And in a civilised world with sanitation and plumbing people are seriously considering she-wees, pissing in buckets and gardens to avoid breaking some fucking rules? Seriously what the hell have we come to? Are we going to start to fling our crap out of the windows Horrible Histories style next?

youngerself · 29/05/2020 15:02

Found somewhere that sells vino with benches to sit outside in the sun and look at the view. It was bliss
This morning a good walk, a Tesco trip for ice lollies and now a picnic by a lake in the sun
And I've a smidgen of hope about Greece holiday in July

Fucking ridiculous isn’t it? The fact that people are doing this rather than just use their common sense, use the toilet and be careful what they touch, makes me despair of humankind.
Orangeblossom78 · 29/05/2020 15:10

And people have been pulling out their own teeth as no dentists

enjoyingSun · 29/05/2020 15:16

I think England get denstist back from Monday.

I'm suprised to learn they weren't apparently shut down in other countries.

I really wish they were coming back in Wales - DD1 has a brace that was due to be seen right before lockdown and DD2 needs to be mointored as there may be devloping issues.

Weedsnseeds1 · 29/05/2020 15:17

Domina grit your teeth and put out some feelers. There will be people out there happy to bend the rules a bit.
If you live anywhere near me, you can come and sit in my garden.
I don't have kids, but do have an outdoor toilet 😁
Actually next door have kids and we are all members of the underground resistance here ( Except fence woman).

highmarkingsnowbile · 29/05/2020 15:18

Exactly, Domina!! WTAF. Just wash your bloody hands after using the lav! Is it that hard? And the number of people whom I used to think had brains who are actually buying into this shit, literally. WTAF. What happened to using your common sense?

Springersrock · 29/05/2020 15:19

Domina Flowers

It’s utter madness really.

If we do have friends over and they need the loo, there’s no way they’re using a shee-wee in my bushes. They can use the fucking bathroom. Although, we have an outside loo so I guess they can take their chances with the spiders and daddy long legs.

A friend has been desperate for dental treatment for her daughter - the kid is 8 and couldn’t sleep as she had tooth ache FFS. She had to literally cry on the phone to 111 to get an emergency referral for her.

Drivingdownthe101 · 29/05/2020 15:23

If Covid was so contagious that we could catch it off a fucking toilet seat, surely more than 7% of the population would have had it by now?

Orangeblossom78 · 29/05/2020 15:26

I kind of thought people were joking about the she sees, was it for real? Confused

enjoyingSun · 29/05/2020 15:29

I read a document -that was linked to alot on here about how covid 19 was spreading - indoors mainly - it had the toilet issues was flushing with the lid up as it sprays matter around in the air which can be breathed in.

So basily waiting a few moments for things to settle or putting lid down and good hygine was enough to stop spread.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 29/05/2020 15:30

Hi! I put this graph on another thread but as its anti dementory I thought I'd share it here too.
This is the level of new infections proportionate to the amount of tests carried out.

We're all going on a summer holiday
Dowser · 29/05/2020 15:37

I thought I must live near you weeds, as there’s a few members of the resistance here but no one has an outside loo
The friend I spoke to was aghast at the people converging on their beauty spots and seeing into bottles to leave for others to find.
Open the loos then
Job done.

Shodan · 29/05/2020 15:50

Maybe not everyone has been licking the loo seat/walls/floor Grin

I've certainly cut way down on doing that Halo

It reminds me of that old rumour that circulated when I was young- that you could STDs from the loos at Victoria Station. (It was always Victoria too, no other stations)

DominaShantotto · 29/05/2020 15:52

Both places now confirmed in the key worker and vulnerable bubble thank fuck - would have absolutely destroyed DD2 in particular if she knew she wasn't going back all of a sudden. Poor caretaker - who's been sent out with a metre stick painting social distancing lines everywhere (think he would have been painting social distancing lines on the social distancing lines if they could have made him) for nothing!

I fear for other kids suffering as much as DD2 has been - who haven't had a parent with the ability to navigate through mazes of bullcrap, with the steel streak cultivated from having a child with SEN, knowing exactly what phrases to drop into conversation to make sure people listen and having a fuckload of goodwill with the actual class teachers so they advocated for us as well - who will be struggling along at home until bloody September now (5 months and a bit) without anything to alleviate it for them. Cos I've had to be tenacious as fuck to get school to listen to me that DD was suffering and really struggling and lots of parents would have given up at the first or second refusal. I just happened to have learnt the relevant bits of the guidance by heart to quote at them!

Drivingdownthe101 · 29/05/2020 15:55

I’ve confirmed that DD1 is starting back next week (year 1). School have sent pictures of the classrooms and while they look pretty soulless they’ve managed not to plaster red tape over everything, and just remove the stuff they can’t play with.

ExpletiveDelighted · 29/05/2020 15:59

Good for you Domina. One of mine has an EHCP so I'm used to that sort of thing too, however he has taken pretty well to homeschooling so we haven't needed to engage this time. Pretty gutted about it all though, he's in year 11 and should have had so much fun stuff to look forward to post GCSE, now there's nothing.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 29/05/2020 15:59

The councils know the result of closing public loos is that people just go where they can. They’ve been doing it as a result of public loo closures in wales due to budget cuts so hardly a surprise. I also don’t understand why people are surprised nice things to do are busy. We’ve all been locked away, hardly anything is open and the things that are you have to queue so of course we’re all going to head for the beauty spots. It’ll be the same in Wales. The best way to keep me near home is to reopen the schools. Without them I’m going to start treating it as a holiday. I’m fed up of being told I need to make sacrifices. My dd will miss half a year of school, my mum is missing some treatment she needs, I’m depressed and am missing friends. Yes, not huge sacrifices compared to dying but when you multiply it out, add in the economic cost, the job losses, lives lost due to other preventable conditions, lack of safeguarding and education, stunted social development I think we’ve all sacrificed a great deal and we need to start the engines up again. Adults be sensible with distance, all scrub our hands and try to keep the vulnerable safe but get back to living again. Heaven forbid there’s a proper pandemic with a 20% death rate of young people. We’ll have nothing left for the next crisis... and there’s always another one

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 29/05/2020 16:00

Sorry about the lack of paragraphs. That was a proper rant! I want a glass of wine with a view. That sounds perfect! Have a long sip for me

rosettesforjill · 29/05/2020 16:01

@Drivingdownthe101 I cried when I got the pictures of DS's classroom, I'm ashamed to admit Blush

His favourite things are the book corner and role play and they've gone. Just single desks now. He will be fine - I think he'll see it as a bit of an adventure - but I feel so sad for what he's missing out on in his last weeks of reception Sad

BogRollBOGOF · 29/05/2020 16:02

Apparently the next school to ours has a staff member with a confirmed case...

My brain jumps to, "I wonder what their household do for a living" rather than panic. I'd also be curious to know when they've been in school.

Drivingdownthe101 · 29/05/2020 16:04

I think it will be slightly easier for my reception DD2 (not going back until the 15th) as her classroom is currently being extended so when she goes back it will be into a different classroom. So she won’t have to see her usual space looking different, if you see what I mean?
It is sad though. I feel far worse for my reception child than my year 1. She’s not even 5 until August and will miss out on all the play based learning Sad

Weedsnseeds1 · 29/05/2020 16:11

Dowser if you drove from Weston to Cheddar by the most direct route, you would pass through where I live.
I mentally have you either near the Abbott's fish house or cider central, with its links to a little, yellow, chamois mascot.

Orangeblossom78 · 29/05/2020 16:16

We have the self cleaning loos here which cost 2Op, think they are still open.

Dowser · 29/05/2020 16:23

Haha
Weeds and seeds..no
Boring old ne, that’s actually come up trumps in these stressful times with long proms and. Sandy beaches
My dd spoke tothe Ice cream parlour owner at the beach now doing a riotous trade in ice creams
Asked her when she was closing 8 pm, 9 pm, 10 pm
Don’t know..when people have started to go home..get in that women
I would love to support you but we can’t eat ice cream.
Now get the play parks open 👍
And the car parks
And the loos
