I am sad and need the power of Mumsnet to help me find something I have lost.

I’ve looked everywhere, I’ve even paid the kids to look and they can’t find them either. I’ve lost my headphones. It is silly to be sad but they were a gift and I loved them-they fit my little ears lovely and doNt cause me pain when wearing them. They’re in a black square charging case and I can last visualise them in my bedroom as I had been wearing them to do my housework.
We have not long had workmen in but I’m 95% confident they haven’t taken them.
I have been known to have them fall out of my handbag in my car but I have checked and can’t see them (they normally belong in the zip pocket of my bag).
So I’m calling on the Mumsnet collective to see if anyone can help me find them.

In a reuseable shopping bag? I used my headphones to listen to podcasts while waiting when there were big queues for the supermarket at the beginning of lockdown if that's about when you lost them

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 04/06/2020 16:55

Handbag not lined-so no hidey holes.

Think I need to give my car another once over. Will check reusable bags too.

All the ideas that could be relevant I am checking so thank you all-it might seem a daft suggestion but at this stage I’m quite happy to have daft!

I've prayed to St Anthony before and found stuff that way. I think a previous poster was talking about where you expect them to be. Where is that? Have you looked all around and nearby in that area? Try that room first. Do you keep getting drawn to one area? They may well be there just hiding in plain sight if you get me. On a different shelf or under something or behind something/down the back of somewhere close to where they should have been?
I lost a voucher once (it was a pricey one!) and kept looking in the same place. Eventually finding it on the third try of looking in that place. It's sounds crazy because it is and I don't know why I missed it the first two times, I can only assume I didn't look well enough!
Good luck! I hope you find them!

AnastasiaBeverleyHills · 04/06/2020 16:56

Couch cushions (actually lift them and out your nands down the sides of the couch)

The part of the car seat between the gear box and the car seat. I've lost glasses here

Any clothing with pockets check them. Even if you don't remember wearing them

The fridge (yes I have done that when distracted!!!)

Any place you clear post or any other pieces of random household stuff to.

All drawers in your bedroom

Between the mattress and the bed frame

Behind any bedroom furniture

If you are religious pray to St. Anthony

Hope you find them

I recently found something under the mattress - no idea how it got there as we hadn’t flipped it recently (was looking under the bed and I could see it through the slats)

Have also found a watch in a pair of trainers in a gym bag

Car keys that were left on the stairs but accidentally bundled up with kids stuff and taken to their bedroom

Yesterday something went through the was (not electronic thankfully) that got wrapped up in a towel

All the above items were DH... I rarely lose anything!

IamEarthymama · 04/06/2020 17:06

Can you find mine too please?
I Have lost one of mine and all of DW’s, case and all.
I had CV19 when I saw them last and was in a daze
We are not minimalists here, they could be anywhere 😳
I think I need a huge set of headphones really!!

IamEarthymama · 04/06/2020 17:06

Oh and Good luck OP

JaggedHedge · 04/06/2020 17:08

If you've looked under a piece of furniture by moving it (e.g. bedside cupboard), tip it up as they could be caught and moving with it.

Merigoround · 04/06/2020 17:10

When we moved into our house we couldnt find the meter key to take readings. It was on the kitchen windowsill when we viewed the house . It was empty so everything was relatively quick moving. We were all familiar with what a meter key looked like and we hadnt actually moved much stuff in at the time we were looking. So there were empty cupboards /drawers etc.
We all searched high and low to no avail. So we gave up in the end as there was a lot to do.
A couple of days later putting some bowls into the kitchen cupboard we found the key sitting waiting patiently right at the front of the cupboard. Impossible to miss . Except 3 of us had separately.

OP I find things down by the side of the bed where Ive fallen asleep using them , they've fallen down and I forgot to look for them the next day.

Blueuggboots · 04/06/2020 17:17

In the tumble drier speaking from experience maybe?

TeenPlusTwenties · 04/06/2020 17:28

Coat or fleece or trousers pocket that hasn't been used for most of lockdown due to the hot weather.

Saucepanlid · 04/06/2020 18:02

Have you folded a pile of washing and accidentially put them between the towels or whatever .
I asked St Anthony to find my locker key .. it was in my bag where I'd already looked twice !

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 04/06/2020 18:14

Pray to ST Anthony, or turn a cup upside down. Or even better do both.

Failing that under the mattress , shake all the duvet sheets in case they got tangled in there, behind /under the furniture of the room most likely to be in. Oh and check shoes and slippers.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 04/06/2020 18:45

I will check shoes and slippers-I can see how they might end up in them.
Am going to pray to st Anthony just in case he’s willing to help me.

I keep finding things in the bin atm. I don't know why. Over the past week I have had to retrieve from the bin my sunglasses, ds3's hat, an almost full pouch of tobacco and my work ID (that last one really pissed me off as I had been getting the bloody thing as sterile as I could before I inexplicably decided to file it in the bin).

Inside clothes maybe? In a hood/ sleeve/ pocket?

Knittedfairies · 04/06/2020 18:50

If they're in a black case, they could be sitting on something black.

fairislecable · 04/06/2020 18:51

Apron pocket, with the dusters, in your knicker drawer or as I found in my knitting bag.

Good luck.

rainbowruthie · 04/06/2020 19:00

Behind a drawer?

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 04/06/2020 21:28

Checked a few more of the suggestions-still lost Sad
I’m having vague flashbacks about their whereabouts-all of them in my house. They’re definitely not in my fridge-I had a new one last week!

Yes try St Tony he’s never failed me

Tigerty · 04/06/2020 21:40

Make sure to check the kids bedroom. I’ve found stuff in there I’ve absentmindedly put down.

VitreousHumour · 04/06/2020 21:43

Look really hard under both ca seats
Is there a weird space for things like sunglasses and spare cds (or tapes in my case - car is 1987!)
Look in all the places you often tidy other bits and bobs into like bureau or kitchen crap drawer
Dirty linen
Garden - I found my glasses outside after a day of looking

diazapamdependent · 04/06/2020 21:44

I once found something similar inside a pillowcase. It has slipped in. Think it was a phone actually.

Apologies if already mentioned

doodlejump1980 · 04/06/2020 21:47

I found a pair of lost earrings in the bread bin once, hidden behind the jam!

Bubbletrouble43 · 04/06/2020 21:47

Do you have any teenagers? Check their rooms. Any technology related missing items ended up in my DDs room at that age. She would nick my charger / headphones etc when she couldn't be assed to look for hers 🙄
