Help me solve the mystery of the fry’s chocolate cream

I’ve just had a parcel sent via the Royal Mail 48 hour service. It has a return address on the label which is a newsagent in Glasgow.

It’s 5 packs of three different flavours of Fry’s Chocolate Cream bars. They’re not something I’d ever choose, I don’t know anyone in Glasgow, and I haven’t entered any competitions or anything.

I’m confused, and a tiny bit pissed off that it’s not maltesersGrin

'If only you'd told me before...'

HollowTalk · 06/06/2020 15:30

Hey you don't have to be an elderly aunt to like Fry's Chocolate Cream!

Chienloup · 06/06/2020 15:34

I'm still mourning g Fry's Five.

Elieza · 06/06/2020 15:48

Three for a pound in farm foods.

Including the raspberry one Grin

picklemewalnuts · 06/06/2020 15:52

Right. Do they count as essential if I really really want them? Might need to persuade DH.

YouDirtyMare · 06/06/2020 15:52

Why haven't you eaten them already?
Scoff the lot

Snowpatrolling · 06/06/2020 15:54

I received an Ikea delivery earlier in the week.
My name and address on the box, but I hadn’t ordered anything!
Ikea are not taking phone calls at the moment, I’ve tweeted and messaged with no reply,
So now I am the proud owner of some pretty storage pots!

Blingismything · 06/06/2020 15:56

Poundland is your friend Fry's lovers. Currently stocking all flavours.

ofwarren · 06/06/2020 15:57

I ordered the exact same items from Amazon the other day. All those flavours for about £15.
The kids loved the strawberry ones.

Dowser · 06/06/2020 16:00

Being dairy free..I buy them from time to time as Poundland stocks them
I find them very sweet,
I’m more a bendicks mint sort of person
But hey, this is lockdown
I’ll happily take one for the team
Argh..I’m just having a peppermint cream now
I shouldn’t, I really shouldn’t
But I am

PrivateSpidey · 06/06/2020 16:03

HollowTalk too right!

Five Centres were just so nice, especially the pineapple section as a PP mentioned.

I absolutely used to love a Fry's Cream/new Bunty comic from the newsagents every week! The ultimate combo.

Not seen these new-fangled strawberry ones before though... V interesting...

WhitbyGoth · 06/06/2020 16:03

OP there mine thanks for looking after them Grin

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 06/06/2020 16:04

You got the strawberry ones! I know they are only 3 for a quid But I’m nowhere near any shops that sell them. (My fat arse sighs in relief)

ilovecardigans · 06/06/2020 16:07

Do they count as essential

It is my belief that the fruit ones should count as one of your five a day. Also chocolate is made from cocoa beans. These are also fruits (or are they vegetables? - who cares it's the same).

The mint ones also count because of the cocoa beans and mint is a plant therefore another of your five a day. I know this because I have a mint plant growing in my garden.

So, yes - definitely essential. Grin

Sn0tnose · 06/06/2020 16:10

I have never seen the strawberry ones before! I’m so excited!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 06/06/2020 16:37

Do you live above a Poundland ? Though that delivery wouldn’t exactly fill shelves

This morning I noticed in Poundland (a while section) that they had orange, peppermint, strawberry and the plain one that I have no idea what flavour it’s meant to be

I had a look for the multi flavour Fry’s bar but they didn’t have it. If you get sent a pack of the multi flavour Fry’s bar I shall happily pay to take it off your hands Grin

VenusTiger · 06/06/2020 16:51

There's 5 packs of 5 flavours OP not 3.... maybe someone you know has ordered them from amazon and accidentally clicked on your name and address in the checkout section.

Dougalthesyrianhamster · 06/06/2020 16:56

I'm only in my 30s and remember the Fry's five fruits!

Dougalthesyrianhamster · 06/06/2020 16:57

@ilovecardigans Looks like that advert was made in the days when the centre was solid & crumbly, rather than the runny crap that's in them now!

Dougalthesyrianhamster · 06/06/2020 16:59

@ofwarren You were ripped off! These are 3 for £1 in shops everywhere, including Poundland

ofwarren · 06/06/2020 17:01

@Dougalthesyrianhamster possibly but we are shielding and couldn't get a shopping delivery for a few days so 🤷
It was money well spent

MagnoliaJustice · 06/06/2020 17:06

So have you asked your mum if she sent them you? Or do you have a secret admirer who is trying to woo you with Poundland chocolate?

iklboo · 06/06/2020 17:07

I HAVE FOUND SOME IN MY SOCK DRAWER!!

I'd forgotten I'd got them and hid put them away.

UnitedRoad · 06/06/2020 17:18

I’ve called my mum four times but she’s not picking up. She’s in Portugal and they only turn the wifi on when they want to use it.

Photo is for proof so I’m not called a chocolate troll or an enabler. So far we haven’t eaten any, but mostly because they look like my worst chocolate nightmare, and also because I’ve got a 4 pack of wispas in my desk drawer (well...there are only 3 left now)
