Dp had an ingrown hair 3 weeks ago that has suddenly decided to go bananas. I’ve forced him to call his GP and waiting a call back, but wondering if any MNers could shed some light in the meantime!

Freddo
Vinegar and brown paper
which is the same acid anaerobic environment as the AB and brine that the OPs GP and then I suggested :-)

The basic principles of good hygiene will become the norm again

TeddyIsaHe · 19/06/2020 21:07

Dp just described the edges as looking ‘meaty’ 🤮🤮

I’ll post an update photo when he deigns you allow it Grin

Make up a batch of saline and get him to soak it in
you'll know its strong enough because he'll wince and say diddly squat
dripping that into the abcess
combined with the drugs
will whump that wound
but he HAS to

  • not play with it
  • keep pouring saline in it
molly2312 · 19/06/2020 21:17

Oh god I wonder what it is, I would be squeezing it if it were me

Marimaur · 19/06/2020 21:41

Google dilated pore of Wine - my sister had something that look like this on her shoulder.

I’m a nurse. Sounds like it’s the right course of action to have the antibiotics, check it doesn’t spread! I’d strongly advise against cleaning it by dabbing it with anything (I’ve seen toilet paper and cotton on this thread). He can clean it by soaking gauze in boiled water then squeezing the gauze so it runs over the wound. Dabbing it can cause the fibres from whatever you dab it with to get stuck in the wound! Can increase the infection risk.

If anything does fall out of it please share on here!

Merename · 19/06/2020 22:17

Oh the funnies are out tonight!! Hope he’s ok.

winewolfhowls · 19/06/2020 22:29

If I zoom in on your original pic, I'm sure I see a beady eye.

StartingGrid · 19/06/2020 22:37

Jesus christ this thread is a living hell for me, yet I still read all 9 pages! I don't think I will sleep tonight

Turniptracker · 19/06/2020 22:51

Watching with interest to see what comes out!!

PrincessForADay · 19/06/2020 23:08

I think you were very brave & loving to clean it for him. If my DH has a hole like that I would have run away incase something crawled out.

mummymayhem18 · 19/06/2020 23:13

Blimey that looks sore and 🤮🤢. I think it looks like a nasty bite.Skin is very angry. Hope the antibiotics soon start to heal it. ☺️

madcatladyforever · 19/06/2020 23:15

Right I'm an NHS podiatrist and do leg and foot wounds and this is badly infected, stop ignoring this and get antibiotics immediately, it is a nasty abcess and he could get sepsis if he hasn't already. That amount of spreading infection is very dangerous.
never fails to amaze me what men will ignore. I hope he isn't feeling unwell, shivery or feverish.
If I were you I'd get to the minor injuries unit as soon as it opens in the morning.

Sexnotgender · 19/06/2020 23:19

Ouch! That looks sore, glad he’s got antibiotics.

KitchenConfidential · 19/06/2020 23:27

OP you really should have posted in sporner corner.
Hope it gets better soon but looking forward to more pics in the meantime ;)

TinnedPearsForPudding · 19/06/2020 23:30

The antibiotics will take a good 24-48 hrs to begin to "show" they are working. Don't expect miracles by morning. Has been advised to rest & elevate the leg?

EKGEMS · 19/06/2020 23:39

Madcatladyforever It would be an honor to have a wise woman like you as my podiatrist (if I weren't here in North America)

Why assume OP is ignoring it? Have you tried reading her posts?
hopingtobedally · 19/06/2020 23:52

Ffs are people really so utterly pompous and self obsessed they just have to throw their two pennies worth in without checking that the OPS PARTNER HAS SEEN SOMEONE AND GOT ANTIBIOTICS
ITS NOT A SPIDER BITE
ITS NOT BOT FLY LARVAE
CANCEL THE CHEQUE!!!!!

LockdownBlues · 20/06/2020 00:01

How long has it been like that?

StrangeTimes · 20/06/2020 00:14

OP? OP? OMG, something's crawled out the hole and got her!!
