Help me solve the mystery of the fry’s chocolate cream

I’ve just had a parcel sent via the Royal Mail 48 hour service. It has a return address on the label which is a newsagent in Glasgow.

It’s 5 packs of three different flavours of Fry’s Chocolate Cream bars. They’re not something I’d ever choose, I don’t know anyone in Glasgow, and I haven’t entered any competitions or anything.

I’m confused, and a tiny bit pissed off that it’s not maltesersGrin

No ideas where it might have come from, but dead jealous, you have a raspberry and a strawberry Fryes chocolate cream! I have been trying to get my hands on a raspberry one forever.

CrystalMaisie · 06/06/2020 13:28

@Vintagevixen, I bought the raspberry one from Poundland (just before lockdown).

VodselForDinner · 06/06/2020 13:33

I’d be so upset by that, OP.

Imagine the excitement of opening surprise chocolate, then realising it’s shitty Fry’s.

iklboo · 06/06/2020 13:38

Don't diss Fry's. I love them. Grin

jumblersale · 06/06/2020 13:38

I'll take the strawberry one please

Seventytwoseventythree · 06/06/2020 13:38

@Vintagevixen slightly off topic but they sell all the flavours including raspberry on amazon, I bought some recently. A 3 pack was about £2 I think.

UnitedRoad · 06/06/2020 13:44

I do feel a bit like that Vodsel.

I’ve tracked down the company. On amazon they’re selling them - Fry's Chocolate Cream Selection Featuring Strawberry Cream, and it’s fulfilled by Shanza Departmental’s. A bit of googling later, and I found that Shanza Limited are based at the same address as the newsagent in Glasgow. I feel a bit over-proud if myself like I should be in the police or something.

Theres a chance now my mum might have sent them. She knows I don’t like chocolate creams, but is the type to say she was just thinking of my waistline Sad

DH buys me a peppermint Fry's every Saturday. I had no idea they came in different flavours! What a lovely surprise. When the post sends you chocolate, make tea and scoff!

Vintagevixen · 06/06/2020 13:50

Ohhh right, thanks for the tips. Off to score me some raspberry Fry's 😋

ClientQ · 06/06/2020 13:53

Weird. I would have been halfway through the lot Grin they're SO good especially the orange

Guttersnipe · 06/06/2020 13:58

I am in my mid 50s and remember Frys Five bars with great affection. I had absolutely no idea it was possible to buy raspberry and strawberry creams. I didnt know they even existed. The orange and peppermint bars are rarities where I live. I am not one for spur of the moment purchases but I am so excited I have just gone straight to Amazon and ordered exactly what was delivered to you OP.

Binterested · 06/06/2020 14:01

This is the kind of mystery I am on MN for. But:

Wot No Fry’s Turkish Delight ?

RiftGibbon · 06/06/2020 14:04

I'll look after them for you!
I used to like the five center bars with pineapple, and,I think lime.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 06/06/2020 14:08

I think this is a stealth boast. Grin

TSSDNCOP · 06/06/2020 14:10

@Binterested you're welcome to all of those if you can fight my DM for them.

Thecazelets · 06/06/2020 14:11

Something similar happened to us with a catering box of 100 milk chocolate bars.

We were expecting a small non-interesting parcel which had been sent from a friend in a European country.

It turned out to be a case of human error and mixed up barcodes/labels by the courier service.

I'd rather have had the chocolate tbh but we were honest and arranged for it to be picked up!

BalloonSlayer · 06/06/2020 14:19

Mood wrecker here, they are not accidentally vegan, they definitely contain traces of milk or eggs, so don't eat if you are a strict vegan.
Allergic DC always reacts to them.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/06/2020 14:28

Send them to me, and I'll dispose of the evidence!

Howmuchlongercanthislast · 06/06/2020 14:33

Someone who should have gone to Poundland?
The pack of 3 bars are £1 each and piled sky high in Poundland this week.

Samtsirch · 06/06/2020 14:34

Sales of Fry’s chocolate bars will go through the roof after this thread !
I remember they were my mum’s favourite confectionery and whenever my dad was in the doghouse ( which was pretty much all of the time) he’d try to win her over with a bar 😂

Alexsay · 06/06/2020 15:09

Mmm, what a treat. Yes please!

iklboo · 06/06/2020 15:09

@Guttersnipe - I think they're fairly recent re-releases. I only used to see cream, peppermint & orange ones before.

Spied · 06/06/2020 15:17

Takes me back..
I love a Fry's chocolate cream.
Always bought them for my grandmother...
Not sure what she'd make of the hip raspberry and strawberry though.

SpeedofaSloth · 06/06/2020 15:19

Ooh, l love these.

Februarycat · 06/06/2020 15:23

Iceland have the Strawberry ones in, I got a pack the other day for £1
