Help me solve the mystery of the fry’s chocolate cream

I’ve just had a parcel sent via the Royal Mail 48 hour service. It has a return address on the label which is a newsagent in Glasgow.

It’s 5 packs of three different flavours of Fry’s Chocolate Cream bars. They’re not something I’d ever choose, I don’t know anyone in Glasgow, and I haven’t entered any competitions or anything.

I’m confused, and a tiny bit pissed off that it’s not maltesersGrin

Oh Fry's chocolate! Love it!

Lordfrontpaw · 06/06/2020 17:33

@Myneighboursnorlax

If the Glasgow newsagent has an online shop or sells through FB during coronavirus then could it have just been one of your friends/family ordering them as a surprise for you, without realising where they were being sent from?
I think someone had ordered this as a ‘chocolate gift hamper’ and it’s missed the mark slightly. Wait for someone to mention it?

I hope there wasn’t supposed to be a card with it or someone is thinking ‘that did hasn’t called to say thanks for the hamper’.

Have you been doing any zoom quizzes and these are your prize?

PrincessConsuelaVaginaHammock · 06/06/2020 17:36

Why do things like this never happen to me? I love Frys!

Lordfrontpaw · 06/06/2020 17:37

Not a fan - but free chocolate is free chocolate!

LevoMental · 06/06/2020 17:41

RASPBERRY?

How did I not know these existed.

I'm not far from Glasgow, I wonder if I could make an essential trip?

Haha, gotta love targeted ads!

OP, my sister lives in Glasgow and ordered some of these - but I don't think they turned up. I wonder if they sent them to you by mistake ShockShock

missyB1 · 06/06/2020 18:36

Ok I’ve just ordered the exact same selection from Amazon- I’m blaming you for ruining my diet OP!

keepingbees · 06/06/2020 18:39

Have you checked your order history on your amazon account? Has anyone else in the household ordered them or your account been hacked?

UnitedRoad · 06/06/2020 19:51

SOLVED - I’ve just spoken to my mum and they’re my birthday present (not until July, but there you go). She said she chose them because it’s dark chocolate, so I won’t eat so much.

Nothing says happy birthday like your mum forgetting the month you were born while reminding you that you’re fat.

OP posts:
Lordfrontpaw · 06/06/2020 19:53

Aw bless - she was thinking about you and your health!

SpeedofaSloth · 06/06/2020 19:53

Wow, she's a bit mean.

VodselForDinner · 06/06/2020 19:55

Oh OP, that’s horrible.

For my friend’s 50th, her mother gave her money in a card along with a note inside to say it was to go towards a Weight Watchers membership.

BarbaraofSeville · 06/06/2020 20:13

Weird. She would have been better sending a small box of nice chocolates rather than a pile of cheap rubbish, and kept her mean comments about the OPs weight to herself.

HollowTalk · 06/06/2020 20:15

TitianaTitsling · 06/06/2020 20:40

Ouch! When's her birthday? Get her something equally as thoughtful.. .(I'm totally immature of course! Grin)

ilovecardigans · 06/06/2020 21:18

Aww @UnitedRoad. I know it's not your birthday yet but have some early Flowers and 🍾 from me.

Dougalthesyrianhamster · 07/06/2020 03:19

@UnitedRoad Omg.... Seriously that's really hurtful. I'd be cutting contact. Wow

Your own mother decides to get you £5 worth of chocolate then essentially calls you fat?
Yeah, she was chuckling when she ordered those

1forAll74 · 07/06/2020 04:04

Its' very odd, but don't think you will have to send them back.People never send chocolate back. Just check that the choc is genuine,as in the wrappings etc. I would just like to say, that I had my first Fry's cream mint choc bar, in 1947, after the war sweet rationing ha ha,

ilikefrys · 07/06/2020 04:13

Imagine the excitement of opening surprise chocolate, then realising it’s shitty Fry’s.

I pay quite a bit for a Fry's in the British aisle of the supermarket in Australia Grin

Would love a Wispa.

That is shit she forgot your birthday and makes remarks about your weight. And sad that you actually pres

ilikefrys · 07/06/2020 04:14

Ah fuck.

Sad that you were able to predict it. I hope you told her that was out of line. And to send you a proper gift.

Pixxie7 · 07/06/2020 04:42

They have them for sale on e bay, have you bought anything from there recently?

Dougalthesyrianhamster · 07/06/2020 14:26

@ilikefrys Happy to post some Wispa & Fry's bars if you can refund postage afterwards? :)

iklboo · 07/06/2020 15:16

Oh OP that's awful. I'm sorry about your mum.
