I had grandkids yesterday and today. By the time they were collected today I was truly on my last nerve. OH cooked dinner when he realised I was ready to snap. I do not know how all the mums have managed for the last 87 days

God, has it only been 87 days?!?

Bollss · 18/06/2020 22:42

I agree that the most horrible bastards on here probably have a really shit real life. Like kids who bully generally do it when they have a bad home life. Same thing.

I think a lot of people claiming to be teachers, hcps etc are probably talking bollocks. I hope so in a few cases anyway.

Also the whole "it takes a village" I have never agreed more with a statement in my life. Modern life doesn't really allow for this but my god I wish it did. Right now I dream of living in a 1950s street where I know all the other women and next doors teenager takes my toddler out for a bit.

But that's because women are slowly being pushed back into the home by this, isn't it? Because I didn't feel like I needed that before and yet now I do.

Willow2017 · 18/06/2020 22:43

@SomewhereEast

Also I bet the posters who are being horrible to anyone struggling with homeschooling are the exact same ones who were always horrible to anyone struggling with breastfeeding or babies who woke fifteen times a night or whatever. There's always been a minority on here like that.
I found there is a set of people on here who have never encountered things on threads therefor they have "never happened". It appears in any topic. Such closed mindedness is shocking. Its such an idiotic ignorant view to be proud of! The whole "periods last 15 minutes and i use a scrap of kitchen roll what do you mean you are doubled up in agony?" You are obviously doing it wrong! And toddler tantrums are due to bad parenting. "Mine were reciting Shakespeare and mowing the neighbours lawns at 2yrs old as they were brought up to be decent people." Any thread that involves kid's = lying parent and psychotic kids. "Nobody has ever spoken to me like shit on their shoe in a shop stop lying op." Drives me mad.
TeacupDrama · 18/06/2020 22:44

@justasking111 the distaancw rule doesn't apply to going to work going shopping or visiting friends and family
it is only 5 miles for exercise / recreation
so if you live in Greenock you can drive to Glasgow to go shopping pr for work and to see your granny but you can't go to the botanic gardens or Pollock house for a walk and you definitely cant go to Loch Lomond however if your grandpa lives in luss you can visit him
They just don't want everyone from Glasgow going to Loch lomond at the weekend yet!
not saying I agree with them but being fair Nicola did say specifically today that the 5 mile limit did not apply to visiting friends and family outdoors

Anti histamine tablet for all over nettle stings works a treat.

I was on Zoom for the best part of 4 hours for my committee earlier so I feel like I’ve been smacked round the head several times. I actually felt nauseous coming off the laptop and looking at something real and not on a screen. Like some kind of motion sickness.

Anyone who thinks video conferencing should replace human interaction entirely either doesn’t have to do it that often, or hates people.

Have you tried Morrison's in. Berwick? They do home deliveries to a huge range of places including over the Border? Plus if your mum is vulnerable they have a special vulnerable shopping service thats not the nationwide one which is restrictive. Its only that store thats doing it. You just phone your order in and they do it. They really get to know thier customers personally and often do very nice extras for them if they know its a special occasion or they need a boost.

If you cant get a slot pm me and if your mum lives nearby maybe I can help?

Jourdain11 · 18/06/2020 22:52

Hello murderers 🙋🏻‍♀️

Sorry, this is just a quick one to say hi... Still incarcerated in the Corona pit of doom hospital and feeling fairly rubbishly sick, so please excuse that it's just a short message from me tonight.

Hope you've all had a good day...in spite of the Nicola, the Government, the rain, etc. etc.

rookiemere · 18/06/2020 22:53

I hate zoom with a vengeance, thankfully at work we use webex and teams which are a bit better and even better is that people have either given up on zoom friend meets or they've given up inviting me. Either way it's a win.

Jourdain11 · 18/06/2020 22:55

Oh dear, my emoji came up with a female sign - not intended. That could get me a bashing too! Blush

Pleasedontdothat · 18/06/2020 23:16

I hope you have a better night tonight @jourdain

I made a lovely dhal a couple of days ago with aubergine pickle - it was ridiculously good (even ds2 who allegedly hates aubergine ate it .. mind you he ‘hates spinach’ too so it’s good that I only ever use ‘chopped herbs’ in casseroles and things 🤨)

@PickAChew I have 3 dc with ASD (dh and I should possibly have looked at our wider families a bit more closely before deciding to combine gene pools but hey ho ...) - if you ever need a chat or to compare notes let me know

Nihiloxica · 18/06/2020 23:22

I got invited to a Zoom disco that I think I will go to next weekend. First one in a while.

I live far away from a lot of my good friends, so I'm happy if these kinds of group meetings stay a part of my life, but I don't want them to BE my life and there was a while there where they were and it got unbearable.

Bonsoir Jourdain, nice to see you Smile. Sorry you are still feeling ropey, hope things start to improve.

Nihiloxica · 18/06/2020 23:26

Did you make your own pickle @Pleasedontdothat?

I love dhal. I went through a phase of making various dhals all the time.

I am obsessed by food tonight.

Khione · 18/06/2020 23:31

KOKO @Jourdain11 You will get through this

You are getting double shit portions at the moment but I'm sure you'll get through.

PickAChew · 18/06/2020 23:32

That wouldn't help, @Dowser. DH is the panicky adult in our family. I have days when the boys are being thoroughly themselves and DH is trying to hole himself up away from everything and end up totally flipping out, myself.

NannyPhlegm · 18/06/2020 23:32

Re Zoom meetings, last month my school alumni group organised an impromptu Zoom reunion. It was fantastic! We are all scattered around the world, and most of us are unable to make a real life reunion, but there was nearly 80% attendance for the one on Zoom. It was a blast.

BUT, and this is a big but.......I don't want Zoom to be my only contact with the outside world! I don't want parents evening and work meetings on Zoom. And I certainly don't want to talk to my mum and brother on Zoom rather than real life.

NannyPhlegm · 18/06/2020 23:33

I hope you have a restful night Jourdain. Fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow

Mrsfrumble · 18/06/2020 23:40

Sorry you’re having such a shitter @Jourdain11. Hope at least the hospital isn’t too stuffy and noisy (they usually are in my experience) and you can get some rest.

I think a lot of people claiming to be teachers, hcps etc are probably talking bollocks. I hope so in a few cases anyway.

I think they’re a LOT of bullshitters on MN. I realised this a few years ago when a poster was infamously outed as being a fantasist. It was a revelation to me, and now when I see someone who’s claiming some professional status and is obviously on a power trip to make others feel small I think “yeah, bollocks you are!”

PickAChew · 18/06/2020 23:41

Hope you have a decent night, @Jourdain11

Mrsfrumble · 18/06/2020 23:41

*there are! FFS I need to go to bed!

fartingsparkles · 18/06/2020 23:46

Wishing you a good night @jourdain

Yes, exactly.

When it was only human contact outside these four walls it was grim as fuck.

Hope its all sorted pdq Jourdain hopefully a better night and prospect of home soon.

BogRollBOGOF · 19/06/2020 01:13

I'm too self depricating to pull off lying. I'd be hopelessly inconsistent and mess it all up anyway Grin
