In my case - a pet urn. A full one.

We found bags and bags of hedge clippings in the loft - why would you go to the effort of carrying them upstairs and up a ladder?!

I'm our current house the electricians we're wiring in new smoke alarms and came across a pile of stuff from the old owners in the loft. Alongside all their children's school reports - loads of them! There was a bag of (unopened) Ann Summers items and 'saucy' outfits. I gave the builders the bag of bits and they used them as props on a stag do. I returned the school reports via post and wondered if they ever remembered the bag!!

A pair of crusty black knickers. All of their photos of fun times - most of them framed.

*There are chests in our loft - still there. My DH said they are locked - and I have never been up there!

We should probably me more interested/worried*

Please open them!!!

When we bought our house it was a probate - non of the relatives cleared the house out, old tea bags on the side, pots in the sink, all the furniture, cutlery and crochery even the old gentleman's dressing gown. We ended up putting all our things in the garage till we could clear the house out. 5 skips, selling what we could and many charity shop trips later we could finally unpack!

Lots of Monopoly houses, the little red ones. Everywhere.

They also forwarded our names to their electricity supplier, but the meter serial numbers weren't a match and it turned out they had been paying the bill for another house for 17 years. Naturally I refused to take on that sort of responsibility.

TooMinty · 31/05/2020 00:07

Nicest thing was really detailed instructions for everything (shower, boiler etc.) including their phone number and local contacts x

PILs moved into a very naice suburban bungalow to find a pistol on the loft wrapped up in a pair of “lacy panties “. Went to the police at the next amnesty

An ugly built in wardrobe..started to rip it out and as it was wallpapered inside, this came off to reveal hardcore lesbian porn pics cut from a German 70's magazine !!

Weenurse · 31/05/2020 00:40

Roll of wall paper in a house with no wall paper.

Weenurse · 31/05/2020 00:41

And a pool table, they did not want to move it as too heavy. We haven’t moved it either

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 31/05/2020 00:51

Loads of hooks and mirrors. A terrifying plate depicting a golden retriever surrounded by a wreath of dried flowers. Wallpaper that had been nailed up. There really are no words for the arse that we bought.

Itsmybirthday19 · 31/05/2020 00:58

A taxidermy bird nailed to a tree and a hotel style hairdryer (the beige, wired in variety with the big corrugated hose)

SamsMumsCateracts · 31/05/2020 01:12

A collection of porn mags hidden in the old water tank in the loft.

BippityBoppity87 · 31/05/2020 01:25

Not my house, but my DP’s parents house they bought a few years ago, renovating the place before they moved in. One of the bedrooms had a small inbuilt cupboard. Loads of writing in pencil. I remember reading the writings and it gave me the heeby jeebies. Can’t remeber the specifics, but it was quite creepy. They’ve since painted over it

Dinosauraddict · 31/05/2020 01:28

A beautiful original framed oil painting of a lady in the loft. It clearly didn't belong to the previous owners who had very different tastes, and the date is from the 1950s. I like to think the lady in it watched over the house. It is now hung above the fireplace in the spare bedroom. Smile

ladybird69 · 31/05/2020 01:28

A bricked up corridor in a listed building stacked full of men’s lady clothes and shoes and magazines.

FurrySlipperBoots · 31/05/2020 01:30

Not in a house we'd just bought, but what the pet sitter left after 'looking after' our dog for a week. A box of Barbie cake decorations. She'd come from several counties away and knew nobody in Cornwall so I don't suppose she was baking for anyone else, and she herself was in her 40s. The dog was as round as a bloody football when we got home to her...

Maria53 · 31/05/2020 01:32

A hilarious note to a past lover. I will come back with the note if I find it.

WeAllHaveWings · 31/05/2020 01:35

Hidden VHS tape with homemade porn 🤮

FurrySlipperBoots · 31/05/2020 01:36

@isthismylifenow

God that's terrible! Did you just walk in and find the poor things there? What happened to them?

FurrySlipperBoots · 31/05/2020 01:40

@NiceTwin

WTF is up with these dickheads just leaving their animals?! What happened with the cat?

Dislocatedeyeballs · 31/05/2020 02:00

Fleas in one house
Hundreds and hundreds of cans and bottles of alcohol hidden everywhere including behind the bath panel
DVD of photoshopped porn including 1 with a horse
Set of mini scales (of the type used to weigh drugs) hidden in the wall behind the shower

Pieceofpurplesky · 31/05/2020 02:02

Everything. The previous owners left everything including food in the fridge and freezer, toiletries and washing up!

Furloughedpissedoff · 31/05/2020 02:22

Approximately 10 bin bags of 2 litre plastic bottles in the loft. House was rented before I bought it, and the previous tenants liked to make there own beer, according to my neighbour.
