I have just bought a Bissell crosswave, and it is amazing. I feel so organised with lovely clean floors.

What have you bought that has made a real difference to your life?

Shamelessly materialistic

Ok this is a bit pathetic compared to everyone else but frozen diced onions have changed my life. I've not chopped an onion in about 3 years. Makes cooking so much easier/quicker.

dalrympy · 03/08/2020 08:16

Philips lumea. Worth every penny. Had mine for about 7 years and I'm about to upgrade.

Dishwasher. Has completely changed my life. I knew it would be good but not THIS good.

baublegirl353 · 03/08/2020 14:42

Aldi have a roomba dupe today! £129 - I wondered if anyone had one and if it was any good?

jcurve · 03/08/2020 16:15

Dettol No Touch soap dispenser (£12 or so), super handy in lockdown
AirPods Pro - connect seamlessly to iPhones & make long calls a pleasure due to the noise cancelling feature
Peleton bike - I exercise much more now that it’s on my schedule not the gym’s
Delonghi Bean to Cup - the MVP of lockdown by a fair way! Has saved us a fortune on takeaway coffee

GinJeanie · 03/08/2020 16:43

@lamadeupname - am so excited about toaster tongs I've just ordered some! 😊

You won't regret it!

justgoingforanap · 03/08/2020 19:49

@dalrympy What are you upgrading to out of interest? I'd love to get one, but not sure it will work for me as I have PCOS, but the price has gone down a bit on Amazon ATM. £325 - wonder if it's worth waiting for Black Friday sale? This is for the Prestige model.

dalrympy · 03/08/2020 20:37

@justgoingforanap I haven't decided yet. It'll be another lumea though. Mine is actually still fine but I want to get whichever model flashes the quickest. Mine takes a little while between flashes and that makes doing a whole leg a bit of a lengthy process!

longtompot · 06/08/2020 14:21

Lakeland toaster tongs are so good, for so little a cost.

I too would love to know about your window mesh screens @Linemanfort My yd has a bug phobia and the ones we've used have not been great. I have a thread curtain for our kitchen door which helps cut down the a,out of flies and wasps we get in there, but if I open the window, in they come. I need a screen for that window.

My dog. She makes me get up and until recently, out of the house every day. She's hurt her leg so can only do a short walk and I am missing our countryside rambles.

Blackout blinds for our south facing bedroom.

Crocs flip flops. So comfy and have lasted years. I think mine are over 5 years old and are just starting to break at the toe peg.

PhantomErik · 06/08/2020 18:45

I ordered an Eufy because of this thread & it arrived today & I LOVE it!

It's quiet & low enough to go under our coffee table & finds it base when told to.

Now considering toaster tongs.....

iloveroastpotatoes · 06/08/2020 20:27

My Eufy arrived yesterday and I'm in love. Wish I'd bought one sooner!!

fucknuckle · 06/08/2020 21:03

my Motability car. i’ve been pretty much housebound since my old car broke down in november. then my PIP review increased my mobility award and i now have a brand new car.

life-changing.

Shizzlestix · 06/08/2020 22:52

Cassette blackout, it fits over and covers a window. My DH does shifts, so this is fab and also makes me sleep longer because the room is pitch black.

Dogs, they’re 10, they make me get up in the morning and get out.

Secondhand leather electric recliner, blissful, fits me, the DH and the two dogs.

groovergirl · 07/08/2020 03:54

Hot water bottles! I was never allowed to have one as a child/teenager (and still have no idea why). I was wretchedly cold, ravaged by period pain (not allowed to have aspirin either) and a chronic insomniac. My lovely hotties have taken care of all that. In winter I usually have three in the bed, and oh, what a snug girl am I. Grin

I'm easily pleased!

....sooooo tempted, but only convinced DH that the £250 Tineco cordless was worth it about 3 weeks ago.... don’t think I’ll get away with another vacuum in such a short space of time Grin
lborgia · 07/08/2020 08:00

@groovergirl - oh I completely agree! I used to have 3 strategically placed until this year, when I suddenly decided to put our amazing Aldi heated throw on the bed!

It looks like a velvety blanket you would fling on a sofa, but has a cable and you can decide how hot and how many hours you need. I only put it on a 1 or 2 out of 8 I think, for 7 hours, and it's bliss.

tigerbear · 07/08/2020 08:02

Nutribullet
Ours gets used every single day for juices, milkshakes, smoothies, soups and pancakes.

Keep it in mind tho' because a cordless and a robot vacuum are a perfect combination. (Our robo also 'mops' - more of a decent wipe with a damp cloth - but it keeps the kitchen floor from getting sticky and clears up messes before they get tracked elsewhere.)

Desmondo2016 · 07/08/2020 10:04

Philips Lumea. Literally life changing.

Lurleene · 07/08/2020 10:22

My lawnmower has just died and I was delighted - I finally had an excuse to buy a cordless one. My lawn is a very odd shape, on different levels and slopes. Every time I got the old one out I could barely manoeuvre it and spent the whole time terrified of mowing through the wire. As a result I would put off mowing the lawn which made the job even harder. This new cordless one is a revelation, so easy to use. I really wish I hadn't waited for an excuse to buy one it would have saved me so much faff!

Trashtara · 07/08/2020 11:05

Robovac. Don't remember the last time I hoovered downstairs.

Trashtara · 07/08/2020 11:06

EmbarrassingAdmissions which one do you have? I'm looking to upgarde.

TrickyD · 07/08/2020 12:15

On the current thread about what makes a home cosy, there are more Eufy junkies. Reading the posts there I was forced to buy one and am eagerly anticipating its changing my life.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 07/08/2020 12:23

I doubt mine is an upgrade - it's a Venga but I know other similar vacuum/mopping ones exist.

I find it more effective than I'd have thought feasible.

The other 'robot' we have that is surprisingly useful but a bit of a faff is a window cleaner that also does tiles and smooth painted walls. It is very good at keeping on top of the bits of the kitchen walls/tiles/worktops that would otherwise accumulate grime or stains.

My velvet heated throw. I live in a big old draughty house and don't want to be bankrupted by heating bills. This is the difference between misery and comfort in winter.
The iPad, aka My Precious. Use it for everything, streaming, Kindle, photos, writing, voice recording, apps... probably one of the biggest life changers.
The satnav. Practically stress free driving to unknown destinations, navigating complicated junctions with ease. Even round Birmingham.
The crepe maker. Bought cheap from Lidl, brought out at the end of the week, when we run out of brunch ideas, and our guests love them.
The whirly stick thing, for perfect non lumpy sauces.
The microwave rice cooker. I'm rubbish at rice without this miracle device.
The multi drawers. I bought two floor standing metal multi drawer workshop chests and spray painted them, inside and out. Now, all of those small annoying things are stored tidily and I can usually find them. I have drawers for jewellery, trainer socks, Insoles and clippers, hair bands, hair slides, etc. I have some smaller spice chests with ceramic drawers for fuses, batteries, picture hooks, safety pins, etc.
