For me the life changers have been my holiday homes.
They’ve ranged from cheap £1200 for my first tourer caravan to expensive $144,000 for our house in Orlando.
I’ve had 8 althogether. Four with first husband the first static, the cottage in thirsk, the house in Orlando and the little place in France
I’m now onto my fourth place with second husband. We’ve had Three tourers , each one one was second or third hand and each one was better than the last. We are now in another static, in a field in N Yorks watching the rain yet again.
When the kids were little the caravan and then the cottage were life savers and we were there every weekend from March 1 till October 31 .
The static we had for ten years and the the cottage we had for ten and of course we could go in the winter there.
At the caravan site they roamed around from a very early age and made lots of friends, it just gave me and their dad a bit of breathing space.
Great days..and I can well recommend it
I know some people love tenting..but a caravan just gives you that bit more security if it pelts it down or very windy.
We sold the cottage when the kids no longer wanted to come and bought the place in Florida. That was fabulous and over the almost 10 years we had it, I must’ve visited about 40 times , in between we bought the little chalet in France . Also lovely but only got about a week there over a full year and three weeks in the three years we had it..so had to sell it on.
Shortly after meeting my second husband I bought a tourer and we left it on the very first site in N Yorks I had started on , 30 years previous Ly. Neither of us wanted to tow, we just wanted to sling our stuff in the car and go.
My dd had one next door and It was great spending time with my grandkids.
We now have a static on a very quiet , not really family orientated Site..gods waiting room for retired campers I call it.
Sun is out and i love it.
They’ve all been good investments and I made money on each of them when I sold them on..even if just a little bit of profit.
Course you’re investing in your life style, so it’s never a money making exercise. Caravan site fees, maintainance, bottled gas , electric and insurance etc can make them money pits if you’re not careful but if it’s all about enhancing the quality of your life then this is the route to go.
Since 1979 there’s only been one year I didn’t have a holiday home and that was the year I met my second husband.
He lived in a different town..so visiting him each weekend, was as good as going to a holiday home
My dd has a pop up caravan and goes off for a night to meet her friends with their camper van and caravan. It her little bit of sanity.
There’s a little beauty on eBay for £1500..just saying.
