Someone on my FB has just posted this. Proof that anyone can pull graphs out of their arse and have them widely shared.

Fab news for Wales! And sensible to extend summer term too.

Allflightscancelled · 03/06/2020 12:43

I was in the One Stop buying our neighbour's newspaper earlier. The old lady in front of me apologised to the assistant for paying in cash rather than contactless but, she said "I have disinfected the money".

Bonkers.

BarkandCheese · 03/06/2020 12:44

@Drivingdownthe101

My mum works at the drs surgery and apparently the vast majority of care home and community deaths in our area are being recorded as Covid even when there have been no symptoms and a negative test.
So many parents are reporting this is happening now that it must be really widespread. So the number of recorded covid deaths is probably a fair bit lower than the official figures, and the official figures are what’s keeping the lockdown going on and on. Great.

🤣

I've just come back from a murdershop in HBs (buying biscuits and bananas for mum) and the number of dicks in masks was phenomenal. The one that got properly on my tits was granny and toddler, she fully masked up and gloved, putting a mask on the little 'un...who then merrily trotted round the shop picking things up and putting them back on the shelves.
Humph.

What does that graph even mean? No scales on either axis, no explanation of any sort. It is completely meaningless

Yea - they will at least get some time in school - now have to wait to hear from the schools to see how they'll work it.

BarkandCheese · 03/06/2020 12:45

That should be people not parents ffs. When is this site going to join the twentieth century and gift us a preview function?

Cattermole · 03/06/2020 12:47

Here @Dowser how's your boy? - how's he feeling in himself, I mean?

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 03/06/2020 12:55

Dementor city now in local welsh fb. I'm having great fun trolling 😂😂

SockYarn · 03/06/2020 12:57

the number of dicks in masks was phenomenal

I bumped into my neighbour (not literally, obviously) in the Co-Op earlier, she was wearing a mask. I said hello, she pulled down the mask to have a chat. Hmm

Dowser · 03/06/2020 12:58

No idea..he’s not got in touch yet, so won’t pester him.
Your boy...lol
We were encoding to walk along a narrow lig at the forest yesterday, that his boy skipped along like a mountain goat

Mam, he shouted, I’m nearly 40 you know
I said, yes but that’s not till next year, at the moment you’re still only 38 , so get along that log..😂

Oh the joys of having fun with family

Bollss · 03/06/2020 12:59

Yay for Welsh children!

My biggest hope now is for "normal" full time school in September.

Dowser · 03/06/2020 12:59

Omg
We were encouraging him to walk along a log
I do have a preview function
I need to use it

Cattermole · 03/06/2020 13:03

Hell I'm nearly 50 and DM still calls me "her girl".... I don't reckon we're ever old till there's no one left who remembers us as children.

Dowser · 03/06/2020 13:04

And on a sour note
My lovely russian osteopath who has a clinic in the BITACORA Hotel in playa dE las americas, Tenerife
Has just told me, that when it reopens after its refit soon, there is no place for him.

So, he will have no work.
He’s been working there 10 years.

Such a lovely man, what an awful thing they have done to him.

I said, they’ll be begging for guests. No one will be able to afford their high prices and most wont feel safe enough to get on a plane, even if allowed.

justasking111 · 03/06/2020 13:06

Welsh education news amazing. But DIL who was adamant that hers were going back asap is having a wobble and thinks keeping them home may be best until September. Praying here that a few rainy days may concentrate her mind. The kids really need to get back to normal.

Dowser · 03/06/2020 13:07

Cattermole...apart from a couple of cousins, there’s no one of the previous generation left.
Oh, this gloomy weather 😡😡😡
Not good for my mh

Cattermole · 03/06/2020 13:12

@Dowser there you go - cousins. You're still a young stripling!
(I can't wait for it to start bloody raining here. It's neither Arthur nor Martha and it's giving me the pip.)

AnxiousElephant77 · 03/06/2020 13:12

I've just had a gas engineer round. He cheerfully told me that the 'economy isn't going to collapse', and 'this is it I think until there's a vaccine.'

I really had to hold my tongue lest I get into a massive argument with him.

enjoyingSun · 03/06/2020 13:13

But DIL who was adamant that hers were going back asap is having a wobble and thinks keeping them home may be best until September.

It's another few weeks - track and trace will apparently have been working for a month by then and by looks of things it will be staggered starts and not everyone at once - so I think they'll be managing the small risk.

My Y10 is worried it won't be actual teaching as last few days they didn't really do anything much with them but told them to get on with anything they already had while craming them into smaller and smaller rooms- but I'm hoping they'll do something - some of her GCSE teacher have set nothing at all.

DominaShantotto · 03/06/2020 13:14

Welsh news is brilliant - especially the sensible extending the term and giving the missed week holiday later... teaching unions are already kicking off over it though.

What's scared me, and I assume inevitably England is going to follow suit at some point is the "online learning" part of September. That's it, game over for me and uni if that happens cos DH will be shit if I left him to enforce that for the kids and I can't sell the kids short - my conscience would never live with me for that - but DH, the one time I asked him to help DD1 with some online work - he sat and fell asleep next to her.

justasking111 · 03/06/2020 13:19

Oh dear other DIL is not going to be sending her kids back so I daresay other parents will say the same. That means social distancing will be easier for others I suppose.

OH said a dementor thing just now "Well if they go to school we cannot see them anymore" gggrrrr....

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 03/06/2020 13:20

I’m scared to tell dd the news. Going to wait until I get confirmation of her place. If there’s a place I’ll jump at it. I feel insanely excited! So happy but scared to believe it’s true. A cautious happy cry for all welsh parents with school aged children!
