Caught a George Michael documentary on All 4 and just reminded me what an amazing singer and songwriter he really was.
I love Cowboys and Angels, the introduction is just perfection. What's your favourite?

Heart failure I think. Died alone on Christmas Day right? And then his sister died 3 years later, to the day.

Destroyedpeople · 28/06/2020 07:53

'How did he die'?
'His heart stopped'....

Fatty liver disease on the death cert apparently. ...

Knobblybobbly · 28/06/2020 08:02

Google is quite amazing

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/06/2020 08:04

A Different Corner. Also Club Tropicana.

AnyFucker · 28/06/2020 08:13

@Knobblybobbly we are chatting. I can't chat with google.

I was very saddened by George's death at the time and still am.

StCharlotte · 28/06/2020 08:19

Cowboys & Angels for me too. So mellow...

He really was an exceptional human being.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 28/06/2020 09:01

I love 'amazing'. Sad he died too early.

MikeDryden · 28/06/2020 09:26

For me, it’s got to be ‘Waiting (reprise)’. Perfect in every way.

I agree with most posters above, I'd struggle to formulate a top 10 - too many amazing tunes to choose. I saw GM in concert a few times, and he was absolutely amazing.

I miss him, same with Freddie. I think they had a lot more music in them and would have loved to hear it.

OceanPacific · 28/06/2020 10:17

They Won't Go When I Go.
Quite the most powerful, beautiful, haunting song, particularly in light of his early death.

I totally agree with this. Who would you say was comparable in music right now?

Poppet1974 · 28/06/2020 10:20

Father Figure & Waiting For That Day 🥰🥰

AS with Mary J Blige - amazing. He was my first real crush when Wham first started, I had posters of him all over my walls.

SauvignonBlanketyBlank · 28/06/2020 10:47

Knew you were waiting with Aretha Franklin

Knobblybobbly · 28/06/2020 14:24

@OceanPacific

Sam Smith and Adele both have a voice with an amazing quality. I also recently watched the Netflix documentary about Queen with Adam Lambert and whilst his voice is entirely different from Freddie’s, it is pretty bloody amazing!!

I’ve also been stunned by Beyoncé’s voice.

(And slightly embarrassed to admit I really like Michael Hutchance’s voice!)

EpilepsyMum4 · 28/06/2020 14:35

Freedom (Wham!)
Kissing A Fool

maddiemookins16mum · 28/06/2020 14:41

Careless Whisper, it just takes me back to the early 80s.

iklboo · 28/06/2020 14:48

His version of First Time Ever I Saw Your Face is stunning.

Unevenbeard · 28/06/2020 14:48

@Knobblybobbly saw that doc too, it was great. Seen Queen and Adam Lambert live quite a few times. Whilst there will never be another Freddie, Adam is a good fit and has an amazing set of lungs on him
