I used to know a yellow Labrador called Briggs. Admittedly, that was the name on the tag on his collar so was most likely the name of his family. But it seemed to suit him ( as far as I was concerned) so he was always Briggs to me, whatever his actual name may have been. If I ever have a male yellow Labrador, he will be called Briggs.

You'd be surprised what mice can learn.

I wouldn't, Dr Squeak was definitely planning to take over the world.

I maybe would have called her Boris if she hadn't already had a name

They really don't mind a name change - they answer to the rustle of a bag or the chopping of veg .....then they cotton onto their names Grin

I had a Himalayan piggie ( ivory, chocolate pointed) originally called Smudge . She was re named Oreo (sounds nothing like Smudge) but she answered to it .

We re name alll ours .
I think it's only horses that are unlucky to rename ( don't know why)

There was an AMA thread by someone in a Dog Rescue , one of the saddest posts was about people dumping an elderly dog and not even leaving it with it's name Sad so they had to start a fresh .
Not even the dignity of "Please look after Barry"

I met a teeny, tiny little puppy in our high street last winter. He was a scruffy, hairy little thing with boot button eyes and was wearing a little blue jumper. He was crying to be picked up as he didn’t like walking but his owner said he has to walk, he can’t be carried everywhere like he wanted. His name was Gnasher! 😂

Hoppinggreen · 06/07/2020 20:19

On a cartoon DS likes (can’t remember which) there is a dog called “Di -oh -gee” . That’s how it’s pronounced. Took me ages to realise it was actually spelt D-O -G!
