Help me solve the mystery of the fry’s chocolate cream

I’ve just had a parcel sent via the Royal Mail 48 hour service. It has a return address on the label which is a newsagent in Glasgow.

It’s 5 packs of three different flavours of Fry’s Chocolate Cream bars. They’re not something I’d ever choose, I don’t know anyone in Glasgow, and I haven’t entered any competitions or anything.

I’m confused, and a tiny bit pissed off that it’s not maltesersGrin

To your name?

UnitedRoad · 06/06/2020 13:04

Yes, addressed to me, first name and surname. No paperwork, and the box is made from a piece of cardboard, not a proper box if that makes sense.

Ohhh.

Just marking my place 😁

DobbyTheHouseElk · 06/06/2020 13:06

Why don’t I ever get unsolicited parcels of fry’s peppermint creams. I love fry’s cream bars. Soooo good.

UnitedRoad · 06/06/2020 13:06

I haven’t bought much online during the lockdown as I haven’t had any money. My only outstanding order is a roll of thread from eBay, but from a haberdashery shop, so it’s unlikely to be a mixup. Also it weighs 1kg so would have cost a lot to send

Did you sign up for Redditgifts?

Justgivemesomepeace · 06/06/2020 13:07

Think they were for me. Slight misdirection from Stockport.

poozel · 06/06/2020 13:08

Did you do that thing on Facebook where people who posted a rainbow on your status would receive a surprise gift at some point this year

AncoraAmarena · 06/06/2020 13:08

Are you vegan?

Frys are 'accidentally vegan', so if you are maybe someone has grabbed a load and sent them as a treat, thinking you will like them? (They are £1 for a pack of three usually).

If not then, I am stumped though happy for you to send them to me!

AwkwardAsAllGetout · 06/06/2020 13:09

Something from your amazon wish list?

UnitedRoad · 06/06/2020 13:09

Not signed up to anything!

I’m so sorry @DobbyTheHouseElk. I hope you get some soon. My husbands eyeing up the mint cream but I’ve said no because someone’s going to want their chocolate back eventually

Think they are mine, OpWink

Loooooove a frys barGrin

DobbyTheHouseElk · 06/06/2020 13:10

Dispose of the evidence. It’s the only way.

Myneighboursnorlax · 06/06/2020 13:11

If the Glasgow newsagent has an online shop or sells through FB during coronavirus then could it have just been one of your friends/family ordering them as a surprise for you, without realising where they were being sent from?

Stopthehop · 06/06/2020 13:12

Could you Google the phone number for the newsagents on the return label and give them a call?

BigSandyBalls2015 · 06/06/2020 13:13

Haven’t seen this in shops for years! Fond memories

GreenCoatBlackBag · 06/06/2020 13:13

Who knew there were so many flavours?! Are those strawberry?!

Hoppinggreen · 06/06/2020 13:15

My real name is UnitedSTREET so I can see how this happened
It’s not a problem, I will PM you my address so you can send them on
And tell your DH to back off the peppermint creams, they are my favourite

UnitedRoad · 06/06/2020 13:17

I’m not vegan, although it’s good to hear that they are, and are cheap. Daughter’s vegetarian and recently bought vegan galaxy the other day but it was about £3.

My amazon wish list is just books.

I’ve tried ringing the shop on the return address, but no answer. It looks an unlikely place to be sending out random gifts

Off topic slightly but I miss fry's five fruits Sad

Bunkbedpeople · 06/06/2020 13:18

I’m thinking someone’s looked up the address of an elderly aunt with the same name as you who is isolating and can’t get to the shops.

They don’t know them very well so they’ve used 192.com and haven’t twigged it’s not the right city.

For some reason blokes often don’t like cards or notes so just order stuff and send it unmarked.

I think if you phoned the newsagent they might have the details (or they might be overworked and be like “not my problem”)

UnitedRoad · 06/06/2020 13:19

Yes Strawberry, raspberry, mint, orange, and cream.

I’m so confused!

lilyboleyn · 06/06/2020 13:21

It’ll be a cheer up present from someone.

notthemum · 06/06/2020 13:21

Oh my goodness. I was just sitting here wondering where my chocolate was, and it turns out you have it. Not a problem as long as your DH doesn't steal any. Just pack it up, send it to me and we'll say no more about it. 🎉🍫🍫🍫🍫

Jingstohang · 06/06/2020 13:24

Southside glasgow then, do you know any hipsters?

Theres a few shawlands groups on Facebook, I'd post in there. Although the address may just be of where it was posted.
