I am sad and need the power of Mumsnet to help me find something I have lost.

I’ve looked everywhere, I’ve even paid the kids to look and they can’t find them either. I’ve lost my headphones. It is silly to be sad but they were a gift and I loved them-they fit my little ears lovely and doNt cause me pain when wearing them. They’re in a black square charging case and I can last visualise them in my bedroom as I had been wearing them to do my housework.
We have not long had workmen in but I’m 95% confident they haven’t taken them.
I have been known to have them fall out of my handbag in my car but I have checked and can’t see them (they normally belong in the zip pocket of my bag).
So I’m calling on the Mumsnet collective to see if anyone can help me find them.

Between mattress and headboard. That's where I find things. Or in the fridge. I tend to put most things in the fridge and often find the TV remote in there

CatsOfSummer · 04/06/2020 16:09

Could they be caught up in your duvet, or slipped down besides the mattress? Dressing gown pockets in our house end up often yielding small lost items!

HouseOfEdwards · 04/06/2020 16:10

Having just found my glasses in the pocket of a cardigan I swear I haven’t worn for months you have my sympathy.

Forget where you think you last saw them. Look in one room a day or whatever time frame you choose only. Don’t, while you are in that room think ‘actually they might be in the bags for life under the stairs’ and after than look in the bathroom cabinet. It’s this wild behaviour that stops you looking everywhere. You need to be systematic.

Have you got wooden, lino or stone floors? Things FLY across ours, they go really far so have a good search on the floor incase they've been kicked somewhere

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 04/06/2020 16:15

Have checked between mattress and headboard-they aren’t there. They can’t be in the kitchen as we’ve just ripped it out and fitted a new one (last week). It’s probably been about 6-8 weeks since I last saw them-I think a couple of weeks after the beginning of lockdown-I remember the kids moaning at me for singing Blush.
Not in dressing gown pockets-but thanks for the suggestion as I hadn’t checked there.

Will have to do the one room a day suggestion-but I do hope they turn up. I can’t afford to replace them at the moment.

In the laundry basket.
Kicked under the bed.
In the middle of a pile of ironing waiting to be done.
Between newspapers.
On top of some books on a high shelf.
Tucked behind the curtains on a windowsill.
Fallen in a plant pot.
In the fridge.

GeorginaEstonia · 04/06/2020 16:16

Where did you expect them to be? They’re probably there.

wonkytonkwoman · 04/06/2020 16:19

in the bin
sandwiched in a drawer somewhere

Bellyfullofbiscuits · 04/06/2020 16:23

Looked for mine for weeks. Searched down the side of the sofa, twice! Gave in , bought a new pair. Rummaged down the side if the sofa for something else and out they spewed, along with 6 pens, nail varnish, 1.90 and ton of other stuff! You need to really rummage hard, that's where they will be!

Mintjulia · 04/06/2020 16:23

When I lose things, they are normally wedged under the car seat or in the laundry basket.

What were your workmen doing? Did you tidy up after them? Did your headphones get included in the tidy-up accidentally?

Coolcatsandkittens · 04/06/2020 16:25

Coat pocket? I found my son’s watch in my coat pocket after we’d given up all hope of finding it!

I was thinking the same, they've been tidied away or accidentally thrown away. Or your children threw them out because your singing disturbed them Grin
Sparticle · 04/06/2020 16:28

My lost stuff is always usually in an old handbag, or sometimes in a coat pocket (outside or inside pockets).

IncrediblySadToo · 04/06/2020 16:30

Jacket /fleece (not coat) that you've worn to go for a walk, but didn't put in the wash?

When you go to bed sit quietly on the bed and tell the gremlins you really need then back now -enough enough! Please!!

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 04/06/2020 16:34

The workmen were moving the boiler, they didn’t need to go upstairs and I’m sure they were upstairs.
I’ve checked coat pockets, but will double check.

I do hope they haven’t accidentally been thrown away Sad

Under the furniture? Where do you normally put them and they might have fallen somewhere.

Windyatthebeach · 04/06/2020 16:37

Fallen into an open book? Just found a lost dvd in a book of dd's!!
What an excuse to have sat eating popcorn earlier!!

Flymetothetoon · 04/06/2020 16:39

Have you checked your handbag for a tear in the lining they could be hiding in there.

Nellydean21 · 04/06/2020 16:39

Fallen into an umbrella.

MiniMileyMoo · 04/06/2020 16:39

Near a plug somewhere ... Did you charge them up? Did someone else unplug them maybe?

Jellycat74 · 04/06/2020 16:40

I lost my headphones this week, they turned up in the passenger side car door.

Fanthorpe · 04/06/2020 16:41

Fallen into a shoe. In the dogs bed. A cat had taken them.

Fanthorpe · 04/06/2020 16:43

I ask for divine help when I’ve lost something. Just stand quietly and ask the house/universe/st Anthony to guide me. (I think the concentration focuses me) And I always say thank you.
