Has anyone brought up obesity re the half price meals out yet?

No but lots of guilt about the school meal vouchers. Which did actually go ahead, but they are dementoring about it anyway Confused Sigh.

Orangeblossom78 · 08/07/2020 17:45

I sent the link to dementory family in Scotland to say it might be nice for them in the holidays.

Orangeblossom78 · 08/07/2020 17:46

Right so I think some places might not do the taking names thing. Our cafe nearby says order with an app, then collect from the hatch. Maybe there are some places which don't.

PatriciaHolm · 08/07/2020 17:48
@Orangeblossom78 Him Indoors calls picking up things that don't rightly belong to you and reissuing them, "wombling".
Making good use of the things that we find, you understand...
Remember you're a womble!!

It's also - nerd alert - an statistical term, referring to identifying areas of rapid change, often in a physical space. So could probably come in handy right about now anyway!

I also feel that we should all be trying to get healthier not go and sit down and eat more junk food. Not saying this applies to everyone, but I'd rather go swimming

Bingo!

SeagoingSexpot · 08/07/2020 17:52

I'M IN A PUB.

My god it's been so long. It's all wonderfully normal here. I had to give my name at the door, but apart from that it's like I've never been away, and I am enjoying the convenience of the new order-to-table app.

Depending on the info the app gathers, that may be enough to contact you anyway if needs be.
Orangeblossom78 · 08/07/2020 17:52

Waitrose has oddly started a new thing of putting trolleys with marked down stuff to rummage through, around the store. Not very good plan would have thought for the virus but hey ho, what do i know. Might be good for wombling

TheOrchidKiller · 08/07/2020 17:53

I was thinking the other day that Boris' hair is starting to resemble a womble. Orinocho, maybe?

BarkandCheese · 08/07/2020 18:03

My mum uses wombling to mean pottering. She often tells me she’s been off wombling around town. I always picture her doing that kind of womble waddle in and out of shops.

I thought I was the only one who'd spotted the....issue. then I went on Twitter 😂

I did think Clap for Carers was a little unfortunate

Dowser · 08/07/2020 18:44

It sounds a bit like the meerkat meals which were brilliant
We mainly used it at Bella italia

Oh I need a drink, water will do..but my mouth isn’t working properly , it’s still a bit lop sided..and very numb.
I darent drink tea in case I scaled myself..and I’m starving.
Dentist numbed me from head to foot...obviously was warned last time that I needed 6 injections just to Remove a rather stuck temporary cap and 12 for the removal of a front tooth.

Willow2017 · 08/07/2020 19:04

Evening all you lovelies.
Am knackered. Eork not busy but with all the hoops we are jumping through to 'make it safe'for customers its twice as much work. Plus getting some customers to stop long enough to explain thjngs to them is a pia. We can't put out cutlery, sauces etc as ususl so we explain where the sit, what is there for them and what we will bring to them..Cue people wandering around looking for sauce, milk, napkins etc😤 Just freaking listen!!!! Spent half the till time at the end of the perspex barrier as nobody can hear you through a plastic visor plus the barrier, it's insane. None of the checkout staff are wearing visors😠

Oh and having a nice chat with a customer while I cleared tables near them until they dropped in how its definately Russia who made the virus and unleashed it so they can rule the world! What do you say to that and keep polite and smiling like a loon?

I am up for free food sign me up.

littlbrowndog · 08/07/2020 19:13

That's priceless.😂

Though the fucking whataboutery in that thread is mind blowing

Willow2017 · 08/07/2020 19:18

That thread is just unreal.
Nothing is good enough for some people. It reminds me of a fave quote from my Xbox game.
"If we brought him Hitler's head on a silver platter he would complain about the shine" 🤣🤣

torydeathdrug · 08/07/2020 19:18

We’ll all be up for free food - I might stop cooking for half the week in August.

@Willow2017 dd is back at work, all her customers are desperate to chat. She’s only allowed 3 tables at a time, constant cleaning one way systems etc & in a visor & mask so everything is slow & uncomfortable ... but those who are coming in are ever so pleased to be there!

Not sure if France is one of the countries the D’s want us to emulate (were they strict & miserable enough?) - but the prime minister has said that even a second wave won’t result in another national lockdown

“ France is bracing for a second wave of Covid-19 cases but cannot afford the “disastrous” economic consequences of another national lockdown, its new prime minister said on Wednesday.

"We must be ready for a second wave, but we would not proceed with a [national] lockdown as we did in March, because we’ve learned… that the economic and human consequences of a total lockdown are disastrous,” ”

Willow2017 · 08/07/2020 19:21

that the economic and human consequences of a total lockdown are disastrous,”

No shit Sherlock!

BogRollBOGOF · 08/07/2020 19:24

I've had a busy one today. Took DS1 out to town for a "field trip" to the newly reopened local museum and supported the local economy at McDonalds and an independent cafe. My little disease vector enjoyed his cake and hot chocolate Grin

DS2 was supposed to come but failed to meet the requirements of doing the tidying up to earn the outing. He's past the mopey depressed stage into stubbornly refusing to do anything constructive. It'll be his 7yo way of trying to get some control into his world, but it would not be a good life lesson to let him get away with it either.
DS1 enjoyed his first DS2-free day in 3.5 months anyway.

Politically homeless here. Safe seat anyway.

Made the mistake of wandering into a thread where they want everyone on WFH permanently. I will be distraught if this happens to me. I need my office life.
