Sweet Valley High

I have just discovered that most of the Sweet Valley High series are available on Kindle Unlimited and that I can get a two month free trial.

Anybody like to join me on a (socially distanced) journey back through life with Elizabeth, Jessica, Todd, et al?

Yes they did. I may have also just discovered that there a loads of episodes of it available to watch on YouTube!

The books you get on the free trial, do you get to keep them when you cancel when the free trial is over??

@Shabbynat you borrow them in much the same way that you would with library books and then return them again once you have read them so no I can't see a way you would be able to keep them.

Randomly I started reading them a couple of days ago, I thought I was a bit weird reading books for teenagers in my 30s,glad it's not just me Grin it's annoying me a bit that the first few are missing, I'm irrationally angry about it Blush

Loved the series and how over the top everything was..the perfect twins!

Jessica had bad luck with boyfriends. A fair few died!

Some of the books are half decent..others..the guy who was a vampire ones..the guy who wore a werewolf mask etc less so

Used to love reading SWH and SWU too! I had no idea Jessica and Todd get married. Does anyone know how the last book ever ends? ( I know I could google this but wanted to hear others opinion)

@Geometricprince I am also irrationally angry about the first ones being missing. Also the "specials" are missing and one or two random ones throughout. It's enough to keep me going for a little while though. Interesting that you are much the same age as me - clearly these were the teenage books of our generation!

@LetsGoFlyAKiteee I remember the werewolves and the vampires. I think they were the later ones. All the ones after around number 110 started to get a bit surreal I think and they were all mini-series whereas the earlier ones were more standalone stories.

@Bottomplasters I think I found it by searching on my Kindle for a book that was available on Unlimited and then it offered me the trial. I have Prime so the two may be related and it usually costs £7.99 a month so I probably won't continue it if I am unfurloughed by the time the 2 months is up but it is giving me something to occupy my brain for the moment.

@Nowifi you are absolutely right. Jess was the troublemaker and Elizabeth was the angel.

I used to save up for the Sweet valley twins books as a kid, then progressed to Swh and Swu a bit. I read one around 5 years ago and felt slightly embarrassed, but it was actually pretty good! 😂
Jessica was the wild one and Elizabeth the bookworm.

I loved these as a kid/tween! And Sweet Valley University and the one before, SV Middle School or whatever it was called. Don't think I could read them without eye rolling/cringing now though!

I'm just re-reading number 14 now which is the earliest one I could find on Kindle. It is cringy but also a pleasing escape from reality at the moment. I didn't realise as a teenager just how bad the writing is!
