Ok zombies, help me. I've burned myself to a drumstick lolly.

Hit me with your sunburn cure suggestions.

Grr Argh! Zombie anti dementor checking in.

Met a lovely like minded friend for a picnic today. Felt almost normal having a lovely chat about nothing much. Lovely to see lots of children running around too although obviously no play equipment open.

BakewellTarts · 02/06/2020 20:26

@SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito ouch looks painful. No magic cure. Do you have Aloe? I've used that before helps rehydrate the skin.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 02/06/2020 20:27

No aloe, sadly. Am currently putting on Aveeno every half hour or so.

I'm such a tit.

BarkandCheese · 02/06/2020 20:27

That sounds hugely frustrating. I really feel for all the small business owners, I’m personally doing my best to support all my local cafes, restaurants and takeaways by consuming as many of their products as possible as frequently as possible.

I have just spent all day Zoom/Team/Webexing I have had enough of video conferencing!

Bollss · 02/06/2020 20:28

Weird but I saw someone on FB recommend shaving foam for sun burn! No idea whether it works so please don't blame me if you try it and it goes horribly wrong Grin

BarkandCheese · 02/06/2020 20:29

SirSamuel ibuprofen helps to take the edge off if it’s painful.

Does natural yoghurt work too or have I made that up?

BakewellTarts · 02/06/2020 20:31

@Hollyhead love a good stat and thats a good one.

Dowser · 02/06/2020 20:34

We had a fabulous day today in the forest.
Was only there 10 days ago but there was 3 times as many people there, easily.
Sadly my dd and her crew were unable to make it as she was I’ll which was a huge shame ..and we would’ve been 11 , instead Of 7.
She thinks she’s trapped a Covid Inflamed nerve..obviously
Playgrounds still taped up 😡..ridiculous but you could still sit at picnic tables.
No masks and everyone good natured
I think I will move there till this madness is over..it’s just so normal.
Gave my grandson his 17 th birthday card with his voucher for driving lessons
He is so one happy bunny. He has a £1000 to spend, so if he passes his test and still has money left, ( after driving and theory tests, lessons and licence) he gets to keep what’s left.
If he doesn’t , well he works PT , so he will be able to afford to keep it up
He’s a bright lad, I think he will do it.

Next year there will be another one off the starting block.
All growing up too fast.

Dowser · 02/06/2020 20:35

Lavender oil is the best thing ever.
Slathered on neat, or with a tiny bit of carrier oil
Apply often
Wilkinsons cheapo stuff will do the trick and will prevent blistering and scarring
Hasn’t been sunny enough up here to even top up my tan

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 02/06/2020 20:36

Dowser that sounds lovely, so glad you had a good day. DH and I were saying on the drive home, apart from the cafe being closed (boo) and the car park being free (yay!) today actually felt normal. First time in a long time.

TheGreatWave · 02/06/2020 20:36

Welcome Hester

On a similar vein there was a report yesterday in my local paper about a small carpet business and the uncertainty around being able to open - he said he is losing business and money to the big boys whilst he is unable to get a straight answer from anyone ("Refer to the guidance.") and doesn't want to risk a fine. There needs to be clear guidelines - rather than like you and this guy saying everyone is giving different advice.

Dowser · 02/06/2020 20:37

I think I’d put a wet towel in the freezer before putting it on your back ( have two on the go) to get the core temp down of your back
Till you can get some lavender oil

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 02/06/2020 20:39

You all must have much better stocked cupboards than me! Grin I will go with painkillers and frequent moisturising for tonight and see what I can get in the shops tomorrow. Forecast heavy rain so I might just go stand naked in the garden GrinGrinGrin

Bollss · 02/06/2020 20:41

@dowser was it your grandson who was getting a test? Has he got his results yet? Hope he's ok Smile sorry If you've already said and I've missed it these threads move fast!

SockYarn · 02/06/2020 20:46

Hello fellow dementors. I am planning a trip out to B&Q tomorrow as I have an upcylcing project in mind.

I have acquired an old "brown furniture" chest of drawers which I'm going to upcycle to keep my craft stuff in. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but going bright wallpaper and chalk paint. Something very cheerful and fun.

Orangeblossom78 · 02/06/2020 20:48

Possibly cars should maintain social distancing now?

We have got new signs warning cars about "Pedestrians in the road"- meaning people jumping into the road to keep 2m

So it seems that is normal now

Might make some of them slow down a bit (hopefully) I guess! Confused

lljkk · 02/06/2020 21:01

There was a big Q of us homicidal sorts at the chippy today. Generally about 1.5 m apart. DH had a long chat with a farmer hoping for rain & tutting about furriners. Almost felt like normal times. :)

FOUR telecons I was in today, too.

What is "infection incidence" ?
I think I understand this to be saying that there are < 300 active cases in the whole of the East of England right now, popn = 6.235 million. That's one in 21,000 people....? Most of the 300 have symptoms so should be staying home. What are the chances I could meet any of them today, even if I tried my very hardest??

Someone explain where my math is wrong.

Cattermole · 02/06/2020 21:03

I feel a bit responsible for the beach zombies....
I also have sunburn as mother and I sat in the garden all Sunday afternoon, I was spinning and she was making the wool into balls. We tried knitting a bit up and it's beautiful: it's like raven feathers, all colours of black and grey.
Looking forward to the rain to be honest....

DominaShantotto · 02/06/2020 21:05

@SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito

No aloe, sadly. Am currently putting on Aveeno every half hour or so.

I'm such a tit.

Might work a bit to cool it if you keep the aveeno in the fridge so it's a nice cool fix going on.

We have the prats out back whooping with their awful dog yapping so it's going to be a frustrating night trying to sleep. My podcast backlog is clearing nicely though.

Kids so happy coming out of school and chatting away about their day - feel guilty having them in every day but they needed it and I figure it's consistent numbers in the bubble. Think they're up to about 16 keyworker kids with the big one's school - the numbers vary day to day so are going to have to look at bubbling them soon - at the moment they're just in the hall spaced out. Also managed to catch hold of the new school SENCO that DD2 will be moving up to so he knows I'm looking out for him to sort out her transition planning and he can't escape if I'm dropping off and picking up every day! I may have sharp elbows to make sure she's not forgotten about but she's my baby and with her being such a kind, eager to please and placid kid with SN - if I don't make sure schools know I'm ON it - she'll fall by the wayside!

They've spent so long outdoors today playing that the class teacher had a wonderful case of sunburn at hometime - and a case of earache after my small sort had told her how silly she was forgetting her suncream repeatedly!

littlbrowndog · 02/06/2020 21:05

It’s a burn. Frozen peas or frozen towels.

Disclaimer am not a trained person on burns. But I guess a burn is a burn

Nice da6 you had dowser 💃💃💃

DominaShantotto · 02/06/2020 21:06

Knitting black wool? Are you fecking mad?!

DominaShantotto · 02/06/2020 21:08

Oh yeah and bad news - it was on Sky Breaking twitter feed. Reviews of restrictions now 28 days between them and not 21 days.

They're never fecking gonna let us out properly.
