Shit! Is there anything I can do? Screwed up Tesco delivery.

My fault...I accidentally sent my (£200) Tesco delivery to our old address.

It’s registering as “delivered”. My son has run around there to see if they’ve taken it all in.

If they have and choose to keep it, what if anything can I do? Tesco customer service is closed at this time of night.

Can’t believe this has happened. We have very little money for more food 😥 I am such a fucking idiot.

Well for anybody unsure, the residents at the former property are not entitled to keep the items.

The name on the order wasn't theirs, it technically constitutes theft by finding to keep the items and they are obligated to return them if asked.

So hopefully OP has set the ball rolling by asking them (properly) and contacting Tesco, so this can be resolved ASAP.

Footywife · 02/06/2020 13:45

@Namechangeapril20 Very well said. Thank goodness for some sense :-)

CodenameVillanelle · 02/06/2020 13:50

Isn't it obvious what happened? The other family refused delivery, Tesco system updated with delivered, the OP spoke to Tesco this morning and was too embarrassed to come back to the thread because she had been ridiculous and accusatory not to mention sending her son round after 11pm

No mystery

toomanyplants · 02/06/2020 13:58

Intrigued as to how this ended up, if it was one of my teenagers that took it in, half of it would already be eaten!

NoseHair · 02/06/2020 14:02

I think OP blew it with the £200 on 80 items aspect.

Tootytata · 02/06/2020 14:05

Still no update? I've checked a few times this morning hoping to see what happened in the end! I guess we aren't going to get an update.

Tootytata · 02/06/2020 14:06

Not sure why I am so invested! Blush

@NoseHair I spend that amount weekly from Tesco and there are only two of us.

safariboot · 02/06/2020 14:14

Any news?

I can absolutely believe a dishonest person would take the shopping. 3 decades ago DM had a removal company take her stuff from storage to her new flat - except the removal company mistakenly took it to her OLD flat. The new resident there took the lot! Everything from furniture to books to baby photos. Police fobbed DM off, claiming it was a "civil matter" not a crime Shock. Save for a few books that were found in a local second-hand shop, DM never got either her property or a penny in compensation.

feathermucker · 02/06/2020 14:19

No reply from OP then?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/06/2020 14:22

That is shocking, @safariboot - your poor mum!

@PinkMeringue - I hope you got things sorted today.

greenlynx · 02/06/2020 14:33

I think OP was just busy with sorting this out in the morning and then went straight to work so hasn’t got time to update.

AlpineSnow · 02/06/2020 14:39

Definitely @CodenameVillanelle Although if she does come back i think we'll be told a different story!

NoseHair · 02/06/2020 14:59

@Dunking

With the 80 item limit? What are you buying Shock I’m hard pushed to get it over £100 on 80 items.

Jingstohang · 02/06/2020 15:11

It's pretty easy if you're buying booze or stocking up. Or just clever about how you order.

Dunking · 02/06/2020 15:21

@NoseHair
I just buy anything I can in bulk. Massive bottle of oil when I would only usually buy a little bottle, boxed wine over bottles, crates of pepsi over a bottle, box of crisps over a packet, 1L refills over smaller bottles.

We also eat good quality meat, so 2 steaks can be £18. In the weeks when I don't need much I'll buy spices and other smaller stuff.

Tbh before all this I didn't have any food or extra house hold items stored as I brought food daily or ate out. So I've been buying the odd items to store for a rainy day.

Sertchgi123 · 02/06/2020 15:26

You can spend £200 quite easily on 80 items at Tesco.

Dunking · 02/06/2020 15:26

Managed just over for my shopping this week

Shit! Is there anything I can do? Screwed up Tesco delivery.
PickwickThePlockingDodo · 02/06/2020 15:55

I think OP blew it with the £200 on 80 items aspect

It's 85 items now and as others have said, I think it's quite easy. Pet food, booze, meat, vegetarian items all add up.

IntermittentParps · 02/06/2020 15:57

I think OP blew it with the £200 on 80 items aspect

So judgemental. And not realistic. Stuff does cost money, you know! Or should the OP be buying only muddy potatoes and 12p beans?

atilathehut · 02/06/2020 16:03

My 80 items always comes to over 200 quid - maybe I have too much alcohol

LycraLovingLass · 02/06/2020 16:05

I need some of these disbelieving posters to do my shopping for me!

Kitcat47 · 02/06/2020 16:06

Did she get her shopping???
