In my case - a pet urn. A full one.

They left behind their two dogs, a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Jack Russell. And a cupboard full of porn magazines.

Littleshortcake · 30/05/2020 21:07

There was a random photo in a box of old things of the owner on her wedding night in fancy lingerie and her veil
We never met the owner as we bought it after she moved abroad.

Bipbopbee · 30/05/2020 21:07

A raging flea infestation.

A few days after moving in we were ankle deep in the vile things and covered in bites.

Previous owner had four large dogs, three cats and two giant house rabbits, and clearly didn’t believe in flea control.

Haworthia · 30/05/2020 21:08

Chronic rat infestation in the loft.

GreyGardens88 · 30/05/2020 21:18

A cupbaord full of debt collection letters and mens Below the belt Fresh and Dry ball cream

maddiemookins16mum · 30/05/2020 21:18

A dried up wedding bouquet complete with faded ribbon wrapped in faded tissue. It really moved me as the lady we purchased from had gone into a home with dementia. She had no children and 77, so possibly hers.

pinkazing · 30/05/2020 21:18

Viagra in the kitchen.

Seaweed42 · 30/05/2020 21:24

A decades worth of discarded sanitary towel backings piled to the ceiling behind a wardrobe.

CatBatCat · 30/05/2020 21:31

Bra stuck down the back of the kitchen radiator. We didn't find it for months Blush

A micro SD card containing naked selfies from the previous tenant. A taxi driver who picked me up once said his brother used to live here with his girlfriend and child, the girlfriend kicked the boyfriend out and moved her new girlfriend in. Very bad break up.
I have mutual friends on social media with the previous tenant (still get her post). Never met her but seen more of her than I'd ever want to!

exerciseinmypyjamas · 30/05/2020 21:38

A selection of really hardcore pornography magazines. At least 100 of the things still in the cellophane. And a central hearing boiler that had been damaged beyond repair.

It was January 3rd and flipping freezing. The keys had been ours for at least 4 weeks, so I was less than impressed with DH. My 21year old brother and his mates were delighted with the magazines though.

confusednortherner · 30/05/2020 21:45

A shed full of coat hangers, tennis and badminton raquets and the previous owners sat drinking tea! They eventually left at 8 pm and their cats wandered in 1/2hr later! They returned at 10:30pm to collect them 😂

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 30/05/2020 21:47

One house had 2 car doors, a car bonnet in a different colour and 8 car wheels with tyres. The strange thing was they were in the attic!
Another house had a neat row of used tampons laid out on the shelf in the airing cupboard Envy

LynetteScavo · 30/05/2020 21:49

A valentines card from husband to wife, never opened. It was top of the kitchen cupboard. The house was sold when they divorced.

ToastyFingers · 30/05/2020 22:18

@Spied those are my parents' names (although theyre pretty common names tbf) are you in Wales by any chance?

RiverCrossing · 30/05/2020 22:35

A significant amount of cannabis, hidden in the boiler cupboard. An electrician found it and told my uni housemates and I that he would ‘get rid of it’ for us. Helpful Grin

toffeeghirl · 30/05/2020 22:41

In the loft: cheap figurines (remember the old men and woman sets popular in the 70s) minus their heads; several Christmas and birthday cards; a couple of creepy teddy bears; old telephone directories. The strangest was a heavy office filing cabinet. No idea how it got up there and didn't ever find out what was inside. I was terrified of that loft and made others go up there. Only ever stored the xmas tree and decorations in there.

EndothermicHands · 30/05/2020 22:45

A small mountain of dead hearing aid batteries. Geez, thanks!

OhTheRoses · 30/05/2020 22:50

When we viewed the house, it was a probate sale, there were lots of pics of three DC. Inside the airing cupboard the DC's heights had been measured every birthday. One stopped growing aged 8. I cried. The owners fostered children for decades after that and were onown as the charity couple.

Flynn999 · 30/05/2020 22:52

A bong in the shape of a penis, and a normal shaped bong. Also lots of half drunk bottles spirits.

DC1JackieReid · 30/05/2020 23:21

A wheelie bin filled with weird lampshades in red with tassels and a brand new mop. It was brand new because cleaning flooring wasn’t in their remit. Surfaces and kitchen spotless, carpets and wood flooring filthy. And a set of keys that don’t fit anything in the house.

IJustWantToWearDungarees · 30/05/2020 23:25

An antique brass ale dipstick.

jackstini · 30/05/2020 23:28

My Auntie's house - a size 14 trainer on the stairs up to the attic. Just the one...

DustyMaiden · 30/05/2020 23:29

Dishes in the sink and a dog in the bathroom. They came back for the dog 24 hrs later. Apparently they had been busy moving.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 30/05/2020 23:32

Going to drop this in, then read thread....

Our current house was really, properly filthy when we moved in.

Cleaning the kitchen, I noticed the previous owner had left a drawer with a generous scattering of rice in the bottom. Rice with long, thin, curved grains, a curious sort of greyish white colour.

Yes, they were fingernail clippings.
