I have just bought a Bissell crosswave, and it is amazing. I feel so organised with lovely clean floors.

What have you bought that has made a real difference to your life?

Shamelessly materialistic

If I were to purchase an Eufy is there any reason it wouldn’t be able to do our artificial lawn? I worry about what the neighbours think every time I lug Henry out there Blush

Ichangedmynameonce · 02/08/2020 09:20

I really want a eufy now! I just looked online and the 30c model is currently 169.00 on sale.

can anyone tell me

  1. can I go from hard floor to a rug or does it get stuck? our rugs are very thin
  2. will it suck up hair? between DD and me our carpets always seem to be covered
  3. can it go from hard floor to carpet?

thanks everyone

SidesteppinTheRona · 02/08/2020 09:32

My dog and a rural house near the beach.
Long walks out everyday have transformed my health and mental wellbeing.

Chameleon2003 · 02/08/2020 10:45

@Ichangedmynameonce
It goes easily between hard floor and carpet.

Every time I use it I take out the roller and cut out the long hair - it's very quick and easy to do.

For me the life changers have been my holiday homes.
They’ve ranged from cheap £1200 for my first tourer caravan to expensive $144,000 for our house in Orlando.

I’ve had 8 althogether. Four with first husband the first static, the cottage in thirsk, the house in Orlando and the little place in France
I’m now onto my fourth place with second husband. We’ve had Three tourers , each one one was second or third hand and each one was better than the last. We are now in another static, in a field in N Yorks watching the rain yet again.

When the kids were little the caravan and then the cottage were life savers and we were there every weekend from March 1 till October 31 .
The static we had for ten years and the the cottage we had for ten and of course we could go in the winter there.

At the caravan site they roamed around from a very early age and made lots of friends, it just gave me and their dad a bit of breathing space.
Great days..and I can well recommend it
I know some people love tenting..but a caravan just gives you that bit more security if it pelts it down or very windy.

We sold the cottage when the kids no longer wanted to come and bought the place in Florida. That was fabulous and over the almost 10 years we had it, I must’ve visited about 40 times , in between we bought the little chalet in France . Also lovely but only got about a week there over a full year and three weeks in the three years we had it..so had to sell it on.
Shortly after meeting my second husband I bought a tourer and we left it on the very first site in N Yorks I had started on , 30 years previous Ly. Neither of us wanted to tow, we just wanted to sling our stuff in the car and go.
My dd had one next door and It was great spending time with my grandkids.

We now have a static on a very quiet , not really family orientated Site..gods waiting room for retired campers I call it.
Sun is out and i love it.
They’ve all been good investments and I made money on each of them when I sold them on..even if just a little bit of profit.
Course you’re investing in your life style, so it’s never a money making exercise. Caravan site fees, maintainance, bottled gas , electric and insurance etc can make them money pits if you’re not careful but if it’s all about enhancing the quality of your life then this is the route to go.

Since 1979 there’s only been one year I didn’t have a holiday home and that was the year I met my second husband.
He lived in a different town..so visiting him each weekend, was as good as going to a holiday home

My dd has a pop up caravan and goes off for a night to meet her friends with their camper van and caravan. It her little bit of sanity.
There’s a little beauty on eBay for £1500..just saying.

The cat (£450)
A menstrual cup (£12)
A pop socket thing for the back of my phone so I can hold it more easily (£6)
Some weird slime stuff that gets dust out of all the crevices in the car (£7)

Dowser · 02/08/2020 11:18

Yes to cats , all 5 of them were persians so lots of maintenance and lots of hair..probably could have done with a eufy
And yes to ipads..both definitely life changers.
Sat navs...oh the times I’ve sat and navigated our way to france with a map and three kids in the back ..and getting lost argh
I once tooK us from The south of France to cadburyworld with no idea where it was apart from bournville . Only had a flimsy bit of map and it was very stressful but I managed it.
It sort of cancelled out the hash I made of getting us to a Pierre and vacances holiday in cap Estelle and I practically had us in Toulouse.
Nightmare

Ichangedmynameonce · 02/08/2020 12:40

@Chameleon2003 thank you!

justgoingforanap · 02/08/2020 14:26

@Linemanfort what are these mesh screens? Where did you get them please?

justgoingforanap · 02/08/2020 14:29

I'm still loving my Eufy. But it does need maintenance. Long hair gets caught around the roller (as it does on my handheld Dyson) but it comes with a little tool to de-hair it. It is still the best thing I have ever bought. If there was something that would clean the bathroom that would top it though.

Juiceey · 02/08/2020 14:58

There's a Eufy on amazon for £149. SO TEMPTED.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 02/08/2020 15:08

Portable USB screen to attach to laptop as second screen

Any particular one?

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 02/08/2020 15:14

@Juiceey

There's a Eufy on amazon for £149. SO TEMPTED.
I have a gadget that vacuums and 'mops' (more like a good wet wipe) and it's so helpful (I don't have carpets, just hard floors). It keeps the kitchen floor free of stickiness until it's time for its regular scrub.

I also have a window washer gadget that is a faff to monitor but does a decent job of windows, painted walls, and tiles.

I doubt I could manage without these gadgets (inflammatory arthritis that makes it difficult for me to grasp things, use gadgets above a certain weight and size etc.).

It's freed up time that is now taken up with different cleaning (wiping common surfaces etc.).

If more family members are going to have to shield (depending on the upcoming policies) then I'd definitely want them to have Eufys or similar to keep on top of their cleaning.

I may go and check the Eufys on Amazon for them!

Thesuzle · 02/08/2020 15:19

Giggly - melatonin,! what sourcery is this for insomnia/menopause.?
How long before you were sleeping, How bad was the insomnia ? I cant have HRT
Desperate to know what you and others think

TheYellowOfTheEgg · 02/08/2020 15:29

iTouch Sure Pelvic Floor pelvic floor exerciser.

After 3 vaginal births I had some stress incontinence when sneezing, coughing, laughing and couldn't do high impact stuff in the exercise classes.

I bought this pelvic floor exerciser about 3-4 years ago. After using this for 2-3 weeks it was pretty much completely fixed. I still use it every week or two for maintenance, but it's fab. I no longer have to know that there are toilets available when I go out. I can run and jump.

Eeeeeeeok · 02/08/2020 16:10

The cats. (donations to shelter and foster parent of around £100 in total for 2 cats )
Air fryer (£90ish)
My first jumpsuit (£35 asos) I know have many more

TiddleTaddleTat · 02/08/2020 16:18

Wireless headphones with noise cancelling function. Best purchase ever and only about £15 from Aldi.
Fitbit dupe from Amazon for £15. Reassured me that I have had enough sleep.

Scentsandsensible · 02/08/2020 17:14

I always mention this but discovering keratin blow dries changed my life (the ones at the hairdressers). No more faffing aroind straightening hair for hours and spending a fortune on frizz ease tho products.
Also a wine foil cutter - just so much less faff.

PhantomErik · 02/08/2020 18:32

Chilly's bottle! So good we all have them now. DD came home from school & there were still ice cubes clinking around!

Would love a robot vacuum!
