add.

Anyway, I'm well aware it's none of my business really, it was just something I had thought about after seeing the news today and wondered what others thought!

@narrowboatgirl

There’s a video of her on one of the talk shows, recorded during her marriage, where she clearly has a bruised and swollen face and split lip which she’s hiding behind pounds of thick makeup. This was back when they were still claiming to be the perfect couple, long before she made any abuse allegations, so you can’t accuse her of staging it to frame him.

There’s another series of pap pics of them leaving a private jet and her face is bashed all to hell. Someone on that plane gave her a good biffing. Again this was long before she accused him of anything.

There are so, so many photos and videos of her during the “perfect” stage of their marriage, showing her with bruises, black eyes, etc.

At uni I used to share a house with a man who would slap and punch himself. It was really violent. Bruises alone don’t prove guilt.
JKRisagryff · 08/07/2020 23:48

The way she talks to him in those tapes actually really reminds me of how my ex would make fun of me for reacting badly to having things thrown at me. He would put on stupid voices like that too. He also didn’t react well to me trying to walk away from an argument that was escalating as I wasn’t ‘putting our relationship first’.

bilbotoy · 08/07/2020 23:50

.. I think it's because Kate moss never talks about anything in her private life. She knew that she would be grilled about drug taking etc in her relationship with JD and she would never want to confirm or deny any of the stories and rumours about her personal life.

Good point, she escaped her drug scandal pretty much unscathed.

thanks @ArriettyJones for the Paul background.

And buying her a beaver and setting up a website called JD shaves AH beaver and making lots of money from it

😆

Helena Bonham Carter mentioned him briefly in her recent podcast interview with Louis Theroux. She said something like, what people don't realise about Johnny is that he is very shy.

That totally makes sense when you see those terrible chat show appearances - he's hating every second of it as underneath he is very shy and private.

I don't think he is a publicity seeker at all (as a PP claimed) - on the contrary, the fact that someone as reclusive as him is prepared to have his dirty laundry aired in public in order to clear his name of being a 'wife beater' suggests to me that although he's a very messed up addict and far from perfect, he was not the abusive one in that relationship.

Re his previous anger issues and violent outbursts, they seem to have been at people like paparazzi, which again fits with him hating having his privacy violated.

I didn't know about him having been abused as a child. What's the source for that?

rayoflightboy · 08/07/2020 23:53

@narrowboatgirl you are determined for him to be a wife beater. When its documented on the tapes its her.

Theres a make up artist that made her face up after she was on the Talk Show and says Amber had no bruises.

narrowboatgirl · 08/07/2020 23:58

And some posters are determined to paint a man who’s had a reputation as an unstable violent abuser for over 30 years, who has a known history of violence, whose own interview comments are terrifying, as being an innocent “gentle soul.” The attempts to smear and downplay what happened to the disabled professor were particularly nasty.

I’m sure Amber Heard has been on hundreds of talk shows during her career. The MUA for the talk show I am referring to has not commented.

ArriettyJones · 09/07/2020 00:01

I hat is the story with the “disabled professor”? Does anybody have a link?

Oh and how “shy and private” was he being when he set his own costume on fire in the middle of the 21 Jump Street set because he was angry about something?

Most of the people he’s been violent against have not been paparazzi but people like hotel security (tried to break up a wild party Depp was having; Depp was angry his fun was being interrupted - no sign of shyness there!); a disabled woman in a VIP area (no proof that she was doing anything other than minding her own business, and he got angry at a middle aged non-famous women in a celeb area); and a crew member (just doing his job).

Windyjuly · 09/07/2020 00:05

JK I agree.

If I had not listened to the tapes I wouldn't believe a word. But they really are astonishing.

His tone is consillatory, she just doesn't love him. He said Australia was good because she wasn't always attacking him.

At one point he went to a bathroom to try and get away, she battered her way in he pushed the door and hurt her foot, he tried to look and she banged the door at his head then punched him. Another time he says she chucked him out and he was in bed.

What does seem to come across is misunderstanding between both about what critism is. He sounds incredibly, insecure.

Thanks @narrowboatgirl

JKRisagryff · 09/07/2020 00:08

I’m not saying he’s an innocent gentle soul. I believed her from the get go until I saw and heard the evidence. I’ve said all along the man has issues clearly with substance abuse which can cause generally passive people to become very volatile. This was my own experience in an abusive relationship. But I trust my own knowledge and experience of people when I listen to those tapes.

Listening to the way she talks to him, deflects and manipulates the conversation, I don’t think there’s any way she would knowingly record 45 min to an hour long conversations all about the physical violence in their relationship without mentioning the particular disturbing incidents that she alleged to have happened.

She would have the upper hand instantly if she could reply to him saying ‘you shouldn’t punch me’ with ‘well you shouldn’t chop your own finger off and write profanities about me with your bloodied stump’.

“ Johnny Depp ordered his bodyguards to remove a handicapped woman from a concert at the Hollywood Palladium, then “ignored her pleas and did nothing to stop the attack” after they took her iPhone, pulled her pants down and handcuffed her, the woman claims in Superior Court.
Jane Doe claims she was attacked in the VIP room of the Hollywood Palladium Theater on Dec. 1, 2011, where she was attending an Iggy Pop and the Stooges concert with her husband – as a gift for his birthday.
She claims the assault by Depp’s security detail left her “severely injured” and in a hospital emergency room.
Doe says she filed anonymously because of the media attention and publicity already attached to the alleged attack. She says she is a medical doctor and University of California Irvine professor, on disability leave, and needs a cane to walk long distances.
Doe says she had her first run-in with Depp’s security detail when she returned to the VIP area between sets, and found Depp’s bodyguards blocking her path. She claims Depp’s guards told her to use another entrance on the opposite side of the theater but “reluctantly allowed her to pass” after she explained she was disabled.
“During the start of the concert, Jane Doe and her friends noticed Depp and his security detail huddled and speaking to one another and with their attention directed to Jane Doe and her party,” the complaint states.
“During the huddle between Depp and his security guards, Depp, in his capacity as the security guards’ direct supervisor, directed their course of conduct with respect to plaintiff.
“Without provocation or prior notice, one of Depp’s security guards (‘security guard No. 1’), suddenly grabbed plaintiff Jane Doe from behind, bear-hugged her, and tightly grabbed and restrained both of her wrists.”
Doe says another guard tried to take her iPhone, which contained her patients’ confidential information. She says the guards dragged her to an upper balcony, “dropped her to the ground” and “forcefully pried” her iPhone from her, “one finger at a time.”
She claims: “Defendant Depp witnessed all of the foregoing actions by his security guards, did nothing to stop the foregoing actions despite the fact that said security guards were under his direct control, and, in fact, specifically directed the security guards’ actions.”
After returning to her seat and her husband, Doe says, the two bodyguards approached her again and told her they were off-duty police officers. She says one of them grabbed her tightly by the wrist and forcibly handcuffed her.
She claims that in all, three security guards “repeatedly yanked the handcuff chain upwards towards the ceiling; causing severe injuries and trauma to Doe’s wrists, arms, and body.”
“While being dragged on the floor by the handcuffs, plaintiff’s pants were removed from her torso and hips, exposing her buttocks to the other Hollywood Palladium Theater patrons,” the complaint states.
She claims Depp “did nothing to halt their actions,” even after she “motioned to and pleaded with defendant Depp to call off his security guards.”
“Defendant Depp ignored plaintiff’s pleas and did nothing to stop the attack on Jane Doe,” the complaint states.
The security guards, with the aid of theater employees, dragged her up a set of stairs in full view of onlookers, and forced her out of the theater, Doe says.
“Jane Doe was severely injured as a result of the assaults by defendants and immediately sought medical care by going to a hospital emergency room,” the complaint states.

Uhtredwaere · 09/07/2020 00:11

Playing devils advocate does it have to be frightening though? Wasn't this a thing in the 90s for rockers/celebs to trash hotel rooms/break TVs?

@bilbotoy

As a woman who was in a relationship with a man who used to frequently behave this way I can tell you that it is absolutely terrifying because you spend every second petrified that after he has finished smashing lamps/mirrors/walls he will come for you next.

Icanflyhigh · 09/07/2020 00:11

I believe him. Always have, always will.

Windyjuly · 09/07/2020 00:14

JK I agree again and it's what I thought listening to the tapes. She also took coke with him and drank with him..

He's no Saint I imagine he's hard too come up agaisnt esp on the drinking and his behaviour.

FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue · 09/07/2020 00:17

narrowboatgirl Why are you ignoring what's in the tapes?

At one point he went to a bathroom to try and get away, she battered her way in he pushed the door and hurt her foot, he tried to look and she banged the door at his head then punched him.

lemondrizzlehedgehog · 09/07/2020 00:20

@ArriettyJones

narrow did you listen to the tapes? I was just listening to them again, there’s no mention whatsoever of him being violent towards her or even of him smashing or throwing stuff. The only thing that’s talked about is that he’s pushed her when she’s been getting violent with him. I know people will say well maybe it just wasn’t mentioned but there’s plenty of places they’re talking about each of their behaviour in comparison to the other

Video of him smashing up his kitchen was played in court today.

He also testified that he smashed an Art Deco lamp fitting in a trailer on a campsite trip and smashed up a hotel room twenty years ago while Kate Moss slept next door.

he smashed an art deco lamp fitting

This here, is the real sadness. Smashing art deco lamps. I am feeling empathy and sympathy for someone involved in this case for the first time on reading this. Absolutely criminal scum thing to do.

lemondrizzlehedgehog · 09/07/2020 00:21

Sorry, that should read " feeling empathy/sympathy for something not someone!"

narrowboatgirl · 09/07/2020 00:23

FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue I’m not ignoring anything.

Why are the Depp defenders ignoring the 30 years of evidence of him being a habitual violent abuser?

ButteryPuffin · 09/07/2020 00:28

I've been confused as in recent months I've seen lots of social media posts giving their relationship as an example of one where the woman claimed she'd been abused but then it was revealed that she was actually the abuser. This has been stated as fact. None of the current reporting I've read on this has referred to that at all. When did that 'it was all her really' story emerge and with what evidence?

rayoflightboy · 09/07/2020 00:35

@narrowboatgirl you keep going on about abuse.
Shutting in someone's bed Abuse
Cutting off a part of a finger. Abuse
Breaking an Art Deco lamp. not Abuse

It's not about what happened 20 or 30 years ago, when she wasn't on the scene.
It's what happened a few years ago and she was the abuser.

That's been proven because Amber captured it all .

narrowboatgirl · 09/07/2020 00:37

I’ve never claimed she didn’t abuse him too, but like I said my personal opinion based on the evidence is that he beat the shit out of her and emotionally abused her too, and that he is a habitual abuser.

I’m entitled to my own opinion.

narrowboatgirl · 09/07/2020 00:38

And smashing up and setting fire to someone’s possessions is considered a form of DV per any DV charity.
