Random you in there! Sorry, sounds like an accusation

LivinLaVidaLoki · 29/05/2020 12:59

At the risk of sounding a bit dense I really don't understand Drakeford at all.
On April 24th he was banging on about having a clear roadmap and working together on a 4 nation approach to ease lockdown. At that point Westminster were saying no.

Why now that Westminster say "yes" (arf) is he saying no??

Wales education the minister believes the unions know best (rolls eyes)

enjoyingSun · 29/05/2020 12:59

I did have a vauge hope they'd be something about schools - though we have to be in Amber for priorty years to go back, hopefully Y10, but I starting to think none will be back before Sepetember and starting to worry it may be after that.

Littlebelina · 29/05/2020 13:01

Not a fan of the message South Korea have been giving when closing schools which is "adults behave or children will suffer". How about trying to put measures in place so children's education doesn't suffer due to (probably unrelated) adults fucking up. Suppose I should be grateful that education is being considered at all and that the message isn't "lock up the disease vectors"

DrearyWallAntler · 29/05/2020 13:03

More anti dementor ammo:

How many cases of kids infecting adults?

Yeah.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 29/05/2020 13:04

@livinlavidaloki - I think Mark Drakeford is enjoying lockdown and the worship of the dementors. I don’t think he realises the major it’s are getting fed up as the shrieking is still so loud. It’s such a shame. As a small country we could have wrapped a protective curtain around nursing homes and the most vulnerable, set up proper testing and tracing, maybe a short sharp lockdown but quickly out. We’ve made every mistake England has but are now damaging everything else to the altar of COVID 19. I’m off to stay in England as soon as we can, especially if the pubs are open. It’ll be like a proper escape!

savehalloween · 29/05/2020 13:05

I don't know why I watch the Welsh briefings, I'm always left livid.

It's made worse by people being gleeful on other threads about our border being policed. I'm horrified by it personally but there we are.

Did I miss it, or did he say what part of the 'roadmap' we are on now?

justasking111 · 29/05/2020 13:06

It is written on the wall clearly now that schools will not go back before September. Personally I would send the kids back early August tearing up the past way of doing things. The weather is always wet in Wales in August anyway. How many households will lose a breadwinner because of this.

justasking111 · 29/05/2020 13:08

Wales what are employers going to do when and if they open if there is no childcare in place. Those employees will be the first to go.

savehalloween · 29/05/2020 13:09

On Wales online I noticed they really stressed that he's "asking" you to stay 5 miles.

I really would like to know what parts of this are against the law now and not just guidelines. Surely now we can leave the house as many times as we like, fines would be discretionary and open to interpretation by the police?

justasking111 · 29/05/2020 13:10

DS furloughed three workers hospitality so no chance of opening in Wales, two of them decided to get pregnant. His is a small business so looks likely to go under.

highmarkingsnowbile · 29/05/2020 13:10

' A dementor on FB today because of Scottish easing "Before you all head out tomorrow remember how far the testing swabs have to go!"'

Not very far because if you are up here you'd realise NHS Scotland is giving out tests you have to perform on yourself! That's right, folks, you go online and one is sent out to you.

Anyway, I've had nose, throat swabs for swine flu. It wasn't THAT bad. I've had endoscopy with sedation that was worse even with sedation.

Block BBQ tonight. Can't wait. Wine's already chilling.

justasking111 · 29/05/2020 13:11

Wales say I live in Llandudno, granny in Llanrwst 13 miles, are the police really going to fine me??

Orangeblossom78 · 29/05/2020 13:12

Ah, others have the same difficulty with sharing things too. Yes I understand, it feels impossible to say anything positive. without feeling a bit kind of insensitive or getting dementing back.

I have wanted to say well, I think people need to take responsibility themselves and not just listen to 'rules' that people can make judgements of risk, etc, but don't feel I can share this in general.

justasking111 · 29/05/2020 13:13

Wales early signal to business to spend the next three weeks getting ready to maybe, yep maybe open. Who is going to risk breaking furlough of staff on a maybe?

justasking111 · 29/05/2020 13:13

Wales and if granny needs a wee, well she cannot come in according to the rules.

enjoyingSun · 29/05/2020 13:16

I read the Iceland link earlier as it said the same about children and adults- We have not found a single instance of a child infecting parents.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 29/05/2020 13:17

I totally agree. It feels like the labour stazi are trying to point score against conservatives. They are destroying wales. I would literally be going to my gp if I wasn't so close to the border. I would feel suffocated otherwise. There has been NOTHING about people's sacrifice, their mental health, our kids futures. I am so sick of this. What's saving me is DD is due to attend English grammar school in sept and we can afford for DS 8 to have private tuition via zoom once a week.

But I know I am extremely lucky. I don't know what I'd do if my kids were in high school and GCSEs looming. It's like a communist state.

JassyRadlett · 29/05/2020 13:19

I’ve just been out for a walk in the woods with my best friend and her three kids. We didn’t even make a pretence of trying to distance the kids. No point, and their chance of having it is extraordinarily low given very low prevalence around here and the fact that they have had zero social contact since March.

They are both different kids for a couple of hours of normality - especially the 8yo who I’ve been very worried about.

I’m terrified about lack of camps in the summer though. As long as they don’t close nurseries again the 4yo is sorted until September, but 8yo is just so lonely.

enjoyingSun · 29/05/2020 13:24

I'm worring, trying to fill gaps and finding when I do post here I run the risk of being told it's my own fault for picking that school.

The school changed a lot since DD1 started it's had few years of upheavals and change in leadership and style and ethos - it used to be really good at pastoral care that's gone massivley downhill.

I didn't pick the primary at all - it's where there were spaces - plus we had to factor in DH commute being doable daily and house prices so wasn't huge choice of area.

Springersrock
She kept that well hidden then didn’t she lol

Dowser · 29/05/2020 13:35

I don’t know what to make of this
I spoke to my very dear friend whom I should’ve visited early in May
She said in Dorset and Hampshire over 400 people died yesterday and over 300 the day before.
Anyone in those areas , can you send me a link as it sounds ridiculously high
She hasn’t left her home for 3 months
Thanks

Drivingdownthe101 · 29/05/2020 13:38
