Does anyone hate their Birthday date?

I always liked my birthday as a kid (earlyJune) even with exams. I liked that it was nicer weather, perfect distance from Christmas and actually being a bit younger made me feel less pressure to have done things by a certain age. As an adult though, unless I'm abroad I find June a bit of a disappointing month, especially as the weather tends to go through a rubbish point after May. I'm now a real autumn lover, especially as you know what you're getting! I also look back and think how much harder I found school in primary. I caught up and had great teaching but I know a lot of summer babies dont. It also affected my self esteem in certain subjects.

I think about it more having dc. My baby was born in November and I really like the fact he will be older in the school year, although hope he doesnt find his Birthday too rubbish being near christmas! Hoping to always try and make it special.

I like mine it’s in July, I always liked how it’s in summer and about halfway through the year,

BabyLlamaZen · 08/07/2020 20:15

Oooh I would LOVE my birthday to be halloween.

My DS is a St Patricks Day baby. I get a lot of "oooh wait till he's 18 onwards, it'll be great!!"

We're not Irish btw

Late July. I didn't like it as a child, as I never got to stand in assembly for the happy birthday song.

However, now I'm an adult and work in education, I love breaking up for the summer and knowing my birthday is in the first few days. I get a real happy holiday feeling.

Linnet · 08/07/2020 20:41

My birthday is early January, it’s a rubbish birthday. I get Christmas, New Year then my birthday. Nobody has any money left, nobody wants to go out, the weather is usually rubbish.

If I could choose my birthday it would in either May,
July, September or Hallowe’en.

Ginger1982 · 08/07/2020 20:44

I'm December. It's rubbish as so close to Christmas, everyone has nights out so no one is ever free to do anything and everywhere hikes their prices right up!

Lochnessgiraffe · 08/07/2020 20:47

Yes it's Valentines day. It's a terrible day for a birthday

Mine is 4 April. 4th of the 4th. I have no problem with it. Occasionally it's Easter.

TroysMammy · 08/07/2020 21:15

Middle of January. It's grim. One year for Christmas I had a bike, for my birthday 3 weeks later I had a saddle bag for it. On a plus side it's the only present I remember getting for my birthday, obviously the presents from other birthdays weren't as memorable.

Immigrantsong · 08/07/2020 21:17

I get mixed feelings ranging from dread to complete elation. It depends on what has happened and my mindframe at the time.

Delatron · 08/07/2020 21:22

Mid May birthday. I love it. Weather normally improving. The hope of spring!

Though I do remember revising for my finals
on my 21st so that wasn’t a good year..

jackdaw141 · 08/07/2020 21:24

I was created in a laboratory. No specific 'birth' as such so they assigned to me the date stamped on the bottom of the cardboard container that contained the test tubes. I just got used to it over time.

waitingfor40 · 08/07/2020 21:32

Mine Christmas Day it's absolutely crap!! No party's ever because it's too close to Xmas and everyone's going on Xmas dos, Xmas meals ect..
no birthday night out nothing open, everyone always forgets because it's Xmas day and their to busy celebrating that to remember your birthday.
Joint Xmas/birthday presents and I shit you not cards! There is a Xmas card come birthday card rolled into one! 🤬
When people ask me when my birthday is I now say oh I don't have one! And in a way I'm not lying.

SpringIsSprung1 · 08/07/2020 21:36

9/11 here

TroysMammy · 08/07/2020 21:41

The day before my 30th and I reckon my drink was spiked I spent my birthday as rough as a bag of spanners throwing up and being a sorry mess at the restaurant I went to with friends.

For my 30th trip to the Eden Project, 40th Zoo Keeper Experience & 50th weekend to Chester Zoo which were birthday presents from my parents I had to wait months for because the weather in January is rubbish.

FizzFan · 08/07/2020 21:44

Though I do remember revising for my finals
on my 21st so that wasn’t a good year..

My last degree exam was on my 21st! It was a crap morning but a good day in the pub with my boyfriend after!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 08/07/2020 21:46

Mine's mid November and I've always loved it, despite being only 6 weeks to Christmas. Halloween, bonfires, autumn walks, roaring fires - it's my favourite season and feels magical.

My youngest child's birthday is 27 August -- we had hoped for a September baby but she came 3 weeks early due to complications. She's only 10 months now but I felt initially (irrationally!) quite sad that she'll be one of the youngest and have her birthday in the school holidays (will anyone come to her parties?!). But as an adult I think it's a pretty decent birthday date - more often than not over or very near a bank holiday, hopefully decent weather, holidays away etc.

zoemum2006 · 08/07/2020 21:49

Mid January. HATE it.

Everyone's poor, teetotal, burnt out.

Everything is closed.

I used to think that people use didn't like me much but then I realised it's a crap time of year.

ALongHardWinter · 08/07/2020 21:50

On the contrary,I really like my birthday date, which is early October. I was always amongst the oldest in my school year, which although I didn't actually realise it at the time,is an advantage. Plus I really don't like summer. Or not so much summer, but hot weather. By October it has cooled down nicely, but not TOO much, and I know that it is highly unlikely to suddenly turn hot again. And it's not too near Christmas.

narrowboatgirl · 08/07/2020 21:55

Mine is Christmas Day too! It’s crap.

My dad’s was Halloween. I don’t think it affected him because Halloween wasn’t much of a thing in his lifetime.

greytminds · 08/07/2020 21:56

I’d love an April/May birthday - love spring time and there are bank holidays aplenty. My birthday is late July which is fine but has always been during school holidays / peak holiday period. Also I have had many birthdays with torrential rain, hailstones, and thunder storms as well as sunny ones. It’s a really funny time weather-wise!

Waitingtomove · 08/07/2020 22:02

2nd January here, agree with all of the above, no one wants to celebrate, no one has any money to do anything, everyone on post Xmas diets / detox and Christmas / birthday presents rolled in to one or shite from January sales.

MondeoFan · 08/07/2020 22:08

I'm happy with my birthday it's on Midsummers Day and is usually lovely and warm.
My DD are January which is truly awful and the other one is August which I didn't think was awful but she doesn't get to party or see friends for her birthday as they are always on holiday, oh and she's the youngest in the whole class year.

Crispsnatcher · 08/07/2020 22:09

22nd Feb, it's nothing special. It does occasionally fall at the same time as chinese new year, so that can be fun I guess, in terms of food.
