I am sad and need the power of Mumsnet to help me find something I have lost.

I’ve looked everywhere, I’ve even paid the kids to look and they can’t find them either. I’ve lost my headphones. It is silly to be sad but they were a gift and I loved them-they fit my little ears lovely and doNt cause me pain when wearing them. They’re in a black square charging case and I can last visualise them in my bedroom as I had been wearing them to do my housework.
We have not long had workmen in but I’m 95% confident they haven’t taken them.
I have been known to have them fall out of my handbag in my car but I have checked and can’t see them (they normally belong in the zip pocket of my bag).
So I’m calling on the Mumsnet collective to see if anyone can help me find them.

Think about things you haven't used in ages like because the weathers heated up or it's got lighter at nights or whatever and check in / around those

Eg thinking a waterproof coat or boots , a school pencil case, work bag, warm cardi, umbrella, etc

When I put my air pods down I say really loudly MY AIRPODS ARE ON THE SIDEBOARD ON THE JUG (For eg) I find this helps. I also have a special little pot on my dressing table for them. I make sure they are in it every night before bed x

Fallen behind a bedroom tv, or side table.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 05/06/2020 09:04

If you order a new pair the old ones will inevitably turn up and then I suppose you could return the new ones... bit of a faff though

Iamamadeupname · 05/06/2020 09:21

According to Dr Solomon most lost things turn up in the Eureka Zone.
They will be within 18 inches of where you would expect but will have slipped underneath something else.

Bluesheep8 · 05/06/2020 10:39

Under the sideboard op

I find this always to be the case and they will also be somewhere you've already looked, keep looking in the places you think are most likely.

If your children are anything like mine asking them to help will be of no use at all.

According to DP, everything turns up in the last place you look for it.

I have had words about him turning into his father. He now gets The Look. I am turning into my grandmother.

TerrorWig · 05/06/2020 11:05

The last thing I lost was a brand new note book I bought from paper chase. I was convinced I had accidentally thrown it away.

I found it in a completely separate bag from an online delivery that I was thinking about before returning. They’d obviously arrived together and I lobbed them all in together.

So - do you have any bags or parcels waiting to be returned?

LolaDarkdestroyer · 05/06/2020 11:10

I think they are in the bathroom or near the bathroom but do the Antony prayer thing not joking it's worked every time for me it's weird.

Samtsirch · 05/06/2020 11:19

What is the Antony prayer?

Housewife2010 · 05/06/2020 11:22

Can you look for something else? I often find then that I find something else that I was previously looking for.

Cattermole · 05/06/2020 11:23

Cardigan pockets....

Duh! Of course it does why would you keep on looking in more places once you've found it? Does he not understand looking Grin

diazapamdependent · 05/06/2020 11:49

When you find them (remaining optimistic!) you should invest in a tile device to keep track of it.

That's exactly why he says it.

And exactly why he gets The Look.

PleasantVille · 05/06/2020 12:26

@MitziK

I'm missing something obviously Grin or is he one of those annoying types who thinks stating the obvious is necessary? That would drive me mad too.

EngagedAgain · 05/06/2020 12:28

Think you have two options. Either search through every room in the house thoroughly, including the garage/shed and the kids rooms. Not because they have taken them, but you may have gone in their room while in the middle of cleaning yours, and they haven't noticed. Take your time. I've gone through rooms with no luck because I have rushed only to find on the second or third attempt, so waste more time in the long run. Or, simply forget about them. I find that usually works. I wouldn't buy new ones just yet, you may love them, but you won't if you buy new and use them and the others turn up. Unless you think it's a good idea to keep a spare pair.

Wolfiefan · 05/06/2020 12:31

They have eloped with my headband. I gave it to my daughter but she didn’t wear it. It is really pretty and colourful and I love it a bit. Sad? Me? So I took it back to keep it safe. Hollow laugh.
Now there’s a pandemic and my hair is bonkers and I can’t find it. Sob.
In a drawer.
Behind the bedside table.
Borrowed by a child. Buggers!
Fallen under the bed or sofa.
Good luck OP. Let me know if you find a beautiful green embroidered headband. Grin

Dear St Anthony please come round
Something's lost and can't be found.

TheHighestSardine · 05/06/2020 14:17

They don't have anything useful like Apple's "Find My..." for airpods, do they?

Or can you connect to them and play music loudly?

petrocellihouse · 05/06/2020 14:18

If they are in a black case, look in places with a black background. This might be camouflaging it, so actually feel around spaces, as well as just look. Worth a try!

Teaandscone · 05/06/2020 14:42

Well of course it does. You wouldn’t exactly find it and then g on looking...

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 06/06/2020 07:29

Well I pulled the house to bits yesterday and they haven’t turned up. I think I need Devine intervention now Halo
