In my case - a pet urn. A full one.

@Thisisreallyveryouting it's nigh on impossible to find a glow in the dark Jesus... Searched for one for years for a bet. GiTD Mary's are ten a penny, but Jesus, he's hard to find 😂

MrsT1405 · 01/06/2020 16:41

A box of blown bird eggs packed in cotton wool in the loft.

pinkglove75318 · 01/06/2020 16:43

A cat. With a note telling us it's name, and thanking us for having her 🙄

LadyFeliciaMontague · 01/06/2020 17:17

@pinkglove75318 Shock
Did you keep her?

Bargainhuntbore · 01/06/2020 17:49

2 pairs of shoes in the inglenook fireplace. They must never be removed as they belong in the home. They belong to kids who lived here and have passed away.

Vicbarbarkley · 01/06/2020 18:02

We found (modern) womens clothing in the built in cupboards, womens shoes and womens toiletries in the bathroom cabinets.
In the kitchen drawers we found tamoxifen, painkillers, appointment cards for oncology.

He obviously just could not remove his wife from her home.

Three years later, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The people who bought the house when we moved were a young couple. She went 9 to be diagnosed with bc when pregnant. Their little girl was only three when mum died.

Sad.
We bought from a man and his daughter

Vicbarbarkley · 01/06/2020 18:04

Sorry, that last line should have been removed. I DO wish we had an edit button!

A dead bat in the kitchen drawer on top of a piece of paper with "A Gift" written on it.
Previous owner was dead, house had been empty for ages, bat was still intact.

Ducksarenotmyfriends · 01/06/2020 18:09

A death certificate and the inside of the fridge covered in blood.

Dollywilde · 01/06/2020 18:13

When we bought our flat (had been previously rented but standing empty for 6 months) we discovered the previous tenants had left a washing machine, which was still full of water and clothes Confused Envy

bellsbuss · 01/06/2020 18:13

A deflated blow up doll on the top shelve of the fitted wardrobe in the dressing room.

bellsbuss · 01/06/2020 18:13

Shelf

LakeTittyHaHa · 01/06/2020 18:13

A pair of toddlers knickers in the middle of the patio

A tray of chicken nuggets shaped like teddies left in the oven

A full box of framed wedding prints, wedding album, wedding dress and other wedding related stuff in the loft- it had all been drawn on with marker pen and the wedding dress ripped up. The couple we bought the house from we’re getting divorced and it wasn’t pleasant

RoLaren · 01/06/2020 18:17

An antique possing stick. Anyone know (without googling) what that is?

AdoptedBumpkin · 01/06/2020 18:21

Toenail clippings behind where the couch had been 🤢

A letter stating that due to unpaid fees the sperm deposit was going to be destroyed.

A built in safe, but it was empty.

AlovelybitofsquirrelJackie · 01/06/2020 18:49

@RoLaren it's what you use to bash your washing about in a poss tub. Google free zone I promise I just spent a lot of time as a child around amazing, feisty elderly female relatives who were never happy that their Monday lot was doing the wash in the poss tub and putting it through the mangle then ironing with a coal or hit water heated iron once dry (either on the clothes horse by the fire or on the line in the back lane). I think that's why they all had a penchant for synthetic dresses and nylon slacks in later life!

theluckiest · 01/06/2020 19:11

Cleaning the kitchen, I noticed the previous owner had left a drawer with a generous scattering of long, thin, curved grains, a curious sort of greyish white colour. Yes, they were fingernail clippings

In the bedroom was a small bedside cabinet with a drawer.
The drawer was 2 INCHES DEEP with clippings. Absolutely disgusting. Shock

I love the gardening story!

A hand grenade, discovered in the cupboard under the stairs when my father bought his recently-deceased grandfather's house in the early eighties. Ended up in a museum, as did the unexploded bomb he found in the front garden.

janj2301 · 01/06/2020 19:40

TyroSaysMeow Similar with my Grandad, the house clearance people found unregistered firearms, unexploded ordnance, called the police and army (early 80s). They also sold off the contents of a huge coal bunker but took the money off my mum's bill

SunshineCake · 01/06/2020 19:42

A bag of white powder in the loo cistern.

covetingthepreciousthings · 01/06/2020 19:55

A death certificate and the inside of the fridge covered in blood.

Shock why was the inside of the fridge covered in blood?

Juiceey · 01/06/2020 20:20

I love this thread! Especially the gardening story.

Jannahanon · 01/06/2020 20:31

In my first rented property loft was full of various belongings from previous tenants as well as leftover paint and DIY stuff. I left it all untouched and got a fine taken off my deposit when I left for belongings left behind.
In next rented flat loads of stuff left behind, I got permission from estate agent to dispose of the junk and sold useful stuff online.
